Hi Feltettes

Forgive me if someone on the list has already referred you to this site:

www.peaceindustry.com about Iranian feltmakers Melina and Dodd Raissnia

There is a 15 minute video – rather long, but I am intrigued by Melina’s method of foot rolling!

Cheers,

Stacey

It seems we are all daft about craft. Paper making and
polymer clay is some (ahem!) of the other things I
have been involved in. Was a potter for 40 years! Now
I have added free machine embroidery to the list.
Must admit felting is addictive.
Happy Birthday Julie! How's the foot ? Careful when
you bend the elbow!( on your birthday of course) Meg
in a warm Augusta! Not as hot as Quarading I suppose.
I had a pottery friend who came from Bruce Rock.
Rosemary Skoss. Don't remember her maiden name. Have
cleand up the shed again to get felting underway.
Inspired I am Krishna.
:-) Meg.

Hi Krishna

Nicole Telaar Chazaud has been doing this felting for many years, and also does workshops.  But very expensive for you to have a class.  She is a marvelous feltmaker, and is a very nice lady too

Hi Ardione

Drysdale is a very excellent rug wool.  I have used it in some of the rugs that I have made in the past.  Don't do much of it these days, though.

Cheers

Hi everyone,
If you were going to try a rug what kind of wool would everyone use??? I've been thinking about the wear, cost and speed of felting . I think I'd go merino because I like the texture when it is felted to REALLY hard not sure yet.

Carol

I generally make mine over a blow up beach ball, laying the wool over it after I have plastered the ball with detergent. Then I put a pair of panti hose over the top, tie it down and bounce or rub.  When holding together enough, I take it off (the stockings) and work it with my sander, or by rubbing on a washboard or on the sink.  Stretch and shape,. heat in the microwave, drop several times, heat and stretch again, then shape and rub until satisfied..  Rinse and reshape. Then dry.

Cheers

Julie

I grew up not very far from where you are  (Bruce Rock).  I know the area well.  Do you get to Perth often?

Its going to be really hot during the coming weekend and week.  I am planning on going with a friend to the Australia Day Special in Perth on the Foreshore this Saturday.  Guess I will need my hat etc.

I made a couple of wall hangings lately.  Am doing machine embroidery on them after I finish with the felting part.  I am following the style of Fiona Wright, whose class I took last year.   I had been doing laminated felt for a long while now (a few years +) and I love to use as much silk as I can.

This is not a felt question but as there are so many quilters in the group I thought some one will know. I recently saw online, some chicken wire print fabric (black and white) but now can't find it again has anyone seen something like this as I would dearly love it to add to a cushion cover I am making for my daughters chicken mad friend
