Hi everyone
Martin John is making a special effort to attend class tonight as it is
his last class for the year. He heads home to Wales tomorrow for
several weeks. We'll go out after class to send Martin off.
Hope to see you there
best regards
Andrew
Akiko is spending the next six or so months travelling around Australia on her motorcycle. We expect her back to training in June next year but hope to get travel updates and more photos in the meantime.
Some of you will remember Mike Amoore who trained with us a few years back in Crows Nest. Mike had done several years of training in NZ with Riai Aikido and then had a break for a few years before he joined us.
I was fortunate to train with Mike at Riai when I was in Auckland last year. It's a wonderfully friendly and welcoming dojo and a great experience to train there.
I've just heard from Mike that, having started aikido training some 20 years ago, last week he finally graded shodan.
Congratulations Mike and best wishes for your future training. We hope to see you in Sydney again one of these years.

Due to this budobum's attendance of AikiFest Fiji 2005 with Mike Williams Sensei, there is no-one available to teach the Thursday evening class for the next few weeks. :(
Therefore there will be no class tomorrow Thurs 23 June, Thurs 30 June or Thurs 7 July.
My apologies for the reduced training opportunities.
Martin John Sensei will be conducting the monthly intensive this Saturday, 25 June, as well as regular Monday and Wednesday classes for the next couple of weeks.
best regards and enjoy your training

Good morning Andrew,
Sorry I missed class the other day, I was trapped at outlaws.
I have attached a flyer for the 2005 Martial Arts Demo on this Saturday night.

This looks very interesting and I was wondering whether any one from class would be interested. What do you think ?
If you have time would you like to call Richard or I can. I think we would have to move quickly to arrange tickets ect.
There will be training on Monday (the long weekend), but please let me know whether or not you plan to be there as there is a certain amount of flexibility available.
best regards
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
It was good to see you over in Auckland. I hope we'll see you over
here again.
I was hoping you might be able to help me with an obi tying question.
Someone whose name escapes me at Crows Nest used to try to show me a
very tidy way of tying a belt. I thought it might be the Ki Society
standard and was as per the diagram in my Ki Society manual, but now
think that the manual diagram just shows the old "one end passes
underneath, thumbknot to finish a reef" knot. The method she showed us
involved one or both loose ends passing back into the body of the
knot. I can approximate it by passing the loose ends back under the
belt on each side after I tie the standard knot. Do you recall this
knot please?
Best regards,
Mike Amoore
This month we have Kristian Miller-Karlsen Sensei, 3-dan in Shin Sen Aikido, as a guest instructor during the first session. We will hold kyu gradings at the end of the second session.

Below are details of the new 2 DVD set available from Goshinkan dojo (my teacher's dojo and our Australian headquarters). The set costs $40. I've seen sneak previews of the DVDs and I'm sure they will be a fantastic aid to anyone studying Aikido Yuishinkai at any level.
Could you please let me know how many people would like to buy DVDs and what format you need.
Please note that this is a professionally produced DVD and many hundreds of hours of work have been donated and many hundreds of dollars spent. So please take note of Sensei's request that the DVDs not be copied.
From our Chief Instructor:
"The Aikido Yuishinkai Grading Syllabus DVD is now available.
"This long-awaited, professional, comprehensive DVD is a valuable resource for all Aikido Yuishinkai instructors and students.
AIKIDO YUISHINKAI GRADING SYLLABUS
as demonstrated by Michael Williams Sensei, Chief Instuctor Aikido Yuishinkai International
The DVD provides detailed instruction of the grading syllabus from 7th kyu through 3rd Dan. Also included are the warm-up taiso exercises, blending exercises, the 10 basic forms and the weapons grading katas. This DVD presents the Aikido Yuishinkai syllabus in a easy to understand format and is an essential resource tool to accompany the Aikido Yuishinkai Student Handbook.
2 DVD set $40 Available in PAL or NTSC format
At this stage, we are trying to gauge the initial print run numbers for production. Please provide a total order number for your dojo, specifying what format you require. This will enable us to determine our initial production order and the required format. I know you will be pleased with the quality of this DVD.
This DVD has required a great deal of time, effort and expense to produce. Therefore, we request that it is not copied as the price reflects the minimum cost to cover production expenses. Best wishes to you and your students, Michael Williams"

Hi Andrew,
thanks for the being so patient with me last week.
As I said, I really love the phylosophy and techniques, I am still
very junior and a bit on the slow side but an sure I will improve.
Due to a heavy workload this week I will not be attending Thursdays
teachings but you will be seeing me.
The difference between you and Stephen's teaching methods is
astounding but yet it is still Aikido and thats the beauty of it.
thanks
See you soon
