Daniel Dawes Launches New Album "Strange Things"
Sydney-based Brit-pop aficionado and former singer from The Winters, Daniel
Dawes is set to launch his debut album, "Strange Things".
Following a string of very well attended warm up shows throughout Sydney, the
official launch of "Strange Things" will occur at The Supper Club in Taylor's
Square on Wednesday March 25th.
"Strange Things" was recorded over a lengthy period after first being honed in
pre production with Marshall Cullen. The tracking was handled by Andrew Beck
(The Mentals, Tainted Toys, Modular Lounge) at Damien Gerards with mixing duties
completed by Russell Pilling (def wish caste, Radio Birdman, Paul Turner).
Quotes to date;
"It is music of substance and emotion, at once nostalgic and fresh" (Clem
Bastow, Inpress).
The Drum Media's Mark Neilson remarked that "There is a classic, layered pop
sound with a hint of emotion and wistfulness about it. Think Damon Albarn
(Blur) fronting the Beach Boys" (Drum Media).
Richard Kingsmill (Triple J) noted of Dawes' music that it has "a real '60s
English vibe about it. A little of Tim Rogers in the singer's style".
One of the feature tracks on the album, "High Place", recently received an
"Honourable Mention for Notable Songwriting Achievement" in the Songwars
Songwriting competition run by Steve Pinder from the Moody Blues.
Daniel Dawes' debut album "STRANGE THINGS" will be available in stores through
Foghorn Records/MGM FROM MARCH 16. A sneak preview is available on iTunes March

NSW Central Coast-based singer songwriter Michael Peter is releasing his debut
album, "Something Along Those Lines" in March 2009. Michael will be touring
nationwide in February and March on the My Favourite Tour launching the single
from the album, "My Favourite". Michael wrote "Something Along Those Lines"
while touring Australia for most of last year, playing in sold out venues across
Australia, promoting his 2 EP's "The 25 Paper Planes EP" (2007) and "Patched Up
Heart" (2008) both of which received Triple J airplay.
"Patched Up Heart" had the Sunday Telegraph describing him as an "earnest,
raw, promising new artist". The single "Last I Heard" again received national
airplay including Triple J and Nova, as well as many local stations.
"Something Along Those Lines" was produced by Michael himself in collaboration
with former LA producer/engineer Andrew Beck
The tour launching the first single "My Favorite" will visit all the capitals
and some regional towns.

What will follow Winter? For Daniel Dawes, founding member of Sydney based
psych-rock outfit The Winters, this was the question being asked as his band
began to succumb to the pressures that often plague indie groups. With The

Central Coast singer songwriter Michael Peter has been touring nationwide on
his "My Favourite Tour"

The seeds of these solo ambitions were sown when Dawes played a string of solo
shows.The gigs went well and Dawes began to pursue the project seriously.

tracking was handled by Andrew Beck(The Mentals, Tainted Toys, Modular Lounge)

Dawes has been quietly chuffed by the response of his peers to his work. Over
the years reviewers have noted that "It is music of substance and emotion, at

Nick and Liesl WA Tour 09
In Febuary 2009 NSW based acoustic/roots duo Nick and Liesl will be flying coast
to coast for their first Western Australian tour, with a list of show (see
below) finishing with the Nannup Music Festival Feb 28th to Mar 1st.
An enchanting duo. Two unique voices, flowing harmonies and captivating songs
seem to bring Nick and Liesl a loving reception wherever they go. Their
distinctive sound is the coming together of two singer/songwriters with
influences ranging from Nick's love of Cat Stevens and James Taylor to Liesl's
classical songbooks and the local folk music of her childhood home Sweden.
Although only two people, the pair present a sound that fills large theatres and
small village churches alike. Their stories are many and varied, as is their
performance, with each switching between instruments along to the ever-present
stomp box and tambourine.
After forming while on tour in Europe in early 2007, Nick and Liesl first gained
recognition as a brilliant live act performing at festivals throughout Australia
and supporting artist such as Kate Miller-Heike, Harry Manx, Kasey Chambers and
Shane Nicholson. In 2008 Nick and Liesl completed their second European tour
playing to packed venues and festivals in Sweden, Germany & the UK before
returning home to launch their debut EP Wyong River at The Basement in Sydney.
Both local and international recognition earned them an invitation to Popkomm in
Berlin as part of an Australian showcase along with artists Clare Bowditch and
Sarah McCleod. While continuing with their success on the Australian festival
circuit the EP received an ABC award, national airplay on ABC and Triple J and
an inclusion on Home Grown Roots Vol 3 along with artists Paul Kelly, John
Butler, Mia Dyson, Ash Grunwald and Karl Broadie.

Julia Stone".

Michael Peter heads out on his favourite tour around the country next
month.......
Central Coast based singer songwriter Michael Peter is releasing his
debut album, "something along those lines" in
March 2009 and will be touring nationwide on his "My Favourite Tour"
launching the first single off the album titled - yes you guessed it!
"My Favourite".
Michael wrote "something along those lines" while touring Australia
for most of last year, promoting his 2 EP's "The
25 paper planes EP" (2007) and "Patched Up Heart" (2008) both produced
by Michael Carpenter.
Something along those lines was Produced by Michael himself in
collaboration with ex Los Angeles producer/engineer Andrew Beck and
recorded and mixed at Damien Gerards in Sydney .
A marked difference from the previous EP's is using a live band to
track the tunes and the added sophistication of extra sounds and
textures as well as the usual wonderful backing vocals from the likes
of Sarah Humphreys (who will be featuring on some of the tour dates)
and Nicolle Lane.
The new album mixes Michael's usual heart felt vocals and unique and
thoughtful storytelling with influences from folk, roots, soul and
rock making for an album that is hard to pigeonhole and a pleasure to
listen to.
The Digital and CD Release will be online from March 1 and in stores March 9 on
MGM
The tour follows on from the excellent fanbase Michael has spent the
last 3 years building around the country and will take in a limited
number of cafes and even house concerts performing in a couple of
lounge rooms as he did on the last tour. The My Favourite tour will
break the ice for the single and start 2009 rolling for Michael who
plans to tour the album more extensively later in the year. (See

really set this band apart. With their self defined genre "Positive
Consciousness Rock" and donation of part proceeds of each gig to
charity within the town they play, they are creating a ground swell of
fans who identify with their social and environmental consciousness
and show it at sold out shows.
Going it alone with a small team of friends and family this Byron Bay
band have pushed their 6 track debut EP "Everyone" to levels majors
would be envious of achieving. Three songs seeing High Rotation
Commercial Airplay and two Video Clips in retail and venue rotation
with "Take it Easy" spending time on Austar, Channel V, and Rage.
At the pinnacle is the debut airing of their Video Clip for first
single "Take it Easy" on none other than Video Hits, Channel ten
