Hi Kerry, I have a Pierrot. It has individual interchangeable needles
(5). It is very lightweight (a bonus for me, as I can store it under the
bench when not in use. I haven't had too much trouble with that. Check
out the Embroidery Source website. They are in Melbourne, they used to
post it out free if ordered online, It has a money back guarantee, that
if you don't like it you can return it in within 30 days. It's not a
bad little machine, 1/2 the price of the Babylock, but there are only 5
not 7 needles and no individual needle holes in the needle plate This is
the only drawback, so it is possible to have some fibres go down under
the surface. I find it easyto use & to clean. I like the finger guard on
it, which can be raised or lowered for thicker and thinner pieces.
Bernina has an embellishing accessory that can be used on some of their
machines. It has individual needles. I believe it is a great little
accessory. The drawback with these is that they will then disable the
machine for the time that you are using the embellisher. As the
embellisher necessarily makes a lot of fluff, this can also mean that
your sewing machine will also get very filthy. It's not a problem with a
dedicated embellisher, as they have no bobbin or mechanical
undercarriage to get dirty, you just empty the little dust box :-) .
Can you get to any of the needle and craft shows? they should have the
different ones on display to try.
good luck
