Let's ensure they remain for future generations! Created by the designers of the Sydney Olympic Torch, The GetUp Climate Torch is an iconic symbol of our national determination to avert dangerous climate change. The torch itself features solar-power, a wind-turbine, people power, and a lemon battery! For six weeks during August and September, the GetUp Climate Torch Relay will tour right across Australia – through rural towns and capital cities in every state and territory – on its way to Parliament House, Canberra on September 21. Along the route, local communities are hosting legs of the relay, which calls on our leaders to halve Australia's greenhouse pollution by 2020. The Relay will reach Bundaberg on September 2nd where SustainaBundy has organised a leg of the relay. The event will feature members of the community, young and old, running the torch along Bargara's Esplanade via Mon Repos to Burnett Heads, as a celebration of Bundaberg's many beautiful beaches and precious turtle rookery. The Torch will continue its tour of Bundaberg riding Duffy's City Buses to visit local solutions hubs. For more information, contact Jacqui on 4196 0043 or go to www.climatetorch.com
