Only three weeks to go till Maruyama Sensei's Sydney Seminar, 4-7 October

Please note attendance is limited and there are only about 10 spots left.

We have a fantastic new website including details of the seminar thanks to the efforts of Bob Withers (great work Bob!). Please check it out if you haven't already at http://www.aikidoinsydney.com/

Pre-payment will really help us reduce admin on the day, but mostly we'd like to know if you want to take advantage of the Japanese-style lunch for only $5 per lunch. This will help a lot with planning.

I attended Maruyama Sensei's seminars in Europe this year and he has some fantastic new stuff including footwork, another shinkage-ryu kata, principles for preventing uke from stepping, new ideas on stability and much more.

We had very few students who could make it on this night and it was to be a short class anyway as another group uses the room from 7pm.

About Sensei

Our good friends Kristian, Mike the Mechanic and Mick Valentine are available on Saturday, 17 November to run another TFT session for us.

For those of you with no previous knowledge of TFT, this link will give some idea, but there's nothing like direct experience.

Feel free to pack your drinking trousers for after class.

Cost will be $25 for four hours of sweet mayhem, free for AYS students paying monthly.

It is likely the sessions will follow our normal pattern of 9.30 to 11.30 and then 12 to 2, but we will fine-tune on the day. Please show up by 9 to help set up.

As usual you are invited to train in bare feet or clean training shoes. (If you wore them to the dojo, they ain't clean.)

This is to preserve our mats from grit and other horrors you wouldn't voluntarily rub your face in.

Instructors, please promote this event to students in the coming weeks.

Just a quick note to let you know that we have set up a Planning Committee to help the club grow. The group meets monthly and we have elected the following office bearers:

President - Bob Withers
Treasurer - Andrew Sunter
Secretary - Kate Gunton
Administrator St Clair - Anne Linnert
Administrator Camperdown - Vacant

As you can see we still need another volunteer so if you would like to join the group please contact one of the committee members. All you need to do is be available for a couple of hours each month to attend the meetings.

The group is planning some marketing drives to get some more new students and will soon be working on a business model for the club. Our long term goal is to own our own dojo in Sydney. So if you'd like to help the club move to bigger and better things, come along and lend a hand.

Hello!

As you may or may not be aware, the Sydney dojo (both St Clair and
Camperdown) are engaged in various project to advance and improve the
fun and enjoyment for students, and promoting Aikido as a Good Thing
to a wider audience.

One of those projects is coming up, and you can help!

On Saturday September 1st, St Clair will be having their Community
Spring Fair. We have organised to give a 20 minute demonstration and
we'd like help. We'll be performing two mini classes. One for kids,
and one for adults. To do that, we need as many students to help as we
can. We need people to help out with the demo, and also behind the
scenes with setup, to answer queries, hand out fliers etc.

We'll meet at St Clair dojo between 8:30 and 9am to grab the mats and
head to the Fair. Afterwards, we'll return to St Clair dojo for more
training and the remainder of our monthly intensive, and maybe some
lunch, drinks etc.

You want to help, so either contact Andrew Sensei, or reply directly
to me and let us know. If you have any questions or need more
information, feel free to ask me or Andrew Sensei.
