Good morning Andrew,
Sorry I missed class the other day, I was trapped at outlaws.
I have attached a flyer for the 2005 Martial Arts Demo on this Saturday night.

This looks very interesting and I was wondering whether any one from class would be interested. What do you think ?
If you have time would you like to call Richard or I can. I think we would have to move quickly to arrange tickets ect.
There will be training on Monday (the long weekend), but please let me know whether or not you plan to be there as there is a certain amount of flexibility available.

Hi Andrew,
It was good to see you over in Auckland. I hope we'll see you over
here again.
I was hoping you might be able to help me with an obi tying question.
Someone whose name escapes me at Crows Nest used to try to show me a
very tidy way of tying a belt. I thought it might be the Ki Society
standard and was as per the diagram in my Ki Society manual, but now
think that the manual diagram just shows the old "one end passes
underneath, thumbknot to finish a reef" knot. The method she showed us
involved one or both loose ends passing back into the body of the
knot. I can approximate it by passing the loose ends back under the
belt on each side after I tie the standard knot. Do you recall this
knot please?
Best regards,
Mike Amoore
This month we have Kristian Miller-Karlsen Sensei, 3-dan in Shin Sen Aikido, as a guest instructor during the first session. We will hold kyu gradings at the end of the second session.

Below are details of the new 2 DVD set available from Goshinkan dojo (my teacher's dojo and our Australian headquarters). The set costs $40. I've seen sneak previews of the DVDs and I'm sure they will be a fantastic aid to anyone studying Aikido Yuishinkai at any level.
Could you please let me know how many people would like to buy DVDs and what format you need.
Please note that this is a professionally produced DVD and many hundreds of hours of work have been donated and many hundreds of dollars spent. So please take note of Sensei's request that the DVDs not be copied.
From our Chief Instructor:
"The Aikido Yuishinkai Grading Syllabus DVD is now available.
"This long-awaited, professional, comprehensive DVD is a valuable resource for all Aikido Yuishinkai instructors and students.
AIKIDO YUISHINKAI GRADING SYLLABUS
as demonstrated by Michael Williams Sensei, Chief Instuctor Aikido Yuishinkai International
The DVD provides detailed instruction of the grading syllabus from 7th kyu through 3rd Dan. Also included are the warm-up taiso exercises, blending exercises, the 10 basic forms and the weapons grading katas. This DVD presents the Aikido Yuishinkai syllabus in a easy to understand format and is an essential resource tool to accompany the Aikido Yuishinkai Student Handbook.
2 DVD set $40 Available in PAL or NTSC format
At this stage, we are trying to gauge the initial print run numbers for production. Please provide a total order number for your dojo, specifying what format you require. This will enable us to determine our initial production order and the required format. I know you will be pleased with the quality of this DVD.
This DVD has required a great deal of time, effort and expense to produce. Therefore, we request that it is not copied as the price reflects the minimum cost to cover production expenses. Best wishes to you and your students, Michael Williams"

Hi Andrew,
thanks for the being so patient with me last week.
As I said, I really love the phylosophy and techniques, I am still
very junior and a bit on the slow side but an sure I will improve.
Due to a heavy workload this week I will not be attending Thursdays
teachings but you will be seeing me.
The difference between you and Stephen's teaching methods is
astounding but yet it is still Aikido and thats the beauty of it.
thanks
See you soon

Aikido Yuishinkai Australian Seminar Master Koretoshi Maruyama, Founder of Aikido Yuishinkai Friday, 2 September to Tuesday, 6 September 2005
Goshinkan Dojo presents the National Seminar with Master Koretoshi Maruyama, founder of Aikido Yuishinkai. During his visit to Australia in September 2004, Maruyama Sensei taught a dynamic seminar inspiring great enthusiasm and interest in Aikido Yuishinkai. The 2004 World Tour introduced Aikido Yuishinkai to Europe and America. There are now more than 70 dojos practicing Aikido Yuishinkai around the world.
An original student of O-sensei and a professional instructor since 1967, Maruyama Sensei is widely admired and respected throughout the world. He has dedicated his life to communicating the benefits of "positive mind" through Aikido training. Maruyama Sensei's accessible and inspirational teaching style, infused with humour, vigour and grace, is an example of positive, non-contentious mindfulness and "Aikido without Boundaries".
This seminar is designed to cater to all levels of training ability. All styles of aikido are welcome to attend. Come and experience Maruyama Sensei's wisdom, kindness and patience at Aikido Yuishinkai Australia 2005.
Yuki The healing art of Aikido Saturday, 10 September
On Saturday, 10 September, Maruyama Sensei will teach a one-day Yuki intensive to promote understanding and heightened sensitivity for those wishing to practice this hands-on healing concept for the benefit of family and friends. Yuki is used to invigorate the body and create a climate by which the body can heal itself.
Last night we had our first Thursday class and our first class on the new mats.
There was quite a lot to do in preparation before we could use them for the first time, so thanks to Craig, Mike, Jake and Adam for their help.
Once again, John Shugg, the head of Community Colleges, was a fantastic help. He took delivery of the mats in the morning and then also spent around 45 minutes helping me set up last night before anyone else arrived.
It turns out the old mats and new mats fit together after all, so we had 63 sq m (7x9) of continuous mat space last night!
Dear Andrew,
thank you very much for coming to Rockhampton to help to promote
Aikido Yuishinkai.
I want to thank you for your help in the demo, for your time and
effort...teaching us can be very difficult :-)
It was a fantastic week. My students and I enjoyed your seminar very
much.
Thank you!
Cheers,
Galina
Hi everyone
From this week we will introduce Thursday evening training each week.
Existing monthly fees will cover this additional class for March.
From April we will introduce a new fee structure:
Monthly fee is $90. This averages out to less than $6.50 per class if
you attend all classes.
Alternatively, you can get an 8-pack of classes pre-paid, also for
$90.
The casual rate will increase to $14 per class.
I am expecting our new mats to be delivered this Thursday, so come
along and help break them in! The new mats will give us a total of 66
sq m of mat space.
best regards
Andrew
The dates for the annual seminar with Maruyama Sensei this year will be September 2-6 (5 days). It will be a similar format to last year with two 2 1/2 hour classes each day. A promotional flyer will be available soon.
Sensei has asked me to send this e-mail around to let you know what's happening regarding the March Intensive. Due to Easter the March intensive will now be moved back a week and be held on Saturday 2nd April. The actual April intensive will still be on Saturday 30th April.
regards,
Martin
PS : For those who were unable to make last night's class and who would like to purchase a keikogi through the dojo the cost will be $65. I will collect the money tomorrow evening and will get the keikogis this weekend.
Great news, Mark, look forward to seeing you. You'll be pleased to know we've found a great pizza place near the dojo :7)
best regards
Andrew

Sensei,
My mail package gives me a choice when I hit reply on the email and
asks if I want to reply to the sender or to all. I selected "all" to
check and see that this does go to everyone rather than default to just
the sender.

I will be training informally with Peter Kelly from Hobart this weekend to prepare for his grading. So far we have arranged to meet at the dojo at 2 pm tomorrow, Saturday.
A time for training on Sunday will be arranged tomorrow.
If you would like to train tomorrow, just turn up. If you would like to train Sunday, call me tomorrow night for details.
From the email below it seems that there are $29 flights to Sydney so if anyone was keen to uke for Pete's grading on the 26th, but couldn't afford it, get on the phone at 3pm sharp and you could be on your way!
Cheers,
Gabby

Aikido Yuishinkai Sydney has been asked by Michael Williams Sensei to conduct a grading for Peter Kelly Sensei to the rank of 3rd dan.
Those of you who've been to Byron for the national seminar in the last few years might know him as "Big Pete" from Tasmania, the big, boofy, bald bloke with the fantastic ukemi who everyone likes to test their technique on.
Peter decided to follow Maruyama Sensei after meeting him three or four years ago and opened a Yuishinkai dojo in Hobart last year. He will be joining class and training extra sessions with me between Saturday 19 and Saturday 26 Februray.
Anyone interested in joining in extra training sessions that week can let me know and I'll keep you informed of where and when training will take place.
The grading will be held in the second session of the February intensive on Saturday, February 26.
For beginners, this is a great opportunity to watch a sandan grading without having to travel to Byron. For graded students, we need at least five ukes. I want you to let me know if you will be attending that session and if you are willing to take part in the grading.
best regards
Andrew
