RE: [AussieFeltmakers] Embellisher

Hi Nat

I am following this discussion with interest. Sounds like the babylock is the way to go.

Someone told me recently that there is an embellishing attachment for the Bernina sewing machine. Does anyone know if this is the case & what it is like?

Wendy

Subject: [AussieFeltmakers] Embellisher

Happy Sunday to all!

First I would like to say THANK YOU again to all who posted to drop in their thoughts on this subject.

Well after much chatting and googleing/ Is this a word???  Anyway, I have come to this..... I am looking to use an machine often and most likely for some hours? This being said, I thought I would not want a machine that was nosier  as it worked and would be easy to change needles/move felt around under it.

I  was hunting for a fast machine and in the end one that would cost less to buy needles for.

I now feel that the only useful production machine of the home needle machines is the ..... Drum roll...... BABYLOCK EMBELLISHER.

Now please nobody get up set as they all work fine, I have just nutted it out to what I need.

The babylock is the fastest that I have found in the range, being its 1000 rpm as to the janome is 900 rpm.
The babylock has 7 needles/ janome has 5 needles.
With babylock you can replace any one of the 7 needles. Janome you MUST replace the whole five at the same time. Cost is $30.00 as to baby who is $8.00 per needle or you can have them cut or you cut as Barb has said.
Next, you have more lift/room under the needles with baby than janome.
The sad thing is the baby cost more being $750.00 , where janome is $400.00.

If I was not to buy a babylock, I would buy a husky star, although I don't think the motor  is as strong and there is only 5 needles.

Brother makes an attachment but it only works on the QP range of machines.
I am told the husky and the singer one are the same machine, different skin.

The janome does come with a DVD and a single hole plate and an extra set of 5 needled, but the not being able to change one or two needles , I think would be a killer in the end.

So there you have it.

Stay safe, have fun

Hugs

Hi Sandie Yes that sounds like a very valid point. It looks like the attachment only works on recent Berninas - which are probably quite pricey. I have a 30...
