Is the texture of the finished face doughy or the colour? have you tried colouring it after? I used to play around with dye mixes when silk painting, If you have a cream, you could add a few drops of yellow 1: 3 with a carmine type red, then brush this on.( or airbrush, or fine atomiser spray).I have been able to dye some merino, but unfortunately, I didn't take note of what I used ;( as I was on a retreat, very early in my felting .
