Here's what Michael had to say about the new single Shop Around

-Pitt Street Mall on a busy day inspired this concoction of lyrics. I never
meant for it to become a song, I was just letting off some steam when I wrote
the words. Then on my way across NSW I reached a place called Hay (about as far
away as you can get from Pitt Street Mall) and found myself putting the song
together.

The new album Something Along Those Lines

Michael wrote "something along those lines" while touring Australia

for most of last year, promoting his 2 EP's "The

25 paper planes EP" (2007) and "Patched Up Heart" (2008) both produced

by Michael Carpenter.

Something along those lines was Produced by Michael himself in

collaboration with ex Los Angeles producer/engineer Andrew Beck and

recorded and mixed at Damien Gerard Studios in Sydney .

The new album mixes Michael's usual heart felt vocals and unique and

thoughtful storytelling with influences from folk, roots, soul and

rock making for an album that is hard to pigeonhole and a pleasure to

listen to.

Paul Appelkamp
tour hits a resounding note of success.....

   www.myspace.com/paulappelkamp

Midway through his current national tour Paul finds himself firing on all
cylinders - from a sold out night at The Brass Monkey in Cronulla at the start
of the run to a full interview schedule following each tour destination. "I've
been touring for some time but on the current tour people's reactions to the
new EP and live shows have been better than ever. And interview requests are
now coming to me from press and radio without chasing them, which is good. I'm
loving the way these songs are developing live too - every show the energy is
just getting bigger".

This enthusiasm to play more and more comes through in a big way on the
stunning new self titled EP with Paul taking the term "solo artist" to heart.
Not only has he written all the songs, but he also plays every instrument, from
acoustic guitar and bass through to stomp-box and harmonica.

Beautifully produced by the multi-talented Genevieve Maynard (Stella One
Eleven, Bughouse) at Revolution Studios in Sydney, the Paul Appelkamp CD
combines a fresh take on the well established approach of acoustic guitar and
vocals. Sparse rhythms, gorgeous vocals and tasty guitar playing, this EP takes
modern roots music and captures something truly unique and special. This is a
true musical artist with a strong focused sound.

"This is definitely one EP worth hunting down. totally awesome. a musical
aphrodisiac. bring on the full length album! Five Stars! Release of the Month!"

A Very Unique Story

When Very Unique Existence's singer and song-writer Rich Latimer, posted a live
demo recording from a mobile phone of their concept album "Hear the Heart", to
Rolling Stone magazine, he wasn't sure if it was his Nimbin upbringing, 6 days
of no sleep during pre-production, or the trauma of nearly losing a 17yr old
brother in a car crash just before recording which inspired the random act. But
when he got a call from Dan Lander, Rolling Stone's editor, three weeks later he
knew the band were onto something truly special with their soon to be released
album.

After some early stops and starts, the band found success early last year with
the release of their second EP/DVD "Everyone". The tracks "Take it Easy", "Pop
Song" and "Looking Down" all secured regional, high rotation commercial airplay
plus spots on Nova, Triple J, Soundslikecafe, SMA and a Top 20 on Video Hits.
The band also earned the 2008 New Artist to retail position via Mood Media, and
had tracks placed in Bondi Rescue, City Homicide, and more recently The
Recruits. Touring wise they have supported Wolfmother, The Rouge Traders and
Kate Miller Heidke. Early inroads have been made into the USA as well via
Planetary Group and CMJ Magazine's tipsheet .

The buzz today is around the band's soon to be released album "Hear the Heart".
Likened by some to "Houses of the Holy" by Led Zeppelin, and being strong enough
even as a live demo to grab the interest of some major players including the
above mentioned Rolling Stone editor . Recently Pete Murray was on Sydney Radio
speaking about the band during Sound Relief. Two of the now famous "Mobile Phone
Demos" are still on the band's website for a limited time. "Embrace" (Taylor's
Song) co-written by Rich and Wes for Rich's brother Taylor while he was on life
support recently after a car crash, and the beautiful big ballad "Wasting Time".

Very Unique Existence's self-defined genre, "Positive Consciousness Rock" sees
the band donate part proceeds of every gig to a charity. This now has people
talking about the links between the positive messages in the music and their
commitment to walk their talk. If you hadn't heard about the little indie band
from Byron Bay with the big heart and truly unique sound, you now know who to
look out for this year as they bring their "Positive Consciousness Rock" to the
forefront of the Australian and International Market.

Like the band itself, the record has a heavy concept, featuring a continuity of
songs that Latimer hopes will open minds everywhere - Dan Lander Rolling Stone
June 2009

Blending influences from Silverchair to the lighter side of Kyuss, The group,
which has built a strong fan base by actively involving fan feedback into
song-writing and delivering rocking live shows locally and internationally, is a
more than healthy introduction to local radio. The Music Network 2008

With only a few days to go till the Snowy Mountains of Music and the
opening of the snow season, Perisher Valley is moving into action.

With over 45 acts and 140 shows at the Snowy Mountains of Music, Perisher

fridge in preparation for festival-goers getting into festival fever. With
early snowfalls and snowmaking activities already begun, Perisher will be
the perfect place for a Winter escape on the June long weekend. Even our
artists are pulling on their fluffy hoodies and trawling for the coolest
designer snow gear. (Wild Martins pictured).

If you’re celebrity spotting at the Snowy Mountains of Music look out for
the Festival Ambassador, one of the fastest skiiers in the the world and 6
times Paralympic gold medallist - Mr Michael Milton. Festival-goers may
also chance on Mr Tex Perkins or the very stylish Taasha from The Audreys
strutting their stuff on the snow fields.

CHARLTON HILL NEW ALBUM - SMALL TRIUMPHS IN TRAFFIC (MGM)

LAUNCH - Bar Me, Kings Cross, Sydney on Thursday June 4. Special guest for the
night is Dave McCormack. "Success to me is very small stages, a gig in Sydney.
I hope to have people there who want to hear the music and leave feeling it's
been a great night out".

Put yourself in Charlton Hill's shoes.

One day you're in London at Abbey Road putting finishes touches to your debut
album recorded on the same desk John Lennon previously used and the next day
your follow up album gets lost in a major record label merger. Your career now
hangs in the balance.....

The new album "Small Triumphs In Traffic"(MGM) not only embraces Charlton's past
experiences, but it forges ahead with something fresh and new. Of the production
Charlton says, "It's very organic. unashamedly so" before adding, "It's meant to
sound like a room of guys playing music together because it is! It's meant to
reflect what we do live".

"Small Triumphs In Traffic" represents a true artist evolving and taking
control of his career. "It's so liberating to let go of the past, to say, I want
to file away my life's lessons to date, the 'me' that was then is not the 'me'
that is now - I'm moving on".

The first single "As Long As You Can" is at radio now and will be officially
launched at Bar Me, Kings Cross, Sydney on Thursday June 4. Special guest for
the night is Dave McCormack. "Success to me is very small stages, a gig in
Sydney. I hope to have people there who want to hear the music and leave
feeling it's been a great night out".

Charlton's new album "Small Triumphs In Traffic" is out now via MGM.

"Well produced and thought out collection of great music that would keep you
cruising on a lazy afternoon... Well worth adding to your CD collection".

soundslikecafé - surprising survey results!

How many café customers hear the artists on soundslikecafe every week? Hundreds?
Thousands? Tens of thousands? In actual fact, it's even more.

Since its inception in 2003 soundslikecafe has established itself as the premium
café music network in Australia. With over 1200 cafes nationally, this unique
product has carved out a valuable place in the market as both a provider and
supporter of new music. Earlier this year we carried out our first ever customer
survey and the results were very surprising.

Over 1.3 million people a week are being exposed to the artists featured on
soundslikecafe. That's more than the entire population of Adelaide. More
importantly, over 880,000 sit down rather than take away their coffee so they
are enjoying the music even longer.

Based on an average of five trading days a week, over 260,000 customers a day
are listening to soundslikecafe. Overwhelmingly the results showed that the
cafes are playing soundslikecafe every day, with over 70% stating that they had
been playing soundslikecafe CD's for 3 years or more.

What was also surprising was the number of cafes who reported purchasing music
based on the music they heard on soundslikecafe. Over 50% of cafes had purchased
music at least four times a year after hearing the artists featured on
soundslikecafe and they all stated that their regular customers purchase even
more.

CALLING FOR PLACEMENTS ;

To be a part of this unique series make sure you book now.

Volume 26 must close by Friday May 29.

Subject:: Fw: For Immediate Release - Paul Goddard - 2am Flight
marshall@...
Send Email Send Email

Seemingly Complex Question;

What do Agent Brown from the Matrix, Barry Humphries' musical director, a
guitarist from Mental As Anything, a star of Farscape and Stargate, and Massive
Attack's mixer on the classic Blue Lines album, have in common?

Simple Answer;

2am flight - Paul Goddard's debut album.

Goddard, gathered together this unlikely cast of collaborators to help him
create a loungey, chilled out trip of an album. 2am flight's inspiration came
from Goddard's love of cool 60s soundtracks, 70s and 80s electronica and the
dance music revolution of the 90s. 2am flight consists of one part lounge,
several parts jazz, equal parts electro and brass, shaken, stirred and decanted
into a smooth 11 tracks of instrumentals and vocals.

Goddard, a successful actor on both stage and screen (Babe, Holy Smoke, The
Matrix), started creating the album in his Kings Cross studio while working the
Sydney Theatre Company (STC).

It was while playing the role of Stark, on the hit Sci-fi show Farscape, that
Goddard met lead actress Claudia Black. Claudia, was the inspiration for the
track Groovy, which she brings to life with her inimitable cool and sassy
delivery.

Between seasons of Farscape, Goddard returned to the stage, appearing with
flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti who was the first instrumentalist to perform
on the album. Alfonzetti, introduced another member of the acclaimed Arebatto
ensemble, instrumentalist and composer, Damian de Boos-Smith who co-produced a
number of 2am flight's tracks, bringing in a collection of jazz musicians, Bill
Risby - piano, Dave Ellis - bass, Paul Panichi - horns.

To add some electricity Mental As Anything guitarist Mike Caen was brought into
the project.. Caen obliged by creating a variety of motifs and hooks that
crackle throughout the album and particularly spark on Vernal Equinox.

Back at the Sydney Opera House and close to the end of 2am's production, Goddard
met Barry Humphries' musical director and co-writer Andrew Ross. Ross had a
listen to the album in progress and suggested bringing in the string ensemble
Fourplay.

To help bring the mix together Goddard called upon Jeremy Allom, who had come to
Goddard's attention not only because of his work as mixer/engineer with Massive
Attack and other stellar international artists but also because of the fine work
he'd done in particular as mixer on Jimmy Little's Messenger album. Allom worked
some magic and several weeks sequestered in Sydney's Big Jesus Burgher studio
saw the project that began in the dead of night in Kings Cross, finally see the
light of day.

The album secured Goddard a deal with Origin Music Publishing, and has lead to a
string of commissions. Currently back in the studio composing the music for the
short film Tribe, Goddard now has the opportunity to stay behind the camera,
scoring the drama instead of performing it.

Taking advantage of the developments in digital distribution 2am flight, was
first made available online, helping it take off around the world. And,
appropriately, several tracks were featured on the Qantas Inflight program. Also
of note is the current Number 8 chart positon on soundslikecafe's national chart
- collating airplay from over 1200 cafes who have been playing the title track
and, in some selected outlets, the entire album.

The album which has been flying around the world digitally is now available in
hard copy in local record stores via Chaos Distribution and is being serviced
nationally to Print, Online and Radio with the ABC National Network already
playing tracks as this goes out.

You can check out 2am flight on www.myspace.com/paulgoddardmusic and iTunes and
Amazon.com or order the CD at www.thecan.com.au/paulgoddard.

Paul Appelkamp
Self titled EP on your desk NOW!

www.myspace.com/paulappelkamp

With a previous solo EP already under his belt and a successful debut CD by his
band Freetown in 2008, Paul Appelkamp delivers a stunning new self titled EP.
Paul has certainly taken the term "solo artist" to heart. Not only has he
written all the songs, but he also plays every instrument, from acoustic guitar
and bass through to stomp-box and harmonica.

Beautifully produced by the multi-talented Genevieve Maynard (Stella One Eleven,
Bughouse) at Revolution Studios in Sydney, the Paul Appelkamp CD combines a
fresh take on the well established approach of acoustic guitar and vocals.
Sparse rhythms, gorgeous vocals and tasty guitar playing, this EP takes modern
roots music and captures something truly unique and special. This is a true
musical artist with a strong focused sound.

"This is definitely one EP worth hunting down. totally awesome. a musical
aphrodisiac. bring on the full length album! Five Stars! Release of the Month!"
Poprepublic, April 2009

   FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MICHAEL ABBOUD - TIME WILL TELL

Latest service via D Star distributed 23/04/09

Byron Bay singer/songwriter Michael Abboud released his latest EP "Time" in
late 2008 . The EP and single draws comparisons to Cat Stevens and Jack Johnson,
and is receiving airplay on a host of community and regional stations across the
country including over 30 regional stations added via Musicpoint as well as
Satellite Music Australia's massive network, Sounds Like Cafe's 1200 cafes
across the country boasting a weekly listening audience in the tens of thousands
and local press and reviews such as;

   Poprepublic 4 star review -

Reminds me of a blend of old school 70's Eagles rock ballads, with the
California rock that hit us via TV shows like "The OC" and "90210". His tracks
are a solidly produced mix of uptempo and laid back instant classics, that are
as comfortable on AC stations, or the charts. It's great music and one that
tells a story - so I wouldn't be surprised if a hundred TV shows pick up these
songs to help plug their storylines! It's very rare that I go and put music onto
my iPod instantly, but it's the kind of music that grows on you as time goes by
and can create a mood instantly just by listening to it. - Rob Manser

   ..and from the man himself....

"The First record I ever bought was the POLICE, I took up drumming when I was
in my early teens and my biggest influence was Stuart Copeland. who turned out
to be my partner in Backstage!

I've been composing and making music all my life and would have to cite Bob
Marley as my favourite artist of all time but I love local talents John Butler
and Sneaky Sound System as well.

I set up some of Australia's and Los Angeles' most infamous clubs (LA's
Backstage with biz partner Ian Copeland) that catered to the music industry's
elite. I often found myself on stage or in a studio in the wee hours performing
alongside diverse talents such as Slash, the Gypsy Kings, Rod Stewart, Mick
Jagger, Sting and Snoop Dog. Moving back has been a new phase of life and I like
to think the music reflects both my past and present location in beautiful Byron
Bay."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Award Winning Duo Nick and Liesl Return to Queensland for More Festival Fun

This April/May NSW duo Nick and Liesl will be heading up the Coast for their
third Queensland festival in

less than 6 months. The Wintermoon festival in Mackay is the destination this
time and music lovers from

Byron Bay to Airlie Beach will have a chance to catch them at various stops
along the way (see full list of

dates for The Wintermoon Tour below).

Nick and Liesl formed while touring in Europe in early 2007 and first gained
recognition as a brilliant live act

performing at festivals throughout Australia and supporting big names such as
Kate Miller-Heidke and Kasey

Chambers and Shane Nicholson. After releasing their self-recorded debut EP Wyong
River last year, the

couple received several nominations and an award at the 2008 ABC Newcastle Music
Awards. With the EP's

release followed national airplay, more touring and an invitation to the music
industry showcase Popkomm in

Berlin later on this year. Their sound is a touching blend of male and female
vocals with the depth of folk

music and the optimism of pop.

The Wintermoon Tour will be Nick and Liesl's last string of shows before heading
back into the studio to

record a long-awaited debut album due for release later in the year. Unable to
stay away from the Queensland

festival scene for too long however, they will be back in August for a
performance at the Yeppoon Village Arts

Festival.

Sounds Like Café - Volume 25 "The Silver Jubliee"

Sounds Like Café celebrates its silver jubilee with the release of Volume 25.

In what is possibly the most international sounding compilation so far, Volume
25 features artists from all over the world including, of course, an extremely
strong collection of Australian independent artists.

Making a very welcome return to Sounds Like Café, and to our shores, is
Hawaii-based singer-songwriter Toni Childs who has not one, but THREE tracks on
Volume 25. Toni will be touring Australia throughout April and has chosen Sounds
Like Café to help spread the word regarding her new album, Keep The Faith (MGM).

Also making a welcome comeback is Sydney-based artist Charlton Hill, who already
has a solid local fan base. Charlton's track "As Long As You Can" is the first
single from his new album Small Triumphs in Traffic (MGM). This track will be
going to radio shortly and is sure to re-establish Charlton's place in the
Australian music scene.

Kicking off Volume 25 is NSW Central Coast-based writer Michael Peter who is
currently touring nationally to support his single "My Favourite". Michael has
been steadily building a national following in the lead up to his debut album
Something Along Those Lines (MGM) which is on sale now.

Currently enjoying some excellent airplay on ABC 702 with her track "New Sun" is
Perth-based singer/songwriter Freya Hanly. Also on Volume 25, hailing from
Germany is Luna Blanca with their track "Pastis". Taken from their current album
Guitar Island (IND) this is perfect for all you flamenco fans out there. Sharon
Gosler from the Netherlands makes a repeat appearance (she was on Volume 20 and
ranked in our top 10 chart) with the title track from her latest album "Shine On
Me".

Feature albums for Volume 25 include the debut solo album by Matchbox 20
guitarist/drummer, Paul Doucette (Warner), The Break and Repair Method on a full
album service plus the new albums from Bob Evans (EMI) and Paul Goddard (IND)
who are using our metro-tastemaker service.

Also appearing on Volume 25 are: Rosie Burgess, Dom Cooley, Travis Caudle, Paul
Goddard, Christina Crofts, Doug Sandrini, Lana De Angelis, Nick and Liesl and
Van Sereno.

The Sounds Like Cafe website is also updated for Volume 25:
www.soundslikecafe.com

For any further information regarding Sounds Like Cafe, feel free to drop me a
line on 02 9331 0666.

Bookings for Volume 26 (due early June) are now open!

CHRISTINA CROFTS - Australia's very own female blues-guitar wizard -
http://www.myspace.com/christinacrofts

.....described as Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Lucinda Williams with a healthy nod
to George Thorogood, Christina's current album 'Midnight Train' (CD Baby) has
been doing the rounds lately picking up strong reviews and airplay throughout
the country including the ABC Local Network, Satellite Music Australia,
Soundslikecafe and various community and regional stations.

Christina was recently a top 5 Musicoz nominee in the Blues category and
runner up in the Guitarfest guitar battle as well.

The new activity is all leading to the album's launch this April 18 at The
Lewisham Hotel and a string of other dates through May and June - see below.

   Some recent reviews;
Armed with a road weary, weather-beaten Strat, Christina Crofts kicks off her
debut solo album in feisty fashion, with some 'buzzsaw' style blues slide on the
title track 'Midnight Train". The energy level never wanes over a 37 minute
duration, in which Crofts offers up a fine spead of classic blues riffs and
licks. The songwriting may occasionally fall into cliche, however Crofts'
smokin' slide and character filled voca more than compensates. A seasoned
Sydney bluester, Crofts finally gets the chance to shine on her own a does
herself proud. Australian Musician Magazine

"There are very few women in the world let alone in Australia who have not
only taken up hard blues guitar, but play with as much verve, conviction and
sheer sassiness as any of the big name 'guitar heroes'. Here in Sydney Christina
Crofts has been carving it with the best of them".

   Michael Smith, Drum Media

"This is blues/rock of a high quality at its purest and wittiest. Christina
use the slide and sings with so much liveliness, conviction and satisfaction
that you must yield, however, to this " Sassy" lady! Lucinda Williams meets Rory
Gallagher down under".

Dear friends

Thanks to those who attended the Brackets & Jam night - we had a great
time and thanks so much to all those kind words of support from the
audience. You made it wonderful for us and we sincerely thank you for
that.

PLANNED BREAK FROM LIVE PERFORMANCE
Karmakult is now going into a chrysalis stage. Recording a new album,
with some line-up changes planned for the subsequent tour. We want to
assure fans that at the end of this cathartic process, Karmakult will
emerge bigger and better than it ever has been with a hot new lineup of
talent and an amazing arsenal of new songs and instrumentals that will
leave you gasping for more. The next album from Karmakult is already
simmering in the studio and planned for release later in 2009.

NEW SINGLE
Our single being released for ANZAC day is the crowd favourite "Rosemary".

"I wrote Rosemary after attending a Dawn Service with my dad a few
years back. They are always very emotional and touching services. I
was so inspired by the service and the imagery of the rosemary bush
that as soon as I got home I wrote it. I find my best writing comes
like that and I just call it channeling.... that's what it's like. I'm
very proud of our recorded version and James Overend's guitar solos
gave the song a very emotive edge" - Rendall Wagner.

The Art of Illusion
The second release from Karmakult and the transitional album that has
created the sound you now hear from the group.. Available in MP3 and
CD formats from CD Baby at the following link:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/rendall2

Aum
This is the collectable first album from Karmakult's humble
singer/songwriter "Rendall Wagner" - the album that started the whole
thing off. It is a rock album and contains the crowd favourites "No
Lies" and "Freedom of Mind". The songwriting and lyrics are there in
this debut album from the guy that has brought you Karmakult.
Although it's unmistakably a classic rock album, the name "Aum" and
the lyrical and musical content of songs such as "Freedom of Mind"
point to the future direction of the band, making the "Art of
Illusion" the natural progression and potential realised. Available
in MP3 and CD formats from CD Baby at the following link:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/rendall

Keep an ear out for us on the airwaves and keep checking the myspace
regularly for new demos from the new album.

Namaste

Daniel Dawes Launches New Album "Strange Things"

Sydney-based Brit-pop aficionado and former singer from The Winters, Daniel
Dawes is set to launch his debut album, "Strange Things".

Following a string of very well attended warm up shows throughout Sydney, the
official launch of "Strange Things" will occur at The Supper Club in Taylor's
Square on Wednesday March 25th.

"Strange Things" was recorded over a lengthy period after first being honed in
pre production with Marshall Cullen. The tracking was handled by Andrew Beck
(The Mentals, Tainted Toys, Modular Lounge) at Damien Gerards with mixing duties
completed by Russell Pilling (def wish caste, Radio Birdman, Paul Turner).

Quotes to date;

"It is music of substance and emotion, at once nostalgic and fresh" (Clem
Bastow, Inpress).

The Drum Media's Mark Neilson remarked that "There is a classic, layered pop
sound with a hint of emotion and wistfulness about it. Think Damon Albarn
(Blur) fronting the Beach Boys" (Drum Media).

Richard Kingsmill (Triple J) noted of Dawes' music that it has "a real '60s
English vibe about it. A little of Tim Rogers in the singer's style".

One of the feature tracks on the album, "High Place", recently received an
"Honourable Mention for Notable Songwriting Achievement" in the Songwars
Songwriting competition run by Steve Pinder from the Moody Blues.

Daniel Dawes' debut album "STRANGE THINGS" will be available in stores through
Foghorn Records/MGM FROM MARCH 16. A sneak preview is available on iTunes March
6

Media/retail launch March 25

The Supper Club, Taylor Square Oxford Street - with Sketching Cato and Tom Stone
and the Soldiers of Fortune
