hi
Where abouts in Sydney are you?
As for sexing there are some really good sites online
to help. I know I got fooled too. I bought a baby girl
for our so-called other female who turned out male.
Fortunately, they were separated from the start as we
thought the older one had mites. So they are still
separated.
Here is a good site which may help with sexing.

Let me know how you go & I'll see if I can take a
guinea pig from you if hubby lets me :)

Hi,
We have a lovely two year old male piggy called
Winston. He was lonely so we
got him a friend whom we were assured was male.
That was 6 months ago. 4 weeks ago the new guinea pig,
called Chico gave
birth to 4 little piggies. Two look just like their
dad (Churchill and
Dinsdale) and two look just like their mum (Pippin and
Merry). I'm having
real trouble sexing them, they all appear to have a
'Y' with a dot in the
middle. But I just caught Dinsdale trying to mount
Pippin. So I think we
have all males or 1 male and 3 female. Dinsdale does
appear to have an ever
so slightly more pronounced 'i' then the others.
Anyway, while we would love
to keep them all, we simply can't. We are in the
Sydney area, Does anyone:
A: want a baby guinea pig or a 6 month sow suitable
for breeding?
B: know an easier way of sexing them or can recommend
a vet who specialises
in Guinea Pigs?
I think ideally we would like to keep on of the males
as a companion for
Winston. Has anyone tried pairing a mature boar with a
younger one?
There is a picture up on my domain:
