Subject: CLIMATE CHANGE SEMINAR

The CUB site is highlighting the challenges faced by large scale development.

We have been requested to circulate this Notice to locals who may be interested
in attending a seminar on Tuesday night at 6pm at Sydney Town Hall.

COME TO OUR FIRST CLIMATE CHANGE SEMINAR
The Carlton United Brewery site - what we learned from litigation.

When local resident Matthew Drake-Brockman, represented by the EDO, challenged
the Planning Minister Frank Sartor's approval of the Carlton United Brewery
(CUB) development under Part 3A it galvanised a community and put developers in
the spotlight.

The challenge was partly based on a failure to adequately apply principles of
ecologically sustainable development in light of climate change.

This seminar, hosted by Greens Cr. Chris Harris, will explore how we can tackle
climate change impacts in our cities with particular focus on the future of the
CUB site. It will also look at the CUB litigation, what worked and what didn't
and where we go to from here.

Speakers:
Dr. Mehreen Faruqi - Director, Institute of Environmental Studies, UNSW (Water)
Dr. Mark Diesendorf - Senior Lecturer Institute of Environmental Studies UNSW
(Energy)
Ms Kirsty Ruddock - Principal Solicitor, Environmental Defenders Office
Deputy Lord Mayor Greens Cr. Chris Harris
