Dili HHH is a social group of "Drinkers with a running problem". The club was founded on the 30th of April 2000 by Pete "PnS" Matthey and Andrew "Slops" Hislop who were with the RAAF Interfet contingent. Both being Hash runners from Australia, they decided that the world's newest nation needed a Hash and so Dili Hash was formed.
The club runs every Saturday at various locations around Dili starting at 4:30PM. Run numbers are usually around the 40 to 50 mark.
Each week a run and walk is set to cater for all fitness levels. Both take about an hour to complete and vary in length from 4km to 12 km. Due to the mountainous terrain, some of the runs are very physically challenging. On various occasions we organise a week-end away from Dili staying at orphanages etc, taking food and essential items that the children may need, such as rice, flour, noodles.
The hash pressed on through 2006 with numbers dwindling down to 5 during the tough times in May/June but resumed to normal run numbers by September.
