HOME GROWN ROOTS PRESENTS;
Natalie D-Napoleon on her Return To Australia tour
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\
----------------------------
As part of the ongoing promotion for the Home Grown Roots Volume 3 Album
releasing this month through MGM and featuring
Paul Kelly, John Butler, Ash Grunwald and of course Natalie herself this
fabulous tour below has a little help from the Folks at the Foghorn
office.......
Everything that you have heard about Natalie D-Napoleon is in fact true ...
The Napoleon portion of her name does owe its origins to the famed French
military leader. Her emotive vocals did evolve as a child through singing old
standards with her father as they rode their produce to market. She has spent
the last six months playing and recording in the USA. And Natalie is making a
handful of select appearances in Sydney at the beginning of August.
It has been a busy six months for Natalie D-Napoleon. Since relocating to Santa
Barbara, California, she has played shows across America in support of American
roots heavy-weights such as Devon Sproule, Todd Snider, and Victoria Williams.
She even joined our very own The Gin Club when they recently sojourned their way
through Southern California.
In addition to playing countless shows across the country on her own, Natalie
ventured out to Austin, Texas for the 2008 installment of SxSW. There Natalie
shared the stage with Ash Grunwald, Dan Kelly and Whitley at the annual
Australian Music Collective event at Emo's while also throwing forth a solo set
at the Western Australian Artist Showcase with The Stems.
During her time in Santa Barbara, Natalie was photographed by Santi Visalli
(photographer of five US presidents, Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson to name
but a few), pulled together a band that featured Kenny Edwards (Linda Ronstadt's
longtime collaborator), and had a Hollywood moment when she was seated opposite
Nerf Herder's Parry Gripp (who wrote the theme song to Buffy) at a dinner party.
Natalie occupies a unique musical niche. She pours honesty and integrity into
songs that flow uninhibitedly from her heart. Her latest release, After The
Flood, not only demonstrates her maturity as a writer and vocalist, but stands
as testament to her creative blossoming as an artist.
Along with touring through Australia, Natalie is also featured on the
forthcoming third installment of Foghorn Record's Homegrown Roots compilation
(released August 25th) which also boasts contributions from Paul Kelly, John
Butler, Ash Grunwald, and Mia Dyson. Not bad company to be keeping.
