Hi friends,
An issue we forget to discuss when we consider how to fight the climate
change is that we need to reduce our population. We are too many, and in a
few years it is estimated that there will be another 5 million people in
Australia. 5 millions that will contribute with more emissions. And what
about water for another 5 millions? Some researchers say that we should only
be about 2 billion people on earth to be able to live sustainably. So maybe
we should only be 10 million in Australia? We need to address this issue
seriously, but it seems like it is a "dangerous" subject, it is a human
right to choose how many kids you like to have, and now when we have a
problem with an ageing population the offical policy is to encourage people
to have more kids. And don't tell me that these kids will walk or use only
bicycles all their lifes, and don't tell me there will suddenly rain much
more further on.
I really miss a serious realistic debate about this issue.
