Welcome back Ardione :)  Glad you enjoyed your time in Melbourne. I found my head spinning so much at Beautiful Silks that I COULDN"T decide what I wanted *lol*

Natalie and I are talking about spending a day in Melb soon for the sole reason of art-supply shopping, so we'll have to put Artisans on the list (thanks for explaining in another email :) )

btw, Natalie's computer is out of action right now so I'm relaying info back to her when I see her :)

I think it was me that mentioned swaps, as I really need more felting experience and to be kept accountable, and I think swaps would do it!  I have no particular items in mind at the moment but will give anything a go.

hugs,
Caz :)

Hi everyone,

Made it back from Melbourne with a slight detour on the way home as Maroochy airport was flooded. Very wet up here at the moment. Great time at beautiful silks and artisans bookshop.  Should have come home inspired but I am having trouble getting motivated.

Did someone mention a swap. I am happy to organize one again.  Any suggestions?? Some one mentioned placemats.  I am open for ideas.

Hi Feltettes

I am driving to Quarading to meet with Carol tomorrow and we plan to have a good old rousing felting session.....that is, if we will be able to stop talking long enough.  I am going to impart with some of my knowledge of bag making and scarf making and whatever else I can help her out with.

I will remember to take the camera with me.

I have that book already!!!  And guess what?  I have even taught the author in one of my classes in Conneticutt when I was in USA.  I also visited her studio.....great place.  Christine lives in Massachusetts.  She is a lovely person too.  The book was still in the editing stage when I was there, so I was in the Know as to when it would come out.

Have I made you all jealous yet?????

Hi Julie & Teresa,

IMHO, the absolute bestest book on felting is 'Uniquely Felt' (here's the link to it at Amazon http://tinyurl. com/45qtr9There are 10 reviews for it at Amazon - all 5 star (One review is by our own lovely Natalie) and is great value to buy from the USA at the moment with the great exchange rate. Even with postage, it will cost about $25 Aus from there.

See if you can borrow a copy from your local library if you want to check it out before buying it - you won't be disappointed.

hugs,
Caz :)

Hi Julie

Thanks for the email and the big Hello.  Much appreciated.

You are right about the winter days they are far too short and the daylight is so important when felting with different colour tones of wool and alpaca.  I mainly use alpaca for my scarves as it is so soft and it felts a lot finer than the wool I am presently using.

I have been busy with scarves and felt landscapes and shawls over the past month.  I have sold a few in a local gallery and am very pleased with myself.  I sold quite a few last year as well.  I was updating my art journal the other day and I was surprised by the changes in my felt art over the past four years.  The tones are softer and the textures are more complex.

I know the book that you bought, I was eyeballing it on the web last night, I was temped to buy it too but was not sure how much wet felting was in it.  Can you tell me if it includes wet felt work?  I loved the picture of the landscape sky on the cover.  Wow.

Talk again soon

Cheers

Hey Teresa

Hi and Welcome in case I have not said it before...... you will get the hang of it......just get all the emails through your normal email site, and you won't have to navigate too much, only when you want to see the piccy's, which are quite easy to do (see the bottom of your email).

It is very quiet on the list at present, and also in my household.  I have been unpicking some machine embroidery that I did on some of my felt.....decided that I did not like what I had produced, so out it had to come.  Now I have to start again.

Not a lot gets done by me in the winter.....I seem to go to work in the dark and come home in the dark, and because I work long hours, I am very tired when I come home, so it is almost straight to bed, so that I can get up at the ungodly hours that I do.  Never mind, it will not be forever, I guess.  Sometimes I do not get to even check the emails for a week or more, by which time, I am having to answer so many I cannot keep up.

I bought a new book tother day.....called ART IN FELT.  As I am writing this at work, I cannot have a look at the book to relay the author's name, and off the top of my head, I cannot remember it.  I got it at the Art and Craft Show at the Convention Centre in Perth the other week, when I took my mother in to see it in May.  The author takes a lot of her inspiration from the sky and clouds etc.

Best wishes to all you feltettes.

Cheers

*lol* Nah - I just like to have a look at new photos at the group every now and then, and when I saw that Nat had a piccy up I thought I'd join in.

Hey, the only reason I did was that one of my DDs took a series of photos of me a while ago that I'd forgotten about, but came accross reecently when I was looking for some we needed for art school. Usually, I can't stand photos of myself!! but this lot wasn't too bad :) :) :)

Hi all !

The only felting I've done lately is some scuptural work in alpaca for school - a couple of seamless pieces. Work has been taking up too much of my art time though! Wish money didn't make the world go round - grrr!!.

I reckon I need some regular swaps/challenges to keep myself accountable - the only way I'm gonna get better is to keep on felting, right!

Keep at it Teresa! It does get easier :) We just went to wireless broadband (our only option other than satellite out here) and although a bit more exxy, I gotta admit to liking the extra speed.

hugs,
Caz :)

Hi all,

thought I'd better post a pic to my file showing the world (or at
least you guys) what I look like :)

Not as 'glam' as my firey red-headed friend and neighbour Natalie
though! Woo hoo! Although, my hair's been dyed purple since that photo
was taken. Oh, and I'm not as shiney as I look in the pic either!! rofl!

G'night all.
Caz :)

It does get easier :) We just went to wireless broadband (our only option other than satellite out here) and although a bit more exxy, I gotta admit to liking the extra speed.

hugs,
Caz :)

Hello All

I have been extreemly quiet.  I am new to Aussie Feltmakers and am still trying to work out how to navigate through the site.  Not having access to broadband does not help as my computer is extreemly slow.  I hope to work out how to comment back and fourth and how to post up photos soon.  Regards darter84

Yes, we are all still out here I guess. We have had a few new members and lots of spammers.

My market stall in Coffs Harbour is doing ok.  Not much time for new felt projects, have been learning to spin.

My elbows and hands are playing up heaps lately. Must be the cold.

Hope to get some done this week. I am running out of  stock. That¢s good though.

Keep on felting, feltettes.
