Hello!
My name's Leigh, and I'm a newbie. I work at Australian Animal Protection
Society in Keysborough, Vic. I'm the person responsible for rehoming the bunnies
and piggies . Go to http://www.aaps.org.au/rabbitsandguni.htm to see some very
cute bunnies/pigs!
I am also owned by 6 (desexed) bunnies who are extremely spoilt.
I'll post some photos of guinea pigs and rabbits needing homes soon.

Hi,

I'm new to rodents and I'm looking for reputable breeders for mice as
I don't trust pet shops. I live in the Brisbane metro area so if you
know any good breeders can you let me know! Any information on where I
can find a list of breeders would be good too.

thanks in advance

Does anyone know anything about quarantine regulations for pet rats
coming into Australia? I looked on the customs and quarantine webpage
and it wasn't clear. I plan on sending them an email to enquire
further, but I figured I'd also see if anyone had any experience with
this.

I will be returning to Oz in a few months after a few years in Canada
and I would really like to bring my 3 pet rats with me. I'm just not
sure if it's possible based on the info available online.

Firstly I'd love to welcome all new members since May 2005 - and any I
haven't yet welcomed pria to that.

Wow - Ingnacio Molina, lovely husband of my dear friend Maureen
(parents of Tiare and Alexi)- has translated the Australian Mouse and
Rat Information Service introduction sheet into spanish for me.
Animal welfare groups in Bolivia were very interested in our clubs
views on compassionate care and understanding of rats and other rodents.
So, if you speak spanish, please stick with us - as we'll need a
welcomming party for our new members when they arrive.

OOH I'm so excitted.

bye all!!
your founder, Rebekah Blackwolf.

PS - once I get a home computor, instead of the local cafe, there's
going to be major downloads of rare and hard to find rodent info,
histroy and facts about issuse surrounding rabbit and rodent use in
laboratories, as pets, as food, in fables and veterinary care info.....

Hopefully too, we'll have guest speakers inside our chat room.

Bye!!!!!

Hello to all of the rodent lovers out there!!!

We are posting this message or "Mission Statement" on as many
ratty/rodent sites as humanly possible in a bid to gauge what sort of
interest there would be for a new rat/rodent food product line that
we are considering launching.

As rat owners ourselves, we are concerned about the general well
being, health and happiness of our babies and therefore have spent
many hours researching ways in which to prolong the lives of our
ratties, ward off tumours and, of course, the ever dreaded MYCO!!!

We have established, that in order to achieve results, it is
imperative that we boost the fragile immune system of our rats. We
believe that we are doing just that using special recipes that
include natures super foods, herbs and supplements.

After extensive research and trialing our products on two of our rats
who had early signs of myco with much success, we started feeding all
of our little guys our miracle food.

Since this, we have shared our success with a few fellow rat lovers
who all suggested that we should share these products with rats and
their families all over the world.

We are well aware that responsible breeding is the major way in which
to breed out problems and produce healthier rats. That is all wonder
full but what about our existing pets and what if we could strengthen
our new generations even further? Wouldn't that be fantastic?

All of the produce that we use for our 'SUPER FOOD' is natural and
whats more, our rats love it and always devour every last morsel!!!

All that we are asking of you wonderful people out there, is that you
send us a brief e-mail and let us know if you, and/ or anybody else
that you may know

would be interested in purchasing such a product before we get the
ball rolling. We will keep all of your e-mail addresses on file so
that we can keep you posted on how things are going.

Thankyou for your time and love and kisses to all of your ratties!

Introduced pest species such as housemice, black rats and brown rats
should be humanely treated and if sick taken to a veterinary clinic.

Pest species are not native animals and wildlife shelters will refuse
to take them.
However, if you are uncertain of exactly which species you do have,
please contact your veterinarian or wildlife shelter.

While pest species may not be native, they are still wild animals and
suffer more if kept in captivity.
Re-release may seem unorthodox and unfaverable by councils and
general community, particulary in bushland areas where introduced
species are a threat to native animals. In such cases humane
euthanasia is recommended.

However, in built up areas, re-release is often a more humane option,
despite being frowned on. Prevention is far better than cure with
feral animals. Do not provide a habitat suitable fro breeding and
they will not breed to plague numbers.

besides, it cannot be worse than humane overpopulation. Whose heard
of a feral rat building a nuclear bomb? Or, a rat committing genocide?
........bla bla bla

Hi everyone; hope you are all well.

One of my Managers at work has two rabbits who he wants to find homes for.
It’s the typical story really; the family has had the bunnies for about 2
years and they have now lost interest in them…. My concern of course is
that these animals are not getting the attention they deserve or the space
required to live a quality life.

Is there anyone in the Sydney NSW area willing to take in two rabbits? He
says he is willing to drive them to their new home. I’m not sure where he
lives exactly, but we work in Parramatta, so obviously anyone in or around
Sydney. I’d take them on but I already have 9 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs and
I don’t think the main group would willingly accept another pair into their
space!

It would of course be preferable if they could go as a pair as they get on
so well and have lived together for some time. I can provide pictures to
anyone who is interested [of course they are both really very cute]. Just
email me at HYPERLINK
"mailto:philandglenda@..."philandglenda@... and put
“Bunnies” in the subject line so that I don’t accidentally delete [I get
loads of junk mail….].

Have a good weekend everyone.

Cheers,
Glenda

Hi Matthew.j.Cleary,

male rats never like other rats invading their space even if the kittens are
from him. Always make sure the male rat is always separated from the female rat
before she has her litter. and the female rat would have stressed out and eaten
the little and how because of the male rat wanting to mate with her 2 hours
after she gives birth. if you have any more questions fell free to ask no
problems. oh and if you don't have a second tanks you might need one, are you
keeping the little . I not you can give them to the pet stores, and they will
give you cat litter or food in return.......cheers
