We  do have swaps from time to time and over the last few years we have had a christmas ornament swap.

So, if anybody would like to join in again this year?

I would be happy to be swap mum.

More about that on another post.

Stay safe all

Hi Krishna,
Sorry to hear your elbow is still causing you some trouble.
Have you had a go at the embellishing machine?
Or light needle felt work ?

I know time can to really hard to find when your working .

Maybe, you would like to join in on the Christmas swap?

If we have one.

Hugs Nat

Yes we are very quiet at the moment. I have lost my felting mojo, due to working almost fulltime and a slight elbow injury.

I hope everyone is well and busy creating.

Welcome to all the new members.

Remember Fridays are our market day and if anyone has anything to sell they are welcome to advertise.

Have updated my blog with a photo of a knitted shawl I made before the physio said I had to rest my arm

How about everyone puts a little message out about what they are up to for us to catch up. Doesn’t have to be felt related.

Sounds like a lot of fun Meg. : )
I think there is a  Geelong fibre forum Coming up soon ?
Carol and I were hoping to go.

While I have not really been doing any felting, I have been making art/craft and having a ball coming up with lots of ideas. Thanks to  the course that carol and I are doing this year!

Honestly folks, go and have a chat to your local adult learning centre and see what they have going.
For me, its been wonderful getting to meet and learn about how others do things in life and learning to cope with how other folks work.lol
I have a lot of trouble dealing with people normally and its been a big learning curve having to respond and work with others...... Not to mention the many different art styles.

I discovered I have 10 ( o.m.g ) lol, web sites.  Thank god I only pay for two, my e-bay shop and a free webs shop. The rest are all free , some are photo sites and two are blogs. I was told that one should get as many sites going in order to get your work/art/business known or remembered. Not sure its all working, but I have a number of hits to my photos and I will just have to finish my real web sites and see how that goes.
In order to keep cash flowing, I have branched out to small gifts/cards/ sculptor /photos/ and little girls jewelry.-well, they are the plans for next year.

As to the market, well it turns out castlemaine loves hand made, so long as they don't have to pay much for it!
I am sure this is the same story in other places?
I was only making $50.00 for 5 hours work on the day and most scarves  people wanted to pay only $10.00 to $12.00 dollars for.

Well now that Christmas is around the corner, I have turned my attention to the summer art show and what little stocking fillers I could make.

My kitten season is about to begin , I have a lass due today!

Well that's it for now.

Hugs natalie

Hi all,

Welcome to our newest member :) Yep, we tend to chat in fits and starts as life allows. We're a friendly bunch!!

I've been trying to catch up with finding the floor in my house this school holidays, as up until now I've been at school 3 days and working 3 days. Of course the family have been wanting to take the final day up with other stuff, so housework has been very much on the back burner.

Who knows what this last term will hold, other than it's bound to be busy - the group project and other stuff with my school, one DD needing a costume made for something in 3 weeks, my DDs both with VCE (HSC) exams,  staff re-arrangements at work, and of course Christmas!! WHEW - as soon as I find my workbench under everything, I'll try to incorporate felting into some of those things *lol*

warm fuzzies,
Caz :)

We have been very quiet lately, but I would like to ask Krishna, when do we get to see photos of the bags in the swap?  I put the one I made up on the photos, but haven't seen any others, apart from  the one I received from Natalie.  Come on everyone, put up a photo or two...

Hi Julie,

The photos will need to be put up by whoever has taken them. I think it was Ardione who organised that swap. But anyone who has a photo of the bag they received is very welcome to put it in.

How’s things with you Julie?

I haven’t been doing any felting or any craft lately. Have been told to rest my arms as I have a bit of a golfer’s elbow going on. Have rested for 2 weeks so far, not sure I can keep resting for much longer. Getting very restless. LOL

I went to Beaniefest. It was interesting, challenging and has helped
me work out my direction. The hats I sent were mostly knitted but my
competition entries were fulled, felted, and needlefelted. Am waiting
on their return. I sold most of my knitted ones at $35 each. I did a
couple of workshops including one on wet felting, and made the best
felt I had made so far. I have been making lots of felted hats since
I came home and think they are improving. Some of the competition
entries were stolen in the first few days, according to the ladies I
knew who worked in Beanie Central - the selling area. People try them
on and I found one of my entries in a completely different area of the
gallery from where it was displayed. it's a consideration if you plan
to enter. Overall it was an interesting experience and certainly
worth the trip from Melbourne.

Hi Caz,
Just mailed my work in. Would love to go, maybe next year.
They take a healthy commission and limit the selling price to $70.00, so you have to take that into consideration when making the hats. I always enter as many as I can in the contest ( 3 this year) as there is no limit on the selling price. I asked $125.00 for those.

good morning everyone

I'm hoping someone can help me out, I will be coming to Brisbane soon to work the Quilt Show, I've never been to Brisbane before and unfortunately don't have any family or friends there, so is there anyone in this group that wants to adopt me for the week.

I've been told I'm a very low maintenance quest.
My only requirements are that you are not to far out of town and very close to public transport to get me to the venue (as I have legs that don't work to well) and that I don't have to share my bed/room with a cat, dogs are fine it's just cats that I'm allergic to - so anyone want to adopt me ...........please

fingers crossed = cheers

Hi Petra
Here is a link to the web site for a felt rolling machine, Australian Made. www.snowycreek. com.au
I have one and it sure takes all the labour out of rolling. I wish I had more time to use it but so far I have done several pieces from medium thickness, using fine merino to very thick ( two batts plus embellishments) using strong merino.  Made a blanket for my Granddaughter using super fine merino. Takes a little time to learn the best way. Don't get fibre too wet makes the bundle too heavy. Very, very fast way to make prefelts. Start out rolling slow for a few minutes the up the speed.  All in all it allows me to felt items I would never attempt  by hand. If you intend to do a lot of felting, it is the way to go.
Easy of moving it is also a plus. Very well made, a quality item.

Hi All
I am interested in finding out more on the felting machines. The ones where you put it in and then it rolls it for you. Has anyone got one and if yes then what are your thoughts and where did you get it, how much etc.
thanks in advance.

Hello felt lovers.  Sheep

Julie: Why thank you very much  my dear!
I must say, I was a bit worried about who would get my bag being that it was so "pretty".lol
I love to make things that' I' like when doing swaps , not things that I "have" to make normally.

Pat: thanks for the info on your bag pat. I was wondering what made up the fibre types for the middle part.

NEW PERSON: Welcome to our little group P.J  Visit My Mail Stamp!

What shell we do next?????

Well....... Should we have a needle felting challenge? Either machine or hand?
We could have two groups, one for a flat picture and one for a small 3d item?
I will start by donating a $ 12.00 prize to the winner of both groups, to any of the shops that one of our members own.
The felt MUST be new for the group, not something that has been made before or shown or won before and is now sitting around the studio.
Not sure about time yet, but I will make a folder to place the picture of our work in.

Have a think.

Hugs Nat

Thank you Ardione for taking the time to co-ordinate this swap.  Its a pleasure to receive and give ones work.
Take care everyone.
