HI Feltettes,

Everyone busy getting ready for Xmas? I know I am.

Can everyone in the Xmas swap let me know if they received their swaps? I took photos of them all, and will post to the Yahoo photo album, if everyone has received theirs.

I would like to thank all the participants in the swap, it went smoothly, my felted decorations are all hanging on the tree.

Thanks Sandie, Meg, Nat, and Julie, love your work girls.LOL

Having a felted bag workshop at home today, spent yesterday getting ready, only thing left to do is make some morning tea! Think I will head to the supermarket and get some?

Hope everyone is well and happy.

I have the Janome Xpression and am happy with it........except fopr when it comes to replacing the 5 needle set!
Online friends in the USA tell me that Janome have improved on the multiple needle, now having a piece where you can replace individual needles.............
So far,in 12 months of owning an Xpression (and not doing as much as I'd hoped, due to DH's ill health)
I've only had to replace the 5 needle head once.

Hi Lorraine.
I  am a miser and will not pay for a needle felt machine, so I bought a old singer for 5.00 off the tip and turned this into a two needle machine.
So far I have been happy with the carded batt's that I make from my own carder.
I would think that with a real machine and bought batt's it would work well?

Hi Natalie, many thanks for the welcome to the group. I'm looking forward to reading the posts and learning from you all. I'm new to dry felting but have done lots of wet felting in my spinning days in the 80s and 90s.
I'd especially like to know more about what sewing/embellishing/felting machines members are using, and how well they work on carded fleece.

I have always found that when laminating silk to the wool, it is purely a wet felting process.  I find that the needles will damage the silk to some extent.  One can use the needles, but the results are far more satisfying to me when the fibres are coaxed through the fabric with the fingers or rolling or even with the sander.

I did recently do some with needles, and it damaged the silk to an extent that I did not like, and I was using very very fine needles.

Hi Everyone,

In the new Jorie Johnson scarf book she makes a fabulous scarf using
giant bubble wrap. Can anyone think of where would use this stuff so I
can go and buy some off them? I've found plenty of suppliers but I
don't really need 115m of it - just maybe 2.
It is a great book by the way - Fabulous Felted Scarves.
I've been going a bit Amazon crazy with the exchange rate what it is!

Hi Kate,

I haven't seen the book, so I don't know if you mean huge pieces of
bubble wrap or huge bubbles on the surface of the wrap.

If you mean giant bubbles, perhaps you could use solar swimming pool

Hi Everyone,

In the new Jorie Johnson scarf book she makes a fabulous scarf using
giant bubble wrap. Can anyone think of where would use this stuff so I
can go and buy some off them? I've found plenty of suppliers but I
don't really need 115m of it - just maybe 2.
It is a great book by the way - Fabulous Felted Scarves.
I've been going a bit Amazon crazy with the exchange rate what it is!

Hi all,

The swaps all arrived ok. I have had a lovely time admiring everyone’s work. They are all rearranged and winging their way to their new owners. So they will be home for the  tree decorating.

Well done everyone.

Next swap around February, I was thinking maybe a nuno or just felted scarf, as desired. Let me know who is interested and any other ideas.

Ciao!

Hi Suzanne,
Yes the information was of interest but I did already know most of it, what I did find of help was the sizing of the work table and how polly made hers.
The thing I was not happy about, was the fact the the book is a photo copy and there was no colour or really good pictures in it.
I am a visual learner and obtain a lot from high grade photos.

Hi Natalie, did you think the felt yardage booklet was good?
