SQUALOR,
SUPERSTITIONS
AND FATALISTIC
SLOTH
By Frosty Wooldridge “You don’t know my people—the squalor, superstitions, the fatalistic sloth that they’ve wallowed in for generations. You don’t know what you’re in for if that fleet of brutes ever lands in your lap. Everything will change in this country of yours. They will swallow you up.” Jean Raspail, “Camp of the Saints” The author served notice to his beloved France 30 years ago with that incisive novel. The French didn’t listen. The United States isn’t listening, either! After the past dozen terror attacks around the world such as 9/11, Madrid train bombings, London bombings, nightclub bombings and Theo Van Gogh stabbed in the streets of Amsterdam--last month, Paris, France burned. Their ‘fatalistic sloth’ rose up with Molotov cocktails that torched over 5,000 cars. America’s own suicide stands SO self-evident through Raspail’s words when he talks about Europe proceeding toward its own peril when it allowed the rate of immigration to exceed the rate of assimilation. They swallowed the deadliest scorpion in the Middle Eastern desert by inviting a stone-age culture and religion into their advanced European culture. Raspail said the immigrants were, “righteous in their loathing of anything and everything that smacked of present-day Western society, and boundless in their love of whatever might destroy it.” His tale speaks of a million Third Worlders from India bound for Europe to save themselves from what they created in their own nation—utter misery and failure of their society. Failed societies lack law, morals, sustainability and civilized behavior. Raspail described the ragtag immigrant convoy, “Everywhere, rivers of sperm. Streaming over bodies, oozing between breasts, and buttocks, and thighs, and lips, and fingers … a welter of dung and debauchery.” Does anyone catch the parallel with present day Mexico and Central America? Can you glimpse Vicente Fox’s failed government and wretchedly miserable society procreating endless millions tramping across America’s borders in a desert armada exceeding Raspail’s novel? How about Africa and Asia’s starving millions? According to March 14, 2005 Time Magazine, eight million people starve to death worldwide annually. In a sobering rendition of Raspail’s novel, an immigrant horde pours into American from Mexico. To be exact, America suffers over 10 million illegal alien Mexicans thus far with more streaming over the sides of the USS United States. In the past century, Mexico increased from 50 million to 104 million. It’s expected to hit 200 million in this century. Does anyone understand that Mexico cannot care for its 104 million today? In his novel, Raspail said the French had given up their souls to multiculturalism and the façade that it ‘might’ work. Instead, he said the French had become nothing more than millions of sheep. If you look at the parallels, Americans have been duped into multiculturalism’s living nightmare now manifesting in Holland, Britain, Belgium, Norway, Spain, Italy and Germany. “Man never has really loved humanity all of a piece,” he wrote. It’s inherent that we like some more than others—and some not at all.” Most in the U.S. realize what is happening in Los Angeles, Miami, Detroit, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago and most other enclaves of this 21st century illegal horde. However, Bush ignores it, disdains action and lets go the dogs of war in other countries while our own country suffers invasion. The fact remains that nations survive only if they unite around common emblems of nationhood. We’re giving our nation away today to legal and illegal immigrants whose governments and societies failed them. They arrive in massive armadas to sink our society. Raspail gut wrenchingly tosses a dart-in-the-center with his depiction of the systemic guilt-tripping that has afflicted America. We’re embarrassed into celebrating horribly incompatible ‘diversity’ and unworkable ‘multiculturalism’ being knifed down our throats while we either gag or die in our own quiet futility. Who takes advantage of our pathetically unguarded borders? Vicente Fox’s daily demographic invasion recaptures much of America for Mexico. While we battle in Iraq, Middle Eastern immigrants grab significant chunks of Detroit and other cities where they build mosques at breakneck speed. The irony of America’s demise stems from our inability to stand for our own beloved country, much like France. We watch Paris, France become Los Angeles, California—within a matter of months or years—yet most citizens won’t move a finger as their country heads into the Raspail’s social toilet. From this journalist’s viewpoint having seen it in my travels in Asia and elsewhere in the Third World, it’s sickening to watch as it advances into our country at our government’s behest and our citizens’ disinterest. Why? We’re a nation of immigrants and most of us, like the French, think these massive hordes will finally come to their senses and ‘become Americans’. One look at our cities illustrates that they “ain’t becoming Americans.” Push ‘1’ for Spanish and ‘2’ for English and ‘3’ for Arabic…. France suffers unemployed Muslim youths with no citizenship in their home country, and no loyalty to their new digs, but America suffers 20 million illegal aliens from God knows where. It’s not ‘if’ our street riots will begin, but when. With massive population onslaught from overloaded locations in Africa and Asia, France, as well as Europe, represents moribund countries as the gates of their borders suffer an endless invasion of out-of-control fecund societies. Becoming frightened, Australia, last week, arrested a dozen Muslim-Australian citizen men involved in a terror-bombing conspiracy. They told a group of Muslim clerics if they wanted Sharia Law, they needed to “move back from where they came…we intend to keep democratic law in Australia.” The clerics quieted down but nodded knowing that their numbers will increase given enough time so they will prevail to force Sharia Law on their host country. Will America escape this massive horde in Raspail’s novel? It’s possible if we call for an immigration moratorium. It’s possible when we force those overloaded and failed nations to deal with their own masses. It’s possible if all Americans step up to be heard at the local, state and national level. It’s possible if every state develops another D.A. King, Terry Anderson, Roy Beck, T.J. Bonner, Ray Haynes, William Gheen, Dr. Bill Herron, Jan Herron, Terry Graham, Chris Simcox, Bob Copely, Mike McGarry, Barbara Coe, Governor Richard Lamm, Peter Gadiel, Andy Ramirez, Barbara March, Bonnie Eggle, Dr. Madeleine Cosman, Glenn Spencer, Garrett Chamberlain, Buddy Bishop, Rob Luton, Tim Bueler, Ezola Foster, Brenda Walker, Don Collins, Peter Brimelow, Dan Stein, Dr. John Tanton, John Rohe, Jim Gilchrist, Lupe Moreno, Angie Morfin, Luca Zanna, Robert Vasquez, and Tom Tancredo. Patriots and statesmen will stand up for their country. Politicians pitiably will not. It’s possible if the pundits and radio talk show hosts become the “21st Century Paul Reveres.” They need to write more and talk faster. They must create a ‘consciousness shift’ that creates ‘counter critical mass’ that forces our national leaders to change our Titanic-like course. Will Mexico or any of the rest of the Third World such as China, India, Africa, the Middle East and Bangladesh all of a sudden develop stable, sustainable societies? Not a chance! They drown in hurricane accelerating Katrina human numbers increasing so fast—they can’t solve their problems. Their citizens flee to First World countries by any means possible. Will unending millions be able to keep coming to the United States for a “better life”? Will our society survive their onslaught? The grinding reality is: NO! What’s to stop them? Our presidents, except Eisenhower in 1954, succumb to the dollar or their own faltering characters. For a chilling treatise on the fall of once vibrant civilizations, I leave you with the sobering research by Pulitzer Prize winner Jared Diamond’s latest book, “COLLAPSE.” Come on America! You can change the future by your actions today. If we don’t stop them—do we give up this nation as easily as France and most of Europe? Like cattle to the slaughter house, do we offer our country onto the butchering block of national suicide? If we do, your phone choices in the future will be: Press ‘1’ for English; ‘2’ for Spanish; ‘3’ for Swahili, ‘4’ for Arabic, ‘5’ for Hmong, ‘6’ for Chinese or others crashing across our borders. JUDGE IN BENSON
CASE IGNORES
SEVENTH CIRCUIT
RULING
By: Devvy December 5, 2005 NewsWithViews.com "To consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions [is] a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy. Our judges are as honest as other men and not more so. They have with others the same passions for party, for power, and the privilege of their corps. Their maxim is boni judicis est ampliare jurisdictionem [good justice is broad jurisdiction], and their power the more dangerous as they are in office for life and not responsible, as the other functionaries are, to the elective control. The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal, knowing that to whatever hands confided, with the corruptions of time and party, its members would become despots. It has more wisely made all the departments co-equal and co-sovereign within themselves." --Thomas Jefferson to William C. Jarvis, 1820. ME 15:277 In my column this past September, I reported on the effort by the feds to silence Bill Benson and continue persecuting this man because he holds a truth so dangerous to the banking cartel, they will go to any length to shut him up. If you are unfamiliar with this case, please click here for background. Why do I refer to this IRS persecution as a threat to the banking cartel? In 1913, a thoroughly corrupted and largely ignorant Congress passed the unconstitutional Federal Reserve Act. Charles A Lindberg, Sr., (elected to Congress 1909-1916.) said at the time: "This Act establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President signs this Act the invisible government by the Money Powers, proven to exist by the Money Trust Investigations, will be legalized. The new law will create inflation whenever the trusts want inflation. From now on depressions will be scientifically created." In order to have a feeding artery to supply these blood suckers, the Sixteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was declared ratified even though it clearly was not. We know that not a penny of your money stolen under a law that doesn't exist funds a single function of the federal government - it all goes to pay down the congressionally created national debt, "transfer payments" to the communist UN and a million other unconstitutional expenditures to foreign countries. Although the courts have ruled that the Sixteenth Amendment did not bestow any new taxing powers, the IRS still uses the Sixteenth Amendment to justify stealing the fruits of your labors. The non-ratified 16th Amendment says: The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration." Most Americans don't know that the income tax law of 1894 was declared unconstitutional on the grounds that it was a direct tax not apportioned according to state population. However, a very intelligent woman by the name of Vivien Kellems did and she fully understood the critical nexus between the requirement of apportionment: "Since a capitation means a tax of the same amount for every person, this provision makes doubly sure that all federal taxes must be at the same uniform rate for everybody. This limitation that direct taxes be levied by the Federal Government must be in proportion to a census and apportioned among the States in accordance with numbers, is the only provision in the Constitution that is stated twice ... "No capitation, or other direct tax shall be laid, unless in proportion to the Census of Enumeration hereinbefore directed to be taken." And in those two sentences our forefathers bound fast the hands of Congress and secured the liberty and freedom of the American people. How? By making it utterly impossible to levy an income tax ... "An income tax is certainly a direct tax, probably the most direct tax of all since it cannot be shifted but must be paid by the person receiving the income. By specifying that direct taxes must be levied in accordance with the number of people, not upon what they produced, as in the days of ancient Egypt, an income tax was simply out of the question. It cannot be levied upon a man, but must be levied upon what he receives ... "The supreme achievement of the combined brains of all those men were written into those two sentences and the freedom and liberty of the American people were secured in them. For in those two sentences the right of the free man to own something was made inviolate. This was his distinguishing mark, the only criterion of freedom in all the world, the right of the common man to retain for himself the fruit of his labor....... "But his power to levy direct taxes was limited by an ironbound restriction: that tax must be apportioned among the States in accordance with the population. Since all taxes were to be at a uniform rate, Congress simply could not penalize one section of the country, or one group of citizens for the unfair advantage of another ... "This was the most brilliant plan ever conceived for guaranteeing the freedom of a nation. It protected every person in his right to private property, rich and poor alike, and under this protection we built the richest, most powerful nation on earth. We achieved and maintained for the majority of our people a standard of living undreamed of before, the hope and the envy of the whole world." There are those in the tax movement who think the Sixteenth Amendment unimportant. For those who would like to read a brilliant compilation of research on this issue and taxation, I highly recommend: Constitutional Income: Do you have any? by Idaho State Representative Phil Hart. Many Americans also are unaware that at the same time Bill Benson investigated the Sixteenth Amendment, he also did the Seventeenth Amendment and discovered it was also never ratified. Why would the Secretary of the State in 1913 declare this amendment ratified when it wasn't? The fraudulent Sixteenth Amendment was critical because the schemers behind the scenes knew they would get the unconstitutional Federal Reserve Act of 1913 passed later in the year and they needed this amendment to siphon off the wealth of the American people to put into the pockets of their banking mentors. Third, the Seventeenth Amendment was critical because it stripped away the rights of the sovereign republics - the individual states of the Union, further corrupting our legal form of government: a constitutional republic - NOT a democracy. You can order Bill Benson's Proof the Seventeenth Amendment was Never Ratified which contains copies of all the documents obtained from state archives by calling 1.708.596.3142 (Central Time Zone). The fraud involving the Seventeenth Amendment is even more egregious than the Sixteenth and only a show down by the states will get this fraud corrected. This past July, Bill's legal team filed a brilliant brief (see here). In this filing, Bill's legal counsel Jeffrey Dickstein points out: "As previously discussed, the United States can not prevail as a matter of law unless it can prove Benson "made or caused to be made false or fraudulent statements concerning the tax benefits to be derived from the entity, plan or arrangement" and that "he knew or had reason to know the statements were false or fraudulent." This requires the United States to prove the Sixteenth Amendment was properly ratified, because if it were not properly ratified, Benson's statements would not be false or fraudulent, they would be true, and the United States' action would fail." I called this checkmate and it should have forced the federal boys and girls to realize their argument was not winnable. However, with the assistance of the judge, the morally bankrupt U.S. Attorneys are still trying to get the court to ignore the law and "kill Bill." In this latest brief you will read how the judge in this case simply decided to ignore the Seventh Circuit in favor of those whose paychecks drip with the blood of innocents. The latest filing, Benson's Memorandum of Law in Opposition to the United States Motion for Summary Judgment was filed on December 1, 2005 and can be read here. Dickstein has hit the nail right square on the head and once again reinforces how compromised federal judges are - especially involving income tax cases. In this brief, Jeff brings up "....Section 205 of the Revised Statutes, and the so called “enrolled bill rule..." While all of this can be very confusing for the layman, it is easy to understand once you are provided with the definitions and importance of certain statutes and legal phrases. I personally became familiar with Section 205 of the Revised Statutes when The Wallace Institute filed a lawsuit over the fraudulent ratification of the Sixteenth Amendment in the State of Oklahoma. It is vital that Americans understand what Jeff is saying and I encourage everyone to begin learning about this by clicking here. People ask me all the time why these judges continue to thumb their noses at the U.S. Constitution and why do these U.S. Attorneys who, by now know the truth, don't simply walk away and get a real job? Federal judges do it because they know they can and because they are arrogant. They know there is zero oversight regarding federal judges from the 100 cowards in the U.S. Senate. Contrary to what the media hacks and factually challenged politicians parrot, there is no guarantee of life time appointments for these federal judges. Dr. Edwin Vieira explains this quite succinctly in his book, How to Dethrone the Imperial Judiciary. As for U.S. Attorneys, it's called moral cowardice. When it comes to jobs vs the Constitution, the Constitution loses every every time and that's how the evil doers have the American people by the throat: paychecks and few care where it comes from anymore such is the desperation. As one middle aged man shouted into the TV cameras during the last pretend election between the one party candidates, Bush and Kerry: "This election isn't about Viet Nam or abortion, it's about jobs." The international banking cartel is the real power on this earth. They own and control governments, they buy and sell these whores who pass themselves off as politicians and they are not going to relinquish control via their central banks without a fight. The last big one was when the 1816 bank charter expired in 1836, President Andrew Jackson vetoed its renewal. He said the following: "The bank is trying to kill me - but I will kill it. If the American people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system there would be a revolution before morning." The American people supported Jackson: "The greatest party battle centered around the Second Bank of the United States, a private corporation but virtually a Government-sponsored monopoly. When Jackson appeared hostile toward it, the Bank threw its power against him. Clay and Webster, who had acted as attorneys for the Bank, led the fight for its recharter in Congress. "The bank," Jackson told Martin Van Buren, "is trying to kill me, but I will kill it!" Jackson, in vetoing the recharter bill, charged the Bank with undue economic privilege. His views won approval from the American electorate; in 1832 he polled more than 56 percent of the popular vote and almost five times as many electoral votes as Clay." No president or Congress - with the exception of a handful of Congressmen (Louis McFadden, Larry McDonald, Wright Patman and others) have dared defy the banking cartel since Andy Jackson. Make no mistake: this fight involving Bill Benson and the IRS is very important because the stakes are very, very high. While I have received a fair amount of negative e-mail regarding Bill's case and the odds, warriors do not lay down and simply give up because the fight is going to be bloody. There's big trouble coming in this country and anyone who denies what's right in front of their face is either in a state of denial or is simply so afraid of the truth, they will retreat into their comfort zones of false security and hope for the best. As the entrenched corruption in the federal, state and local governments becomes known to more and more Americans, the angrier people are becoming. As more and more Americans become victims of the system, more become activists and are willing to stand up and fight. No one said this was going to be easy. The outcome is yet to be decided and the ultimate battle is yet to be fought. © 2005 Devvy Kidd - All Rights Reserved

The purpose of the bill is "to protect children and their parents from being coerced into administering a controlled substance or a psychotropic drug in order to attend school."
MORE ABOUT THAT HORRIBLE FORCED VACCINE BILL WITH NO LIABILITY!
MENTAL HEALTH,
EDUCATION AND
SOCIAL CONTROL
By Dennis L. Cuddy, Ph.D. In previous Parts of this series, I have warned of the dangers of some psychiatric drugs used for "mental health." Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had been implementing a new plan requiring companies to conduct "long-term studies" of new drugs before allowing them on the market. By "long-term" was meant only up to 6 months. Unfortunately, toward the end of October 2005, a "panel of experts" recommended the FDA abandon this requirement as being too long. According to THE WASHINGTON POST article, "U.S. Alters Test Policy on Psychiatric Drugs" (October 26, 2005), among the reasons the panel gave was that "the policy would cause drug companies to scale back on developing new drugs because of the potential increase in expense and risk." In some seemingly good news, on November 16, 2005, the U.S. House of Representatives by a 407-12 vote passed the Child Medication Safety Act (CMSA, H.R.1790) sponsored by Rep. John Kline of Minnesota. The purpose of the bill is "to protect children and their parents from being coerced into administering a controlled substance or a psychotropic drug in order to attend school." In a November 15 speech, Rep. Kline noted that "in some instances, school personnel freely offer diagnoses for ADD and ADHD disorders and urge parents to obtain drug treatment for their child. Sometimes, officials even attempt to force parents into choosing between medicating their child and allowing that child to remain in the classroom. This is unconscionable. Parents should never be forced to medicate their child against their will and better judgment in order to ensure their child will receive educational services." The reason I said this is "seemingly" good news is that in the last session of Congress, the U.S. House passed the same bill by 425-1, but Sen. Ted Kennedy tied up the bill in the Senate. According to Jessica Vascellaro's column, "Kennedy ties up drug bill" (THE BOSTON GLOBE, July 2, 2004), Sheila Matthews of New Canaan, CT, "said that she has frequently contacted Kennedy's office about the bill and believes his appeal for research is a cover for his support for health and pharmaceutical groups. Since 1999, Kennedy has received $171,601 in campaign contributions from health professionals and $97,050 from the pharmaceutical and health-product industry, according to the Center for Responsive Politics." Therefore, it is not clear whether Sen. Kennedy will tie up H.R.1790 in the Senate this year as well. Today, many pediatricians are coercing parents into giving a large number of vaccines to their children. Some doctors have even reported parents for child abuse who do not agree to have their children vaccinated. In the last 20 years, the doses of vaccines given children in the first 5 years of their lives has doubled, with autism or neuro-developmental problems increasing as well. In 1970, autism effected only 4 in 10,000 American children. But today, the Centers for Disease Control reports that 1 in 166 children is autistic, and 1 in 6 is developmentally delayed. Is this just coincidental? Perhaps it's worth remembering here that former Planned Parenthood International medical director Dr. Richard Day on March 20, 1969, addressed the Pittsburgh Pediatric Society. According to Dr. Lawrence Dunegan in attendance, Dr. Day said concerning population control: "Everything is in place, and nobody can stop us now," and he related that hard-to-cure diseases were planned to be created, cures for nearly all cancers were being hidden, and euthanasia would be more accepted. Why is it that veterinarians are cutting back on the number of vaccines they give animals while children are being given more vaccines? Why in the 1970s was "mercury-free" eye contact solution promoted, but then a mercury-based preservative was put in children's vaccines? Like mercury, aluminum is also toxic, so why are they now advertising "aluminum-free" deodorant while still including aluminum in children's vaccines? And why do they give the Hepatitis B vaccine to newborn babies when there has been a 300% increase in Multiple Sclerosis among nurses who take the vaccine? After all, Hepatitis B is basically transmitted sexually and is prevalent in IV drug users, plus immunity from the vaccine lasts only 7 years. So why give it to infants? In a January 14, 2005, letter from the Government Accounting Office (GAO) to a Congressional Committee on Human Rights, the committee members were informed that the number of children diagnosed with autism served under the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) program has increased by more than 500% in the last decade. Despite the concern that autism may be linked to vaccines, the HARTFORD COURANT (October 27, 2005) reported that "Congress is considering a bill that would allow the government to order that vaccines be given to every U.S. citizen in a national emergency, even if a vaccine has previously harmed some people." The legislation which Congress is considering is The Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2005 (S.1873). According to Evelyn Pringle in "Pharma to Republicans---Time to Pay Up Again" (OPEDNEWS, November 23, 2005), "The bill establishes the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Agency (BARDA) as the single authority for the advanced research and development of drugs and vaccines, and grants the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services the sole authority to determine whether a drug maker violated drug safety laws. In addition, the Act specifically bars citizens from challenging the Secretary's rulings in court. BARDA will be exempt from the Freedom of Information Act and the Federal Advisory Committee Act to ensure that no evidence related to injuries caused by vaccines classified as 'countermeasures' will become public." Barbara Loe Fisher, president of The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) remarked: "This proposed legislation is an unconstitutional attempt by some in Congress to give a taxpayer-funded handout to pharmaceutical companies for drugs and vaccines the government can force all citizens to use while absolving everyone connected from any responsibility for injuries and deaths which occur." Fisher told United Press International: "It means that if an American is injured by an experimental flu or anthrax vaccine, he or she is mandated to take, that citizen will be banned from exercising the Constitutional right to a jury trial even if it is revealed that the vaccine maker engaged in criminal fraud and negligence in the manufacture of the vaccine." For more information on vaccines and government mandates, see the report "Profits, Not Science, Motivate Vaccine Mandates" by Kristine Severyn, Ph.D., director of the Vaccine Policy Institute. © 2005 Dennis Cuddy - All Rights Reserved Order Dennis Cuddy's new book "Cover-Up: Government Spin or Truth?"

BILL O’REILLY
AND THE DECLINE
OF CABLE NEWS
By Cliff Kincaid December 5, 2005 My favorite show on cable news has been cancelled. MSNBC’s Connected Coast-to-Coast political talk show with Monica Crowley and Ron Reagan has been disconnected. I was on the show several times, pleased with the fact that the hosts permitted guests enough time to complete their sentences. It provided a serious forum for the discussion of hard news. Crowley is a knowledgeable conservative who never gave any ground to her liberal co-host, the pleasant but usually smirking Ron Reagan. Rita Cosby’s Live & Direct program seems to represent the new direction of MSNBC. Her show was supposed to feature a story about a male brothel. That certainly got my attention, if only because it seemed to represent another new low in programming. No topic, no matter how sleazy, is out of bounds. On December 2, she was covering the issue of “postal porn.” Then she tackled the subject of “two people apparently having sex in the front of a window inside a dorm at the University of Pennsylvania.” No kidding. I was pleased, however, to discover that she was going to be doing some stories about World Wrestling Entertainment stars going to Afghanistan to entertain U.S. forces. So-called “professional” wrestling is fake but fun to watch. It will probably be a welcome break for our troops from the hunt for terrorists. Perhaps Cosby will return to the states with a new appreciation for the sacrifices being made in the war on terrorism and cover the issue on a regular basis. (Why not just give them each a taxpayer funded joint to smoke while they watch, and I realize that the women 'troops' who may be snuggled up to the married men troops while watching this might be offended by the sexism, and bored with the faked 'wrestling', may just have to get used to it.-"Cheyenne Cin"- P.S. THIS is duty to country and 'supporting our troops', while making sure NO BIBLES are to be found!) Cosby got her show in the 9 p.m. EST time slot when Tucker Carlson was booted to 11 p.m. He actually advertised his later time period as being more hospitable to those who were drunk. I tuned in once last week, only to discover that he was still wasting valuable airtime bantering with liberal lesbian Rachel Maddow. If MSNBC President Rick Kaplan wants to do a good conservative vs. liberal show, he ought to consider airing some solid, hard-hitting media criticism. The Fox News Watch program on Saturday nights has completely failed in that regard. Host Eric Burns opened one recent program by showing a fake People magazine with Burns on the cover as the sexiest man alive. He’s certainly not the most informed. I didn’t need to read any transcripts of the Chris Matthews MSNBC Hardball show to know what’s he’s been doing. It’s a safe bet he was hyping some Bush-related “scandal.” The former Democratic congressional staffer does what he does best—make Democrats into heroes and Republicans into villains. He may be predictable and boring, but at least he’s not wasting time on hopeless missing person cases. MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, a former Congressman and author of a book about corruption in Washington, D.C., could provide a counterweight to Matthews. But he’s still covering the Natalee Holloway case. Slowly but surely, he seems to be trying to move on to more serious matters. Over at Fox News Channel (FNC), Greta Van Susteren started running sycophantic interviews with Hillary and Bill Clinton, and Shepard Smith and Geraldo tried to act like self-righteous heroes during the hurricane disaster. And this is the conservative channel? Van Susteren, a refugee from CNN, led the stampede to cover the Holloway case. This was seen as a smart move on her part because her ratings shot up. At best, of course, we are only talking about a couple million people watching these cable shows. The concept of expanding an audience by covering real news is apparently out of fashion. The “War on Christmas” has been a major topic for FNC anchors John Gibson and Bill O’Reilly and it’s a legitimate issue. But liberals on the lookout for conservative hypocrisy charged that Fox News Christmas merchandise was being sold on the channel’s website as “Holiday” merchandise. O’Reilly had been highlighting those companies unwilling to highlight the Christ in Christmas. In response, an “O’Reilly Factor Holiday Ornament” was quickly transformed into an “O’Reilly Factor Christmas Ornament” in the Fox News online store. But the real issue is why anybody would put something like this on a Christmas tree anyway. Can you imagine having an ornament on your Christmas tree with the O’Reilly Factor logo on it? Do people actually buy these things? Or give them away as gifts? I don’t know which is worse—the ACLU’s War on Christmas, as noted by Gibson and O’Reilly, or making a commercial killing from the birth of Christ, as demonstrated in the Fox News Shop. One thing is certain: you won’t find O’Reilly targeting his own employer for a boycott. To make matters worse, FNC, which became the number one cable news channel because it appealed to political conservatives, aired a November program on global warming featuring liberal Democratic Party activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as a “special correspondent.” The airing of this one-sided show suggests that this network, too, has lost its sense of direction. But if you think this is bad, wait until you read our forthcoming AIM Report on how a Saudi Prince has increased his financial stake in News Corporation, the parent of Fox News. How do you think Bill O’Reilly will factor that? © 2005 Cliff Kincaid - All Rights Reserved |
