Yes, we are all still out here I guess. We have had a few new members and lots of spammers.

My market stall in Coffs Harbour is doing ok.  Not much time for new felt projects, have been learning to spin.

My elbows and hands are playing up heaps lately. Must be the cold.

Hope to get some done this week. I am running out of  stock. That’s good though.

Keep on felting, feltettes.

Whew Laura! What a busy year you have planned :) :) Sounds so
exciting. You will have to give us reports when you come back from all
your trips!

Where abouts in Melbourne did you live? Both Natalie and I are from
the Eastern suburbs (although we didnt know each other until meeting
up here). I moved here from Croydon.

Dont give up on finding kindred spirits! We are out there!

hugs,
Caz :)

Hi Colleen. Good to meet you :)

Look at all of us Central Vics ! Keep going with felting - esp with
winter coming up. Lots of warm goodies to make and sell at your stall.

Hi Caz, thanks for the encouragement.  I won't be at Bendigo as I am off to Alice Springs to attend Beaniefest.  I have made some hats to enter and am so excited about going.  My friend Loris is coming too.   Together we are the Mad Hatters of Merrigum, and sell our work occasionally at Yarra Glen Craft Market.  We'll be there next Sunday.

I would love to catch up.  Loris and I are both new in the area being refugees from Melbourne and have struggled to connect with local craftspeople.  We have found plenty who do craft in a traditional way, but not those on the fringe.  We saw a great exhibition in shepparton recently so we know there are people out there!
I am away for most of July, as I fly on to Cairns to holiday with family.  I used to live there, so it is like going home.  I love the tropical colours and struggle to work in any other palette.

Loris will fly home to Tatura and is not coming on to Cairns.  We have both enteered work in StitchedupFestival in Wangaratta, as has my daughter in law, Lydia.  This is our year for pushing out of our comfort zone!

I used to weave too but haven't done any in a long time.  Have all my reference material still.

regards,
Laura

Hiya Laura!

I'm Caz (aka Carol). As Natalie said, she and I are Central Vics -
live in Elphinstone near Castlemaine. Perhaps we can catch up one day,
maybe at the Sheep and Wool Show in Bgo in July??

Your felting experience sounds great - I would love to see some of
your work. Have you set up an album in the group files? Most of us
have a few bits and pieces in there.

Welcome to the group :)

Thanks Krishna

I'm in the Goulburn Valley, West of Shepparton, mid way between Kyabram and Tatura.  The town is Merrigum.

I've been making felt balls for over 20 years but have just started with flat felt, nuno, and now  felt hats.  I also knit and felt.

Have made some entries for Beaniefest in Alice Springs, one knitted and felted, one felt hat base with needle felt trimmings and pleated shibori, and the third is a mix of wet felt and needle felt.  Today I worked on another hat as I want to improve my felt making.

One problem of learning mostly from books is the lack of ability to evaluate each step of the process.  I am learning from my mistakes, and writing notes to myself to understand why I am doing each step.

Regards,

Laura

Hi Everyone,

I will be in Melbourne for a couple of days at the end of the month and wanted to know if there were any supply shops that can't be missed. I've already got artisans and beautiful silks on the list. Anyone know of any??

I am looking forward to seeing your sleeveless jacket Meg. I made a vest last year that I wear to death and am thinking of another and maybe some for the girls.

Happy felting everyone

Wow!  What lovely work this lady makes!
I so wish I had the time and freedom to just play and create what ever came to mind. :)

As to clothing, I have mad a all in one resist skirt, but most of the time tend to make sheets of felt and do the cut and sew job.
Then use my off cuts to make mixed media paintings. Lol

Hi Ardione,
Hopefully it will be a sleeveless jacket. I have not made anything but samples after
Charlotte's workshop. I bought 10 metres of crepe silk and decided to make something
"spectacular". :-). Will photograph it when I am finished! Incidentally I only used 2 metres not
10!! Unless you use the new technique after the workshop I tend to forget how it all went

Hi Carol

When  you want to attach handles to a bag, if you are doing a resist one, make a felt rope, leaving the ends dry, so that they can be placed in the correct locations on the bag as you make it.  Fan out the dry ends, then place in the appropriate places, then put another layer of wool over ends to strengthen.  Wet when ready and felt.  You will not need to make felt over a cord or rope, because you will have made a strong enough felt rope.

I have not tried to sew ribbon to felt, so cannot help out there.  I prefer to felt it on.

It is very cold here in Perth too, and wet also.

Best Wishes

Julie

Hello Feltettes!,
Lovely to see all the scarves. I have a new computer and been off line for a wee while.
Glad to hear you are getting well Julie. After some sunny weather we are having a cold spell.
No wood fire as Jules is having trouble chopping wood (gettin' on in years!!) so we are using
gas heating.
Sandie how are you? Did you get my snail mail address? Or was this one of the casualties of
my old computer? Hope all is well with you and yours Sandie.
Felting seems to have come to a stand still .Have laid out large piece on the shed table in the

Hello Feltettes!,
Lovely to see all the scarves. I have a new computer and been off line for a
wee while.
Glad to hear you are getting well Julie. After some sunny weather we are
having a cold spell.
No wood fire as Jules is having trouble chopping wood (gettin' on in years!!)
so we are using
gas heating.
Sandie how are you? Did you get my snail mail address? Or was this one of the
casualties of
my old computer? Hope all is well with you and yours Sandie.

Thanks again Ardione, the photos are lovely, quite artistic! I made No.2 and Mum, (Suzanne) made No.3.

What should we swap next? Any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas for felted men’s stuff, apart from scarves?

Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery, Julie. Keep at it.

Love the photo of you Carol, the scarf really suits you.

I am having a Mary Kaye makeup party thing today. Heavens knows how I got conned into that. But you are all very welcome.LOL

Starts at 0930.

It’s cutting in to my felting time. Pooh.

I have 2 orders to fill and now I am working dayshift, my time is more limited.

All the best.

See you at 0930.!!
