Hi Everybody,
With the impending release of "Feodar's World", I've updated
the files section to include the edited prologue, as it will appear in the
book, and the first chapter of "Rachael's Return" as contracted by New
Concepts. The "Beyond the Barriers" file is renamed "The Widowmaker", the
title the story will bear at Whisky Creek Press.
I've also added the first chapter of my current WIP, with a working title of
"A Better Man"

I hope you enjoy them.

Hi all,
Some movement at last. After a wait of nearly seven months, New Concepts
Publishing finally reached Feodar's World, the continuation of New Blood,
and responded enthusiastically. Contracts signed, I'm deep in the artwork
questionnaire, blurb and one-liner. More about release dates etc., when I
have them.

Another submission is due for a response in mid February and both works in
progress are going well, a third book in the New Blood series and a
contemporary romance.

Hi all,
It's been a bit quiet on the writing front since our return from Europe. The
arrival of our latest grandchild, Jasmine Cynthia, and the imminent arrival
or our grandson, Declan, has been a distraction.

That's coming to an end. I have two manuscripts submitted and a third as a
work in progress, a new page at The Romance Studio
<http://theromancestudio.com/fm/gallow.htm> , which I've gloated over a
little,
a family gathering at Xmas and an aunt turning one hundred on January 3rd.

I've also had one of the nicest rejection letters possible from Samhain
Publishing. It praised the things they liked and then listed the things that
posed a problem to publication. I'd not received so helpful a rejection
since the early days of Mills and Boon, when rejection letters often ran to
three pages.

It's all grist to the mill.

Yes, I’m participating in a fantasy promotion at the New Concepts Readers and Authors group next weekend, publishing excerpts, answering questions and awarding a prize (Chocolates)

Hi all,

I was browsing Shelley Munro's blog and followed her link to the Avon Fanlit site where they are running a competition to write the first chapter of a Regency romance. It's not my genre, but I was struck by the date, Spring 1815. Napoleon was on his way to Paris from Marsielle, with Ney about to switch sides and join him to trigger the hundred days that led to his defeat at Waterloo. It distracted me from reading the rest of the agreed storyline (hidden elsewhere on the site) and I dashed off the required fifteen hundred words with hardly a pause for thought not realizing reality was not a feature of Regency romances. I also shifted forward the date when the waltz was introduced to London Society by the Prince Regent some fifteen months, purely for its impact on the story.

It's getting mixed reviews in the voting, which proves the folly of jumping in without researching the genre. I called it "A Dangerous Game" if you have time to check it out.

NEW BLOOD is the first of a series set in the same environment and grew
out of an idea of giving the major character all the powers of an
author in that he could create what he chose, but was bound by the
underlying logic of his choices. The sequels extend the idea.

I've been busy since we returned, all the pent up ideas of nine weeks
flowing onto the pages as fast as I can type.

Sent off another story to "Woman's Day" yesterday. I'd had the idea
roughed out, but couldn't think of a satifying ending until it popped
into my head during the seemingly endless wait at Dubai airport. (Its a
pity that all the money spent in building the massive complex there
didn't extend to its organisation. It was the most chaotic terminal we
visited, both times.)

Great to hear from you.

New Blood by Amy Gallow

     Four Moons - Excellent work.

Class Two - Limited sexual content

Dael is an administrator in a remote outpost for the Hive--beings who
share a Group Mind but must use humans to contain their entity.  The
Chosen humans agree to host a member of the Hive for seventeen years
in return for better health, a longer life, and wealth.  Samara,
Dael's human host, has been a host for twelve years--since her early
teens.  Samara/Dael are kidnapped by Torred, who is following Peter's
orders, and taken to a human settlement that has escaped the Hive's
notice.  Dael is confused and terribly upset, wondering how such a
large settlement has escaped notice.  Then, Dael meets Peter, a
powerful being, who plans to change her world.

NEW BLOOD is a very unusual romance with a "TWILIGHT ZONE" feel.
Although, NEW BLOOD is slow in the beginning--it took me awhile to
familiarize myself with Ms. Gallow's complex world--I became wrapped
up in the struggles of all the characters.  Dael and Peter make an
endearing and loving couple, and the secondary romance between Samara
and Torred is very satisfying.  However, the fantasy elements of NEW
BLOOD take equal billing with the romantic elements, and Ms. Gallow
creates a thought-provoking fantasy romance.

[zoom] MITCHELL'S VALLEY
by Amy Gallow

RT Rating: Three Stars
Category: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
Publisher: Rocky River Romance
Published: May 2006
Type: Contemporary Romance (Paranormal)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
When Cynthia Sheldon discovers that Andrew Mitchell, the man who
saved her life during a snowstorm, went missing in 1886, she sets out
to find answers. Her journey takes her to Mitchell's Valley, the
ancestral homestead of her rescuer.

It is there that she meets Drew Mitchell. The striking similarities
in both appearance and mannerisms between Drew and her memories of
Andrew are quite evident. And Cynthia is surprised to find that she
shares an attraction and yearning for both men. Was the savior with
whom she shared such an intimate connection truly a ghost or merely a
hoax?

This is eloquently written and almost poetic in style, with great
attention to detail. But readers must suspend too much disbelief to
make the book totally credible. Gallow redeems this beautiful tale of
the search for truth and the longing for love with her uniquely
elegant approach, reminiscent of a classic love story. (May, 219 pp.)

Romance Reader at Heart reiviewed MITCHELL'S VALLEY and gave it four
roses to match the four NEW BLOOD received and my smile makes house
heating redundant on this cold winter's day in Melbourne

Here is what they had to say:

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

If you're in the mood for a modern romance, look no further! Amy
Gallow's MITCHELL'S VALLEY is just the book for you. With its
interesting characters and beautiful settings, you're sure to enjoy
this book.

Cynthia Sheldon has just been rescued from near death by the handsome
Andrew Mitchell. After a passionate kiss goodbye, he gives her a
trinket and asks that she never forget him. Once Cynthia is finally
recovered, she realizes that the trinket Andrew gave her was a golden
nugget! Intrigued by this man and the memory of his kiss, Cynthia
goes on a quest to find him to thank him again for his generosity,
and perhaps reenact their parting kiss. But what she finds instead is
a mystery that she is committed to solve, no matter what.

Drew Mitchell is a descendent from the legendary Andrew Mitchell, for
whom his ranch is named. Drew is one hunky cowboy! When Cynthia finds
Drew, she swears that he was the one who rescued her. But Drew denies
it, and claims instead that it was his namesake, the deceased Andrew
Mitchell who saved her instead. Could it be? A ghost who saved her
and kissed her? Although Cynthia is willing to play along with Drew's
story for a little bit, she can't help but think that maybe he's
telling the truth. A ghost did save her.

MITCHELL'S VALLEY sizzles with the romance between Cynthia and Drew!
I loved that Ms. Gallow added the mystery of Andrew Mitchell as the
driving force to bring together Cynthia and Drew. She keeps you
guessing as to whether it was really Andrew Mitchell's ghost who
rescued Cynthia.

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed reading MITCHELL'S
VALLEY. I breezed through the book and I was satisfied with how it
ended. All in all, a very good read!

Hi All,

I'm sitting here with a big grin and had to share this with you
Amy

NEW BLOOD

Author: Amy Gallow ISBN: 1586088572 3/2006 PARANORMAL Publisher: NEW
CONCEPTS PUBLISHING

She became a woman and changed the destiny of her race.

Abandoned by her race, manipulated by a unique individual, Dael
grasps the opportunity to break free of ancient bonds and become the
woman she imagines. In doing so she finds a love beyond anything her
world has ever known and bears a son with the power to rewrite
history.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Dael is essentially a person within a person. She lives inside of a
host, whose name is Samara and is a healer. She has this great
personality that is all her own. Dael and Samara literally take turns
using Samara's body, and they communicate with one another through
telekinetics. Their bond is very strong, and before they were through
sharing a body I had come to think of them as sisters.

Upon discovering a new life and a new way of doing things when Samara—
and Dael—are stolen from their hive, Dael uses the help of a man
named Peter to make changes to herself. She literally creates herself
a body, right from the very first cell. What Dael doesn't understand
is that Peter is a very powerful being and he is manipulating her to
get her to do his bidding. He wants to create a better way of life
for his people, and knows that Dael and the son that they will have
is the answer to his prayers.

While a little disillusioned when I began to read NEW BLOOD (mainly
because there is a lot of information, and at first, everything is
not explained very well), I ended up really liking this story. Dael
and Peter conquer great odds to be together and with their son,
Karrel, they become a force to be reckoned with. Theirs is a very
strong familial unit and I grew to love them while reading their
story.

This being my first experience with this type of paranormal book, I
was pleasantly surprised while reading Amy Gallow's NEW BLOOD. It was
an interesting read and helped to show me a new aspect of paranormal
romance.

"Snow Drifter" my fourth book with Rocky River Romances, will be distrubuted in the US April 2007 under the ongoing arrangement with National Book Network.

It's set in Aspen, Perisher and Sydney, so it already has a strong US conndcgion.

Congratulations Amy.

Wonderful to see your books on the shelves in those main bookstores…You deserve to be there.

There is certainly ‘Movement At the Station” no regrets though….as the poem continues!!!

Rocky River Romances has worked hard to hit the big time…and your work has got it up there!

Diane

Mitchell's Vally has hit the bookshelves of Amazon, Barnes & Noble,
Borders, Waldenmart and Powell's.
There will be a full page advert for it, "Heart's Desire"' "Primal Man"
and "Facing the Wind" in the Romantic Times and the Australian
Publisher of Rocky River Romances is in the US on a promotional tour.
There's "movement at the station" as Banjo Paterson might say.

New Zealand is great! Every Kiwi should be proud of their home. We had lunch with a New Zealand author, Shelley Munro, and her husband at Mission Bay in Auckland and I sampled the local mussels cooked in a a Belgian boutique beer. They were delicious and I carefully didn't think about cholestrol at all while I enjoyed each mouthful.

I'm bursting with enegy, ready to get as much work done as possible before we head off to Europe/UK at the end of June and my first effort was to publish a website, Amy Gallow , on the web. Check it out. I tried to make it a bit different.

Hi all,

We're off to New Zealand for three weeks so I thought I'd leave you some goodies to look at in the beginnings of the next two books in the New Blood series.

They give a picture of where I'm gong with the story line.

See you sometime after Anzac Day.

Amy
