POLIO "NON-OUTBREAK"

AMONG THE AMISH

Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, DO

NewsWithViews.com

On October 14, the major media outlets shrieked a report of “the first outbreak of polio in the United States in 26 years,” occurring in an Amish community in central Minnesota. The specter of hundreds of children in braces and iron lung machines lining the halls of hospitals immediately danced through the air, and directly into the minds of parents who have chosen to not vaccinate their children.

More than a month later, phone calls and emails from concerned parents continue to pour in. The fears surrounding this “outbreak” need to be put to rest.

First of all, there wasn’t an “outbreak of polio.” There was only the discovery of an inactivated polio virus in the stool of four children. The first confirmation was in a 7-month old Amish infant, presumably hospitalized, with severe immune deficiency. The “find” prompted screening of other children in the community; four children were confirmed positive. None experienced any type of paralysis.

Part of the panic can be blamed on inaccurate reporting. The virus that was identified was not “wild polio.” It was a virus that is found only in the oral polio vaccine (OPV). Oral vaccine-strain viruses are inactivated with formaldehyde and are generally considered by the CDC “too weak” to cause disease. Even though the OPV is still used extensively in Third World countries, it has not been used in the United States since 2000. How did children in an isolated Amish community, with no exposure to foreigners, become exposed to vaccine-strain polio virus? That remains a mystery.

The unasked question is why was finding this strain front-page news? My suspicion is that it was because it was an Amish child; a large number of the Amish choose to not vaccinate their children. A confirmation would serve a dual purpose: to make an ”example” of the Amish and scare parents into believing polio still being ”in circulation,” when in fact, it is not.

A review of polio is important to alleviating the fears about the disease. Keep in mind that the last case of “wild type” polio virus in U.S was in 1979; the last case the Western Hemisphere was in the Peru, in 1991.

Polioviruses are transient inhabitants of the gastrointestinal tract. Up to 95% of all polio infections are completely asymptomatic. Approximately 5% of polio infections consist of a minor, nonspecific illness consisting of an upper respiratory tract infection (sore throat and fever) and gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea). This influenza-like illness, clinically indistinguishable from the myriad of other viral illnesses, is characterized by complete recovery in less than a week with resultant life time immunity.

Less than 1% of all polio infections result in paralysis. Most importantly, the vast majority of individuals who contract paralytic poliomyelitis recover with complete—or near complete—return of muscle function. Any weakness that is still present 12 months after onset of paralysis is usually considered permanent.[1]

The take home message from the “Amish outbreak” is this:

1. Polio is not a synonym for paralysis.
2. The presence of vaccine-strain polio identified in the stool of 4 asymptomatic children is not a “polio outbreak.”
3. There have been no wild polio viruses identified in the Western hemisphere since 1991.
4. The WHO certified the Western hemisphere “polio free” in 1994.

For parents who choose not to vaccinate, assessing the risk of contracting polio, based on the facts of this so-called outbreak and the truth about the disease, needs to be put in perspective. Here are some things to think about:

  • In 1997 alone, 112 children died from falls.
  • In 1999, in Georgia alone, 53 children died in drowning accidents; 4 drowned at home in a bathtub.[2]

Would you stop bathing your children or prohibit swimming and playing due to these small risks?

What is the real risk of contracting polio? Certainly, it is zero from this Amish “outbreak.” The entire vaccine industry is based on fear. Learning the facts about polio will dissipate personal fears and so will putting the risks in perspective.

Remember him strutting across the aircraft carrier in his flight suit? Remember his “Mission Accomplished” speech? His new ‘guest worker’ program will leave America “dead on arrival” if he is allowed to continue this gargantuan fraud.

GUEST WORKER PROGRAM ILLUSION

By Frosty Wooldridge
December 2, 2005
NewsWithViews.com

President Bush finally made a limousine tour of our broken borders. His cosmetic stops at the border presented photo ops much like his Johnny-come-later stops in New Orleans. He didn’t see the millions of tons of trash, stay to watch the thousands of illegals crossing nightly, nor did he ask any American citizens about their horror stories.

Nevertheless, he did make a promising speech on what he was going to do. However, and this is a salient HOWEVER, he didn’t follow through with his speech on giving 10,000 more Border Patrol officers and he has not followed through with interior enforcement of our immigration laws to arrest employers of illegal aliens.

Instead, he presented yet more aspects of his guest worker amnesty program. Let’s not fool ourselves like Bush tries to fool us—it is an amnesty program. And, much like he didn’t consider or design an exit strategy from Iraq, he hasn’t projected any of the problems with this guest worker program.

Remember him strutting across the aircraft carrier in his flight suit? Remember his “Mission Accomplished” speech? That was two years ago and 2,000 dead American kids and another 15,000 maimed soldiers. His new ‘guest worker’ program will leave America “dead on arrival” if he is allowed to continue this gargantuan fraud.

Additionally, why give workers three to six year guest working cards when they are only here to pick lettuce, berries and apples? Why not a three month working visa and out the door at the end of the season? Since Bush refuses to think past his nose on this nightmare, let’s ask a few pertinent questions:

1, Will spouses and children be able to accompany the guest worker? Just minor children, or adult ones as well? Will they be allowed to work even more jobs Americans won’t do, which will double the jobs taken by guest workers?

Because if they do, we must build thousands of new schools, homes and infrastructure for these ‘seasonal’ fruit and berry pickers, and their families. This will mean millions of more people added to our already congested cities.

2, Will any or all of the above be able to demand government services in the language of their choice, per President Clinton's Executive Order 13166? Will the workers be required to have at least a minimal working knowledge of English?

At what point do we expect our country’s language, English, to be honored by foreigners? Why not rescind Clinton’s moronic Executive Order 13166 that has cost American taxpayers millions of dollars? What happens when there are more Spanish speakers in sections of our country and the bigger cities that we simply abandon them as foreign city-states within our country? Will we still be America or just another internally violent nation? Hint: Paris, France.

3, Will their children be eligible to attend school, and if so, at whose expense? In what language(s) will they be educated? What if their kids speak 50 different languages? Do we hire even more teachers from out of our country?

Give us a breakdown Mr. Bush on WHO will pay for these kids. Will the corporations making us the ‘low wage paying capitol of the world’ shell out money for guest workers’ kids’ education, medical, housing, transport and food?

4, How will health care services - including birth control - be provided and paid for?

To give you, Mr. Bush, an idea of what this guest worker program will cost, how about the 86 hospitals that have collapsed in California because of non-paying hordes of illegals? Who, sir, will pay for even more additional millions of guest workers using our medical services? Birth control will be critical when immigrant families historically prove to have large families that our environment can’t sustain. Will they all of a sudden become enlightened and use it?

5, Will any children born in the United States, automatically become US citizens?

You, Mr. Bush, have not stopped the ‘anchor baby’ invasion in the past five years at over 350,000 annually. What about these new ‘anchor babies’ and who will pay that cost? Will you subtract it from your retirement? Or will you be sending the bill to U.S. taxpayers as you have for the past five years?

6, Will the workers be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit? Will children remaining in the home country count as deductions when calculating the EITC benefit? How will the number of dependents claimed be verified?

Mr. Bush, you don’t have a clue do you?

7, Will IRS and Social Security charges be deducted from their wages? Will they be eligible for Social Security benefits, either here, or later in their home country? How many quarters of work will be required for eligibility? (Six years equals 24 quarters, less than the 40 quarters required for US citizens.)

How about it Mr. Bush, Mr. Rove or Mr. Cheney? Have you thought this one out? What about the fact that our Social Security program is already in deep trouble? Have you figured out an ‘exit strategy’ for these guest workers?

8, Will workers be permitted to marry? Will those who marry a US citizen, or have a child while here, be able to stay beyond the six-year period? Would a man who fathers an "illegitimate" child qualify for citizenship on petition by the child when it reaches legal majority?

What about the integrity of citizenship for Americans versus blatant disregard for citizenship based on the loss of the rule of law? How do you turn that Titanic around Mr. President?

9, How about Worker's Compensation and unemployment?

Sir, we’re talking 20 million illegal aliens working at slave wages that want medical and unemployment paid. But what happens when they demand a living wage?

10, If the job for which the worker came to the United States evaporates or otherwise disappears, will workers be required to take a different job, or return home? If relocation is required, who will pay the expense? Will they be eligible for unemployment? If so, who pays a premium?

Got an answer to that one Mr. Bush? We would love to hear it.

11, Will child labor laws apply, especially in the fields?

Since you’ll be rewarding millions of desperately poor Mexicans and other Third Worlders, how will you police their actions in the lettuce fields of despair?

12, Will the workers be able to purchase a car, and obtain a US drivers license? If so, will they be required to purchase automobile insurance, and will this be available to them at a cost they can likely afford?

Will we change all our road signs into Spanish? How about Arabic? How about Portuguese? How about German, Dutch, French and Norwegian?

13, Will children be eligible to attend college? If so, at what tuition rate: in-state or out of state?

Who pays for those kids in our colleges when migrants work for such pathetic wages? How many of our kids will lose college slots to students from other countries?

14, Will minimum wage laws apply? How about the Davis-Bacon Act?

Much like your ‘Mission Accomplished’ in Iraq, you’re about to create another debacle that will tip this country into violent internal conflict more than you quite understand or comprehend. Ask the French politicians about the recent riots in Paris!

15, Will the workers be free to unionize to demand improved wages and conditions?

When they demand living wages and unions, what are you going to do?

16, Will there be requirements for immunizations, and initial and periodic health clearances? On what schedule? Who pays?

Perhaps you might hire guys like Michael Brown formerly of FEMA to figure out that question? While we’re at it, we’d like your follow-up on that last questions?

17, Will workers come under any contract? If so, enforceable in what courts? Will public defenders be provided? At whose expense?
18, What system of identification documents will be required?
19, If conditions have not improved in the home country after six years, what are the chances that the guest workers will go home? Did the guest workers imported to Europe after World War II go home when they were no longer needed, or did they stay and send for their families to join them?
20, Will workers and their adult spouses be able to vote in local elections?
21, How will the workers (and families?) be housed and fed?
22, Will workers be permitted to travel home at will? Do they receive two weeks paid vacations?
23, Given these difficulties, won't most employers of the illegal aliens still prefer illegals?

Mr. Bush, taken as a whole, isn’t this a system of Indentured Servitude? Isn’t it a plan that will rip this country into two countries? Won’t it legalize a slave class? Won’t it erupt into violent confrontations much like Paris, France? Isn’t it a recipe for disaster much like the captain who guided the Titanic? Would you walk barefoot on broken glass? Or, do you want American citizens to walk on broken glass for you? Mr. Bush, you’re SO far removed from what is happening to America that your ‘guest worker’ illusion reflects your leadership skills.

Why not once and for all stand up for America, for our Constitution, for our language, for our way of life, for what it means to be an American? Is that too much to ask? After all, you swore on a Bible to serve our United States Constitution, not Mexico’s.

One of the excuses for the audacious claim to amending the Constitution by judicial fiat is reference to foreign law and international morality.

THE IMPERIAL JUDICIARY

By Larry Pratt

December 3, 2005
NewsWithViews.com

Does the Constitution provide for judicial supremacy through the process of judicial review? Attorney Edwin Vieira, J.D. answers with an emphatic “No!” in his book Imperial Judiciary.

Vieira makes a convincing argument that the Supreme Court (and other courts as well) have pulled off the equivalent of a coup d’etat. They believe, and too many Americans believe with them, that an opinion of the Supreme Court is a part of the Constitution. If the opinion contradicts the Constitution, then the Constitution, according to this view, has been amended. Overlooked is the simple fact that an unconstitutional decision of the Supreme Court is not worthy of respect and should be ignored by all other officials who have taken the same oath of office taken by the judges.

If there are competing interpretations of the Constitution among officials in different branches of government, “We the People” are to decide the issue at the ballot box.

Consider that the Supreme Court has the authority to make decisions only in those areas We the People have delegated. A look at Article III of the Constitution does not reveal a heavy work load for the Supremes: the court has original jurisdiction in cases involving states as well as diplomats. All other cases are brought on appeals, and if the lower courts are eliminated by Congress which has that authority, that ends the discussion.

The Congress does not need to send a constitutional amendment to the states when the Court makes an unconstitutional decision. There is nothing to amend, just correct by legislation (or impeachment) removing jurisdiction.

No jurisdiction, no cases, no bad decisions. What is stopping that from happening? The Congress. They have not used the power they have. Why? Well, two reasons. One is that “We the People” have not demanded that the members of Congress act. A second reason is that until We the People act, the Congress enjoys passing the buck to the Supreme Court saying, “We have to do this because the Court said so.” This charade will continue until We the People make it happen.

If the Court can indeed amend the Constitution with a five-to-four majority, are we to believe that the Court can re-amend by the same vote of five judges on the court? You have to agree that, even though this is not in the Constitution, such power is more efficient than getting two-thirds of the Congress and three-fourths of the state legislatures to concur. The only problem seems to be that the Supremes are acting outside the law. No wonder they want us to believe in an evolving Constitution (as long as they are the agents of evolution).

One of the excuses for the audacious claim to amending the Constitution by judicial fiat is reference to foreign law and international morality. This, of course, can mean anything a judge wishes to say it means. Who is to interpret what foreign law? That of Cuba? France? Iran? Whose morality? Kofi Anan and the UN kleptocrats? Or perhaps the thugs ruling China? Yet the Supreme Court has used this fiction to attack the capital punishment laws of the states with absolutely no authority to rule in this area. Again, the Congress needs to strip the ability to bring such cases to the lower courts (if not eliminating those courts altogether!).

If foreign law can be used to legalize sexual behavior that has been illegal in the states and progressively eliminate capital punishment, it is only a matter of time until the Court decides that:

  • euthanasia is legal (after all, the Dutch think it’s great),
  • search and seizure protections are replaced by the greater interests of the state to invade our privacy (works for the Chinese Communists),
  • political dissent is stifled (Castro tolerates none of that), and
  • firearms ownership is reserved for those working for the government or who belong to select hunting clubs (just like England and most other countries of the world).

Second Amendment supporters should be aware that the 1997 Brady Law decision by the Supreme Court (Printz v. U.S.) includes a minority opinion by Justice Stephen Breyer. He argued that the Court should have decided the case by looking at the comparative experiences of other countries. In other words, the thought that foreign law could trump the Second Amendment is already being polished by the foreign-law loving members of the Court.

Vieira puts gun control in an interesting perspective by comparing the notion that “gun control” is permitted by the Second Amendment the same way as “occupational control” is permitted by the Thirteenth Amendment which abolishes slavery.

I interviewed Edwin Vieira on my Live Fire radio show (archived at http://gunowners.org/radio.htm). His book, How to Dethrone the Imperial Judiciary, is available at www.newswithviews.com.

The first step of any philosophical moralist is to attack the agencies through which religion and Christianity are administered; the children, the family, and the inspired Word of God.

THE AGE OF PHILOSOPHICAL MORALITY

Heidi Cappadona
December 2, 2005
NewsWithViews.com

Mr. Thomas Paine, in his Age of Reason, said, “Let us devise means to establish schools of instruction, that we may banish the ignorance that the ancient regime of kings and priests has spread among the people. Let us propagate morality, unfettered by superstition.” At the time it was written, it was not well accepted on both sides of the Atlantic and Paine earned himself strong indignation from the citizens of the United States who’s government was founded on the very principles that he claimed were mere superstitions. Back then his ideas, widely viewed in the light of Christianity, were seen to be the folly that they are.

Today, philosophical morality is the main focus of our public schools as if Paine were again alive and well. Today many people believe schools without religion are protecting children from the confusing influence of religious controversies and the clashing doctrines of various sects allowing them to make up their own minds towards religion when they are mature enough to entertain such thoughts. These new educators believe religion is not necessary to morality; that benevolence may be insured by habit, and virtues may flourish if safely left to chance. However, what begins as protection for them, allows them to be lost in darkness tending to destruction and mischief.

The earliest and most urgent intellectual want of human nature is the knowledge of its origin, its duty, and its destiny. One of the first inquiries of the human mind is, “Will I always be here?” Reasoning with what one sees occurring to others all around, a child soon learns that what he is must change and before he knows his origin and his destiny, he learns he must someday die. Then comes that most urgent and solemn need for light, that question which proceeds from the human soul, “Shall we live again?” That most important question nothing but God and the religion of God can solve and without that answer, we are left in darkness devoid of light and hope.

In darkness, there is no need for morality because there is no consequence for actions other than punishment from men whose ideas of morality change like shifting sand. A child emerging from today’s schools will surely find the thought of religion one of folly and fairytales which are best left behind in childhood.

Morality without sentiment, benevolence towards man, without a sense of responsibility towards God, the duties of this life performed without any reference to a life which is to come; this is the sentiment of the useful education of today. Children are taken into public schools at the tender age of six and kept until they reach maturity and can enter into society. Before they can read, they enter into a school without God; schools which throw the doors open wide to opposers and revilers of any form of Christianity and shut them tight only to its supporters. Today, the upholders of Christianity are never allowed to be heard within those walls while the voices of those who impugn Christianity may be heard raised high and loud until they shake the walls of the building. Is this an accident? We must remember, he who rejects the ordinary means of accomplishing an end means to defeat that end itself, or else he has no meaning. Philosophical morality is intended to replace our religious morality and destroy our foundation.

The first step of any philosophical moralist is to attack the agencies through which religion and Christianity are administered; the children, the family, and the inspired Word of God. It is widely known that there are certain great religious truths which are admitted and believed by all religions. All believe in the existence of a God, the immortality of the soul, and the responsibility in another world for the conduct in this one. Up until about 100 years ago, most also believed in the divine authority of the Word of God. These simple truths are the foundation of mans’ responsibility for his behavior toward others and is the basis for all civil societies.

This idea that there are too many conflicting doctrines and beliefs is not a new concept. At the meeting of the first Congress there was a doubt in the minds of many of the men whether to open the meeting in prayer with the reason being that there was a great diversity of opinion and religious belief. Mr. Samuel Adams rose and said that it did not become men, who had come together for solemn deliberation in the hour of their extremity, to say that there was so wide a difference in their religious belief, that they could not, as one man, bow the knee in prayer to the Almighty, whose advise and assistance they hoped to obtain.

What would become of society if we simply threw away responsibility for men’s behavior and tore away the foundation from which that responsibility flowed? We may as well put out the sun and light the world with a thousand candles. We have a body of laws in this country in relation to which differences of opinion are as innumerable as the stars and clashing opinions arise daily to a far greater extent than any in the religious world, yet the Constitution has upheld this government as its firm foundation for over two hundred years. The Constitution is upheld by a thousand or more years of the laws of nature which are common laws and the common laws are upheld by the Supreme laws of God. We hold life, liberty, and property in this country upon a system of oaths founded upon a religious belief of some sort.

That system that would strike at that foundation, destroys the safe possession of life, liberty, and property, and destroys all institutions of civil society. It is impossible to administer the laws in our country without taking into consideration the religion or scripture to which the defendant in error has scoffed at. To lay aside this firm foundation of God is to weaken the confidence in human veracity and true morality which is so essential to the purpose of society. Without it, there can be no question of property and no criminal could be brought to justice. While many things about religion are disputed or dark, most can plainly see its foundation, its main pillars of great truth. Only those who do not value Christianity in any form cavil about sects and clashing doctrines.

We are engaged in a war and have been for some time. Most of us aid the enemy by telling our children to be good for goodness sake but neglect to tell them to be good because God has commanded it and will require accountability. We are raising an enormous wave of future men and women who have no foundation and no accountability and sadly those children lucky enough to have Christian parents, generally hold in their hands a paraphrased word of God, one the world has convinced them is “easier to understand and in today’s English” but has within it no power of the authority of God because it is not “an original, handwritten by the apostles themselves.” When it comes time for these children to fight oppression and the evils of this world, they will be most helpless, having only man-centered morality as a foundation and no sword of truth for the battle.

The University of Kansas is establishing a new course, called, "Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationisms and Other Religious Mythologies.” Its purpose, according to an e-mail sent by Paul Mirecki, chair of the KU Department of Religious Studies, is to “slap” the “big fat face” of “fundies” by teaching it under the category of mythology.

One teacher in the religious studies department agreed with the course, stating, "[Christians] want their religion taught as fact,” and “That's simply something you can't do in a state university."

KU Provost David Shulenburger explained further, saying, "My understanding was that [Mirecki’s message] was a private e-mail communication that somehow was moved out of those channels and has become a public document.” In other words, the fact that the course was designed to mock Christians isn’t something we were supposed to know, so no one should be offended.

Bringing academia’s derision of Christianity to light is something that amuses me, because those who engage in it are rarely willing to tolerate dissent. Last time I wrote on the topic, one evolutionist called me a f***wit in a posting on his Website. Following an expletive-laden polemic, he declared that homeschoolers weren’t socialized and couldn’t handle the “real world,” where people had different opinions. Evidently, evolutionists believe that you’re only good at handling other people’s opinions if you can curse at them when they disagree with you.

Never mind that evolutionists, not creationists, are attempting to suppress the opinions of others using tax dollars. I’ve encountered the same phenomenon in my own college biology class; in order to reach the eight or so chapters concerning evolution, it was necessary to skip about half a dozen other chapters to reach them.

The teacher was proud to tell us that her graduate thesis argued for evolutionism being taught to the exclusion of creationism. When she asked if we had any idea why she took that position, the first reply was a dutiful reference to the separation of church and state.

Of course I mentioned that, legally, atheism is a religion – that fact has been reaffirmed in a number of court decisions, from lower courts to the Supreme Court. In Kaufman v. McCaughtry, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled earlier this year that those who don’t believe in a supreme being should still be considered religious. In United States v. Seeger, the Supreme Court ruled that disbelief in the existence of a God did not signify a lack of faith in anything whatsoever. The list could go on.

Sadly, she didn’t seem to be listening. Her reply, roughly, was, “Right, so that brings us to a second reason.” She proceeded to explain that learning about evolution would make us more open-minded. She told us that there was some compelling evidence in favor of it, and that if we were just open-minded, it could “really make you question your beliefs.”

Unfortunately, I didn’t have time for being open-minded, so I left early. That seems to describe most of her students, as more than half of the class we began with no longer attends the lectures. (“But don’t forget to take Biology II next semester, because no one’s signed up yet!”)

For one to become truly “open-minded,” one would think that it’d be necessary to understand more than one viewpoint. However, sanctimonious liberal professors have a propensity to believe that anyone who disagrees with them is stupid, and simply isn’t aware of the “right” opinion.

It’s reminiscent of Chairman Mao’s each-one-teach-one method of bringing literacy to China, for which he used the works of Darwin as his primary instruments of instruction. Indoctrination wasn’t particularly relevant to learning how to read, but the two objectives did happen to converge. The same is true of teaching evolution as science today. The moral is that evolutionists have never really cared how their beliefs were taught, so long as they weren’t taught as theories along with everyone else’s.

The problem with teaching evolution as a fact is that, when people are the self-professed descendents of apes, they begin to act accordingly. That’s why progressive liberals don’t see anything wrong with ridiculing their opposition, abusing their power, using vulgarities, and, when possible, paying themselves with your tax dollars.
