I saw a commercial about removing a wart or corn earlier, and of course decided that would be the next topic for here! Blood root contains skin-irritant compounds (chelerythrine and sanguinarine) plus proteolytic enzymes, substances that help dissolve proteins such as wart infected tissue. Warts are caused by a group of 3-5 different viruses that enter through broken skin. It is probably these proteolytic properties and possibly some anti viral properties which explain blood root's folk use as a wart remover. Blood root can also be used effectively to treat open sores, eczema, and other skin diseases.

Banana peel contains a substance that is highly effective at destroying warts and is recommended by dermatologists. Place a small amount of peel against the wart and hold it in place with adhesive tape. Change the peel daily as needed and continue for 2 weeks or until the wart is gone.
