We have another new member, Yvonne from Urunga, south of Coffs.

I met Yvonne years ago when I first moved here. Am very happy to catch up with you again, Yvonne. Join in when you are ready.

There are 2 other members pending I am just waiting to hear where they are from and their names. Some don’t reply when I ask them, I just decide they are spammers and disallow their membership. Hope this is ok with everyone.

Hi fellow feltettes,

My apologies for not being in touch lately. I fell off my perch for a while but am back on now, at least I think so. Welcome to any new members I may have missed.

The weather is getting cooler and I have been felting. Even though it is hot today.

I have made 4 laminated shawls this week. I just love seeing how they will turn out. I have also made some felt to make small booties with, they are sooo cute but a little bit time consuming.

Have also made some needlefelted beads for bracelets and earrings, they look very funky.

Any one discovered any new books or information that might be of interest to the group.

Sandie what is the online course you are doing? It sounds interesting.

Dianne, your hats are fantastic, I am sure I only taught you the bag? The student has far surpassed the teacher, well done, great work.

Ardione, I think you are right. It is time for a scarf swap. If you want to do it and have the time, that’s fine, if you would prefer, I am happy to take over. Let me know what you would like to do.

Keep in touch everyone all the best. Me

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what size piece of silk most people start with to felt a shawl.?? I keep thinking and rethinking this. I know a lot depends on the amount of fibre you lay on it  etc. Maybe I am thinking too hard today and need to leave it for a few days.

Just had a look at Julies hats on the site. The black you used in some has a wonderful shine to it. Just gorgeous.

A friend just got a book out of the library for me, Felted Jewellery by candie cooper. Very inspiring . While I was looking on the internet about her I came across a site called STRONG FELT if anyone hasn't seen this it is really worth a look. I fell in love with a  lot of her bags  I  loved the magnificent simplicity and subtle ways she used the textures in muted colours on some of them  I'm off to think about it now.

Hi Pat

Good to hear things are going well for you! Would love to go to Orange but
with family it's still not an option yet, though with them both in h igh
school it's getting closer. Had planned to go and then they moved it from
Mittagong, probably by the time I can go they will disband or move even
further away!! :-(

I am in week 4 of a 12 week course and it has been challenging but great.
We are given a topic for the week and then 4 assignment questions relating
to the notes we are given. We then post our assignment at the end of the
week and can discuss amongst each other on a notice board. We have been
exploring personality types, depression how we value our work, ourselves
and our space. it appears pretty easy but the challenging part is that you
really are self assessing and that can be sometimes confronting.

As an artist who hooked into the commercial side, like so many of us on
this list, I found I lost something of my creative self in meeting
customers needs. It has been my work that has slowly suffered and in turn
myself. This course has been great for redefining myself and what I want to
do. I have been more productive this past month and the jaded feeling has
almost disappeared. There is life at the end of the tunnel!! :-)

It is not a cheap course but so far fo me money worth spending, its a tax
expense anyway.

Got to go, goof luck at Orange.

Cheers

Sandie :-)

Hi Ardione
Just looked at Strong Felt, just love her work. I had a mental block and her stuff has given me a kick start.
Have just finished a "news boy" style cap and some brooches, have another hat under construction and can finish it now.
Sandi, your online course sounds very intriguing, what sort of things are you doing?
Is anyone going to Fibre Forum at Orange?
I have been dying up a new colour range in the 17.5micron batts & tops to take to Orange.

Hi everyone,

The emailing seems to have gone very quite suddenly. What is everyone up to??
A friend just got a book out of the library for me, Felted Jewellery by candie cooper. Very inspiring . While I was looking on the internet about her I came across a site called STRONG FELT if anyone hasn't seen this it is really worth a look. I fell in love with a  lot of her bags  I  loved the magnificent simplicity and subtle ways she used the textures in muted colours on some of them  I'm off to think about it now.

All the best
Ardione

Check the film if you can. It was absolutely amazing. Great rug making. Love the finished product.
