Dear Friends,

I am writing to you to report on the progress of Climate Justice Fast!- an
internationally-networked hunger strike for climate justice, in the lead-up
to COP15 in Copenhagen this December.

The last few months have been an incredible time for CJF. Independent
activists across five continents have committed themselves to joining the
hunger strike.

This November, these activists will be joining together at this crucial
moment in history to call for climate justice, using the hunger strike as a
rarely-employed but powerful form of peaceful, non-violent protest.

We are from all walks of life, including students, teachers, NGO directors,
clergy and retirees. Yet we all share the common conviction that we simply
cannot sit by and watch while government inaction, industry lobbying, and
our own over-consumption and over-development drive the planet into an
irreversible catastrophe.

Business-as-usual is the road to a disaster, and we need to move quickly to
a new way of doing things. Similarly, at this crucial moment in history, as
activism and climate campaigning is escalating world over, we need to move
beyond activism-as-usual.

If you feel the same way, please join us, or support us in any way you can.
We are particularly seeking political advice and counsel, medical support,
media and campaigning support and organisational outreach.

We will push our own physical boundaries in an act that conveys our passion
and sense of urgency on the climate issue, beyond what we can express in
words. Each participant’s decision to fast is an individual choice –
starting on November 1st, and lasting for however long they are willing,
issuing a personal set of demands to their own choice of audience. The
community of people who commit to fasting will be connected to share their
philosophies, demands and to prepare together.

Les escribo para reportar los avances de la programación de la huelga de
hambre por la justicia al cambio climático –una protesta pacífica conectada
internacionalmente, camino a COP15 en Copenhague este Diciembre.

Los últimos meses han sido un tiempo increíble para CJF (Ayuno por la
Justicia al cambio climático- *Climate Justice Fast*). Activistas
independientes de alrededor de cinco continentes se han comprometido a

Este Noviembre, los activistas se unirán en un momento crucial en la

Ich schreibe euch um euch von den Fortschritten von „Climate Justice Fast!“,
einem internationalen Hungerstreik gegen globale Erwärmung, zu berichten, da
diesen Dezember der COP15 in Kopenhagen vor der Tür steht.

Die letzten Monate waren eine unglaubliche Zeit für CJF. Unabhängige
Aktivisten, verteilt über fünf Kontinente haben sich dazu entschlossen an
dem Hungerstreik teilzunehmen.

Diesen November versammeln sich diese Aktivisten um in einem
geschichtsträchtigem Ereignis, mit der wenig verbreiteten, dennoch mächtigen
Methode des friedlichen Protests, dem Hungerstreik gegen globale Erwärmung
zu demonstrieren.

Wir kommen aus den verschiedensten Bereichen des Lebens, unter anderem sind
Studenten, Lehrer, NGO directors und Rentner unter unseren Aktivisten.
Trotzdem teilen wir alle die Ansicht, dass wir nicht einfach still dasitzen
und zusehen können, während die Untätigkeit der Regierungen, der Einfluss
der Industrie und unser eigner Überverbrauch unseren Planeten auf eine
irreversible Katastrophe zusteuern lassen.

„Einfach so weiter zu machen“ führt unausweichlich zu einem Desaster und wir
müssen unser Denken und Handeln schnell umstellen. In diesem
geschichtsträchtigem Moment, in dem über die ganze Welt verteilt immer mehr
Aktionen und Kampagnen gegen Klimawandel ins Leben gerufen werden, müssen
wir mehr tun als nur „gewöhnliche Aktionen“.

Wenn Sie genauso denken treten Sie bitte bei, oder unterstützen Sie uns wo
Sie können. Wir suchen besonders nach politischen Ratgebern, medizinischer
Unterstützung, genauso wie Unterstützung durch Medien und
Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Hilfe bei der Organisation.

Wir werden unsere physischen Grenzen überschreiten um unsere Leidenschaft
und die Dringlichkeit dieses Problems auszudrücken, was viel weiter geht als
alles was man mit Worten ausdrücken könnte. Die Entscheidung zu fasten ist
die freie Entscheidung jedes einzelnen Teilnehmers - am 1.November geht es
los und dauert so lang wie jeder einzelne Durchhalten will und kann. Der
Gemeinschaft der Leute, die sich dazu entschließen zu fasten, helfen wir
sich in Verbindung zu setzen, um ihre Philosophien und Anregungen
auszutauschen und um sich gemeinsam vorzubereiten.
