Sensei,
Please include an item on the agenda about standardising payment for classes between the St Claire and Camperdown dojos.  This will make administration much easier, everyone will know the rates and we can make sure we are recording students classes accurately.

Thanks,
Kate

Hi everyone, unfortunately Martin is unable to attend this Saturday due to a pressing commitment, given his key role in the club, I'm going to postpone the meeting.

I want to suggest three possible times and I'd like you to tell me whether you intend to come and if so which times suit you best.

If you're wondering about attending, this is my suggestion:
• beginners/junior kyus: everyone is more than welcome and I encourage you to come -- we want your input!
• 3-kyu and above: I strongly encourage you to be there -- you are the future and this is your chance to tell us how you want it to be
• instructors/yudansha: we can't do it without you
• "friends of the dojo": if you can spare the time, we really value your experience, involvement and ongoing support

Suggested times:
This sunday, May 26
Saturday, June 2
Sunday, June 3

best regards

I look forward to seeing you there

Schedule:
9.00 am arrive to set up
9.30 to 11.30 am first session
12.00 to 2.00 pm second session
it is not unknown for us to go to the pub after training

Mike Allen, Kristian Miller-Karlsen and Mick Valentine have been working up another great program for us.

Follow this link (http://www.targetfocustraining.com/what_is_tft.html ) to read up on TFT. Don't worry about the hype on the website, it's targetting the US market.

Mick, Kristian and Mike are currently the nearest thing to qualified TFT instructors in Australia.

Mike has been training martial arts for almost 30 years and is a recognised instructor in Kempo, Aikido and Yang Mian. He is also a practising physiotherapist who has fixed almost as many martial artists as he's broken :)

Kristian trained aikido relentlessly for over 10 years with a few years of Yang Mian and TFT thrown in. He is one of the most single-mindedly dedicated martial artists I have met as well as being a kettle-bell devotee.

Mick is an accomplished boxer, aikido yudansha and all-round bad boy with a heart of gold.

I hope you can join us

Dear Aikidoka,

Please find attached the details for Maruyama Sensei's Sept, October Seminar in Brisbane 2007. The Australian seminar series this year will be held in Brisbane and Melbourne and I would like you to consider adding the Brisbane seminar to your itinerary.

Last year we had a fabulous turnout with aikidoka from all around the country and a few from overseas joining us for the weekend. This year the seminar runs for the better part of six days in a much roomier venue just 8km from the city centre. Set in a rural aspect it also features an outdoor bar (for those serious apre training conversations). During each day there will be 5 hours of teaching by Maruyama sensei plus some social activities and instructor workshops (run by AY instructors) as well.

Many Brisbane students are so keen to have you visit that they will even give you somewhere to stay - please contact our billeting man Tony Sensei if you are interested (see registration form for details)

Seminar registration includes a discount for out of town students that have far to travel and an early bird discount if you register early enough. Registration includes lunches for each day and the seminar dinner as well. Some pictures from last years seminar and dinner can be found on http://brisbaneaikido.com/gallery/Maruyama2006/Maruyama2006.html

Online registration will be available from May on http://brisbaneaikdo.com where more details on the seminar can also be found

best wishes and look forward to seeing you there,
danny

To: Elisabeth Andel <elisabeth@...>

The 4 DVD set (5+ hours) of Master Koretoshi Maruyama's 2006 World Tour has
now been finalised. If you attended the seminar and didn't have the time to
take notes, need additional information or if you didn't have the chance to
attend this seminar, here is your chance to catch up. This production is to
a great deal made up of the 6-day UK seminar and some sections from Hamburg,
San Francisco, Hawaii and Byron Bay.

During the 2006 Seminar Tour Maruyama sensei introduced new aspects of
Aikido Yuishinkai, additional ways of finding the right balance between mind
and body in the execution of aikido techniques, as well as practices to
develop hightened sensitivity or 6th sense. Sensei reminded us of the
O'sensei's aikido origins in Daito Ryu, incorporating some of these ideas as
well into Aikido Yuishinkai.  'Sangakuyen no tachi', the Shinkage Ryu bokken
kata sensei taught during this tour, is also shown in detail.

To give me an idea of how many DVDs may be required, I would appreciate if
you could respond by the end of the month. This should give you time to
check with your students or collegues. The recommended price will be $
65.00, but an early bird special or bulk price offer is $ 55.00. Postage in
Australia will be $5 for up to 2 DVD sets.

Please remember that the YUKI 3 DVD from the same 2006 tour is also
available. (set of 2 DVDs $ 45.00, or 40.00 for bulk orders).

Best wishes,

For instance, Anne and Graham are bringing coleslaw, Jean will bring a

some paper plates, plastic cups and plastic forks.

To help with arrangements, could you please post to the list whether or

Oh yes, I'll bring ... um ... some nice cheese and maybe a pate.

Does anyone have ideas / equipment for games for the kids? French

maybe? There is a playground at the community centre.

Program is:

9 to 10 kids class

10 to 12 adults

Hi Andrew,

There's a great Aiki game you can play with the kids. Aptly called enemy/defender. It's pretty easy to play and burns a lot of energy. Basically, you get gather everyone together in a given space. Everyone is told to pick an "enemy", but keep it to yourself. Then, everyone is told to pick a different person as their "defender". Again, keep that information to oneself.  When you say GO, everyone has to position their defender between them and their enemy. This will involve lots of running around and it can become rather obvious who is a favorite defender. You can re-set a number of times to pick a different enemy/defender. We usually play 3 or 4 sets or when people get too tired. Have fun!

Hi Andrew,

I have just settled back in after returning from the tour and having guests.  Chris Hall  had a great time with us and it was sad to see him go on his long trip home.   On behalf of Maruyama Sensei, Yasuko-san and myself, I would like to thank you for the excellent organisation of the Sydney seminar.  We had a great time visiting new places and enjoyed all the wonderful food.  I have written to Miyoko separately to thank her.  As you know, I am relocating to the Gold Coast for a short while to settle Shani into school there.  I look forward to seeing you in Australia over this period.  Once again, many thanks to you and all the backroom support for a successful seminar.  Best wishes, Michael
