Hello everyone
We just returned from Alice Springs, 5800 kilometers round trip from here. Put a few miles on the new car.
It was some sight to see 6000 beanies for sale and hundreds of buyers.

The competition beanies were awe inspiring. They were so impressed with Sandy O"Neil's beanie that they set up a new category for it and acquired it for there permanent collection.

Do you have a picture Sandy that you can post?  We weren't allowed to take pictures of competition beanies because of copyright.

I taught 3 classes and most students were so pleased to take a finished needle felted hat home after just 2 hours.

Now it is back to work, catching up on orders.

Hi Pat

Good to hear you are back safe and sound!! What a trip!!

Was also interested to hear of your experience teaching, Lisa Waller and Gay tried to get me to teach this year but Shawna is in year 12 and WE are doing the HSC!!!LOL!!

This is my second beanie they will have acquired, they also bought the one that won peoples choice last year. Apparently they are planning to send the exhibition overseas in the future!

Will try and get a picture up in the next hour or so, we have been really busy and the pics are still on the camera!!! J

We are hoping to go next year, Shawna will be at uni and can fend for herself (actually she is planning on staying at my Mums sometimes so she can go there!) and we thought we would take Erin, she will be doing her school certificate but we feel the experience of the trip is a bit more important. I have been to Central Australia before but neither Ken nor the girls have so should be great!

Looking forward to getting back into some serious Feltmaking next year!

Cheers

Sandie J

Hi Sandie, my friend and I were volunteers at the Beanie Festival and your Eucalypt Man was very popular with the crowd.
Hugs Kerry.

Hi Sandie
I have just taken a look at your photos of the beanies.  They are great.  Well Done Sandie.

You may all wonder about the new location address on my signature line.....well, I have gone and shifted back to Busselton again.  This time, I am living with my partner, Ian, whom I met 11 months ago.  I was also made redundent from my job with Thrifty Car Rentals, so now I am in the process of looking for part time work down here again.  I will be able to go to the same original feltmaking group that I belonged to years ago in Bunbury, which is only a 25 minute drive from here.

If I have part time work, I will be able to devote more time to my passion....won't that be great!?  Not a lot of it has been done lately, because of the intensity of my work, and the hours that I had to put in.
To all those \who managed to get to the Beanie Festival, I say, Lucky people.  I used to live in Alice for 8 years, and have been back there only twice since 1977.  Must go there again one day.

Best wishes to all.
Julie

Hi Kerry

Thanks for letting me know about the beanie fest – how lucky like Pat to be involved!

I had a friend, funny little fellow in his 60’s, (bit like a garden gnome!) who used to attend a lot of the fibre events, Bendigo, Bothwell, Alice Springs just to name a few. Unfortunately he passed away last Christmas and so he wasn’t there to give me my customary phone call to let me know how the beanie looked and what the festival was like, so it was nice to get some feedback from a few of you. It’s hard to know how your work will be received and I make mine not only to express myself but to bring pleasure to other people, so it’s nice to know I have achieved that!

BTW how was your trip???

Better go I think my dinner is finally ready, it must have been the grumbling I did!!LOL!!
