A Darker Bioweapons Future

One of the top developments of 2005 is a kind of genetic engineering on steroids -- a new field called "synthetic biology" in which scientists are setting out to create new forms of life that have never existed before.
In "genetic engineering," natural genes from one species are inserted by force into a different species, hoping to transfer the properties or characteristics of one species into another. Trout can live in cold water, so maybe a trout gene blasted into a tomato will help tomatoes withstand cold weather. The limitation on this system is the characteristics that nature has built into the genes of species.
Now scientists have overcome that limitation. They are learning to develop entirely new species, new forms of life. Awareness of this new scientific specialty -- called "synthetic biology" -- began to appear in the press in 2005.
The construction of living things from raw chemicals was first demonstrated in 2002 when scientists created a polio virus from scratch. They found the polio virus genome on the internet, and within 2 years had created a virus from raw chemicals. The synthetic virus could reproduce and, when injected into mice, paralyzed them just as a natural polio virus would do. They said they chose the polio virus to demonstrate what a bioterrorist could accomplish.
"It is a little sobering to see that folks in the chemistry laboratory can basically create a virus from scratch," James LeDuc of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, said at the time.
A year later, in 2003 Craig Venter and colleagues at the Institute for Biological Energy Alternatives in Rockville, Md., took only 3 weeks to create a virus from scratch.
Later that same year the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) published a short paper called "The Darker Bioweapons Future," reporting the conclusions of a panel of life science experts convened by the National Academy of Sciences. The CIA paper said, in part, "The effects of some of these engineered biological agents could be worse than any disease known to man." And the CIA said, "The same science that may cure some of our worst diseases could be used to create the world's most frightening weapons." The CIA offered one example: "For example, one panelist cited the possibility of a stealth virus attack that could cripple a large portion of people in their forties with severe arthritis, concealing its hostile origin and leaving a country with massive health and economic problems."
Nature magazine -- England's most prestigious science journal -- said in 2004 that synthetic biology "carries potential dangers that could eclipse the concerns already raised about genetic engineering and nanotechnology."
Last month, the British journal New Scientist said in an editorial, "Let us hope that tomorrow's terrorists don't include people with PhDs in molecular genetics." The editorial went on to explain why the technology cannot regulated: "The underlying technology has already proliferated worldwide, and some gene-synthesis companies that are ostensibly based in the west are thought to manufacture their DNA in China and other countries in the far east where skilled labour is cheap."
The editorial was written in response to an investigation conducted by the editors of New Scientist. They wondered if they could special- order DNA over the internet and have it shipped to them by mail (which the Brits call "post," not mail). Their report is titled, "The bioweapon is in the post," and they concluded that it would be doable, and that commerce in such things would be difficult -- or impossible -- to control. "But with gene synthesis firms springing up all over the world, and the underlying technology becoming cheaper and more widely available, it is unclear whether regulations enacted in any one country will be enough."
"It's going to be virtually impossible to control," predicts David Magnus of the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics.
The New Scientist editorial ends by saying, "If there ever was a case for scientists around the world to engage in sensible self-regulation before a nightmare becomes reality, this is it."
Unfortunately, scientists are ill-equipped by their training to grapple with the ethical and moral dimensions of their work. Scientists have no equivalent of the Hippocratic Oath -- "First do no harm" -- that guides the behavior of physicians. The Hippocratic oath counsels restraint, humility, and caution. In science, on the other hand, wherever your curiosity takes you is the right place to go, even if it takes you into "a darker bioweapons future."
Small wonder that so many people have lost faith in science, scientific progress, and the promise of America. As the editors of Nature said in 2004, "Controversies over genetically engineered crops and embryo research are leading people to question how carefully scientists consider the possible consequences of their work before barreling ahead. This is no small concern for science, as it has already led to restrictions."
But of course it isn't just scientists who are responsible for speeding the deployment of ill-considered technologies onto the world market. The underlying engine for all this reckless behavior is an economic system that requires economic growth year after year.
Our society has grown dependent upon economic growth for achieving "liberty and justice for all." You say your slice of the pie is unacceptably small and you're having to sleep under a bridge? Don't worry -- economic growth will make the whole pie larger, so your tiny slice will grow too. Thus domestic tranquility, justice, fairness, and fulfilling the promise of America are all dependent upon economic growth. We don't have any other widely-approved way to distribute the benefits of the economy, except through economic growth. We have forgotten the alternative, which is sharing.
But decade after decade since World War II, economic growth rates have been stagnant or declining, not just in the U.S. but throughout the "developed" world.
Slow growth derives from at least two sources -- productive capacity exceeds consumer demand and we have a glut of capital, so it is getting harder to find good investments.
These two features of the modern economy force investors to constantly search for "the next big thing" -- in hopes of returning to historical rates of return on investment. As a consequence, corporations (which have limited liability, by law) engage in reckless behavior -- including behavior that may threaten the well being of everyone. They create new biotech crops and deploy them across the nation's agricultural landscape before thorough tests have been completed. They put nano particles into baby lotion before they have any idea whether the nano particles can penetrate a baby's skin, and before they have asked where those nano particle will go after they are thrown out with the bath water.
So now we have synthetic biology -- the "next big thing" -- genetic engineering on steroids -- the manufacture of living organisms unlike any that have appeared on earth before. Investors are lining up to support new firms that are willing to sell the building blocks of new forms of life to anyone who can come up with a few hundred thousand dollars. This may in fact produce the next big thing, but it may not be quite the thing investors are hoping for.
Until we devise a steady-state economy that does not require perpetual growth, investors will keep us on this awful "next big thing" merry- go-round, our quality of life continually threatened anew by the ill- considered products and unanticipated by-products of feral science.

I get e-mail from Bush supporters all the time accusing me of being a liberal and that I surely must have voted for John Kerry, whose political ideology is communism. My December 30, 2005, WND column brought roughly 50 e-mails calling me every name in the book, saying I don't know what I'm talking about regarding the unlawful invasion of Iraq, I must be a flaming liberal, I hate our military, and on and on and on. The theme is the same: if you don't support Bush's agenda, you're soft on terrorism, you hate our military, you’re a liberal and, you surely must have wanted Saddam Hussein to stay in power. If you don't support the agenda of the Democratic Party, you are a right wing whatever who wants old people starving in the streets, and you want to take away a woman's "right" to kill her unborn children.
Yep, I sure am a flaming liberal. I hate abortion. I have been writing about the dangers of the toxic sodomite deathstyle for a decade. I walked away from the Republican Party in '96. I kept listening to their BS after the phony “Republican revolution” when they took control of Congress in ’95. I finally came to the conclusion that their agenda was the same as the Democratic Party, they just package and sell the same lies under different rhetoric.
Since the Republicans took control of Congress, they have not eliminated one unconstitutional law or treaty – not one. They have not removed one federal judge destroying our rights. Not one. I have been chronicling the actions of both the Democratic and Republican parties for more than a decade. Those in denial will continue to call me names, but it will not change hard, documented facts.
I don't call Bush president because I didn't vote for him; I voted for Michael Peroutka of the Constitution Party. I have no respect for George Bush who continues to trash the Constitution and Bill of Rights – all in the name of the “war on terrorism.” President Teddy Roosevelt stated it well on May 7, 1918, when he said (in part): "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."
I believe in this republic and am deeply saddened that tens of millions of Americans are either willfully blind or simply care nothing for the sacrifices made by so many that gave us freedom. So many Americans are in denial, they willfully believe lies because they cannot and will not accept the documented truth about their party favorite, Democrat or Republican.
No writer can please everyone all the time. A difference of opinions and different ideas in the marketplace of public discussion is a good thing. I only ask people to do as I have done over the past 16 years: do the research, get the facts. I have read more treaties and pieces of legislation than most members of Congress. I have read more books, fully documented, than 99.9999% of the people who send me nasty, in denial e-mail.
The issue of Iraq isn't about being a Democrat, Republican or member of any political party. It's an American issue. Those not in denial, know Saddam Hussein was not a threat to these united States of America. He was a broken tin-pot dictator who had no intention of lobbing nukes at the U.S. Bush's unconstitutional invasion of Iraq has nothing to do with liberating the Iraqi people. Let me quote again Jeri Lynn Ball, author of The Great Communitarian Hoax, The Voices of America's Destruction, Master's of Seduction and Time Bomb:
"In Stalin's Russia, notes Mikahil Heller, enemies were blamed for everything; they were used to justify the invasion of Czechoslovakia (1968) and the invasion of Afghanistan in 1980. The Soviet Communists were thus able to manipulate Soviet citizens into supporting government hunts for "terrorists," "traitors," and spies, for "liberation wars" for humanity. Using Marxist-Leninist strategies, the Russian, Chinese and U.S. ruling elites have sought to frighten Americans and other populaces with the specter of ruthless mass terror. "The Russian and Communist Chinese have been arming and inciting "wars of national liberation" for years. On September 14, 2002, Bush, Jr., said, "...Saddam Hussein's regime has proven itself a grave and gathering danger...We must stand up for our security...The world community must do so, as well." Globlalist communitarians including America's leaders deliberately built up Saddam Hussein's regime, then sought to "liberate" Iraq.
"By waging the "battle of Iraq" and by preparing our future battles in the ongoing "war against terrorism," the globalist elites have been able to carry forward their chief goals. First, in Iraq, Americans once again were manipulated into fighting a "war of national liberation" and helping an "oppressed people." On April 5, 2003, Bush, Jr., said, "...liberation is coming. The people of Iraq have my pledge: Out fighting forces will press on until their oppressors are gone." Second, globalists have been able to implement their plans for the sovietization of the Iraqi society. On May 1, 2003, Bush, Jr., declared, "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended...And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country." On May 3, 2003, Bush, Jr., said, "Our coalition has much work to do in Iraq...We are helping to rebuild Iraq..." The Socialist/Communist coalition has justified its programs and policies on ideological grounds, holding that its aims are to liberate and improve man and society. Then it proceeds to instill Soviet communitarian ideology and community values into the masses."
This is what the war in Iraq is about:
"Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective – a new world order – can emerge ... Iraq itself controls some 10 percent of the world's proven oil reserves ... We cannot permit a resource so vital to be dominated by one so ruthless. And we won't ... At this very moment, they (our soldiers) serve together with Arabs, Europeans, Asians, and Africans in defense of principle and the dream of a new world order. That's why they sweat and toil in the sand and the heat and the sun." Bush (41), speech on Iraqi aggression in the Persian Gulf, Sept. 11, 1990
As for 9/11: Why do hundreds of family members who lost sons, brothers, fathers, husbands, sisters, cousins, wives – why do they not believe the government's version of 9/11? Are all these people wackos? Part of a “left” or “right” wing conspiracy?
There is far, far more to 9/11 and the justification of the illegal invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq than the average American can even imagine. As much as I know took me 18 months after 9/11 to get out of denial. There were too many unanswered questions and once I began the hard research, I got sick to my soul. While I have read every book out there on 9/11, in my humble opinion the only two books every American should read about 9/11 are Crossing the Rubicon by Michael Ruppert and The Terror Timeline by Paul Thompson.
I also strongly recommend you get the DVD of the McKinney briefing on 9/11 which includes wives and mothers whose husbands and sons died on that day. I watched this event on C-SPAN and, quite frankly, it was shocking and beyond disturbing. The families of those murdered have done the most extraordinary and exhaustive investigations into 9/11. What they have found is ugly, but it is the truth and all Americans should want the truth over comfortable lies.
Crossing the Rubicon has sold more than 100,000 copies, second only to the Kean cover up Commission Report on 9/11. Crossing the Rubicon is 564 pages, but has 900 foot notes to back up everything in the book. It is one of the most thoroughly researched books I have ever read and believe me, I didn't want to read it, but I had to in order to make sure in my own mind. I can only say that if people are not willing to look at ALL the information, documentation and data on any issue, how can they blast other Americans who have done the research and call them ugly names? If you won't take the time to read books like Crossing the Rubicon, which is an amazing and horrifying piece of research, how can you call your fellow Americans all kinds of nasty and unflattering names because they have looked at all sides of an issue? How can you make an informed decision on something as horrific as 9/11 and Iraq, if the only information/data you have is opinions from Kerry, Bush, Rush or Shawn? It's human nature to cling to a comfortable illusion, but it's also dividing Americans at a time when we should be a nation united.

What is happening right now isn't a matter of how much "butt" our troops can kick in Iraq. Our military are the finest and we support them 100%. However, a foreign policy based on lies puts our military in harm's way instead of having them home on U.S. soil as our first line of defense. It is not and never has been (until the US unconstitutionally joined the communist UN) the responsibility of our military to remove dictators around the world in any country or meddle in the squabbles of foreign countries. If this were the case, we would have already invaded communist China and Russia - the two biggest terrorist host countries on this globe.
Let me enlighten the American people about a few facts and please bear in mind: I do not belong to any group or organization, not moveon.org or any others. I do not give money or support to any of these groups or organizations. I seek only the truth and demand that my government come clean and operate within the constraints set forth in the U.S. Constitution.
How many Americans have any idea about the use of chemical weapons in Iraq? How many Americans have any idea what happened when our soldiers came back from Gulf War I? If you think the video of the commie Chinese skinning dogs and cats alive was bad, viewing a video of humans scorched by chemical weapons is enough to drive anyone to rivers of tears.
Here are a few statistics that Americans might find shocking, see Ruppert's site:
"Out of the 580,400 soldiers who served in GW1 (the first Gulf War), of them, 11,000 are now dead! By the year 2000, there were 325,000 on Permanent Medical Disability. This astounding number of ‘Disabled Vets’ means that a decade later, 56% of those soldiers who served have some form of permanent medical problems! The disability rate for the wars of the last century was 5 percent; it was higher, 10 percent, in Viet Nam.
“The VA Secretary (Principi) was aware of this fact as far back as [A. D.] 2000,” wrote Bernklau. “He, and the Bush administration have been hiding these facts, but now, thanks to Moret’s report, (it) ... is far too big to hide or to cover up!”
“Terry Jamison, Public Affairs Specialist, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Department of Veterans Affairs, at the VA Central Office, recently reported that ‘Gulf Era Veterans’ now on medical disability, since 1991, number 518,739 Veterans,” said Berklau.
“The long-term effects have revealed that DU (uranium oxide) is a virtual death sentence,” stated Berklau. “Marion Fulk, a nuclear physical chemist, who retired from the Lawrence Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab, and was also involved with the Manhattan Project, interprets the new and rapid malignancies in the soldiers (from the 2003 Iraq War) as ‘spectacular … and a matter of concern!’”
When asked if the main purpose of using DU was for “destroying things and killing people,” Fulk was more specific: “I would say it is the perfect weapon for killing lots of people!”

I have spent hours reading the material in this section on Ruppert's site. In Viet Nam the use of napalm left behind a scorched country and fried people - civilians as well as Viet Cong. Our soldiers came home and began dying slow deaths from Agent Orange and the effects of all these chemicals. I know many and correspond with them. Others I used to correspond with are now dead, including GI's who served in the first Gulf War. During Gulf War I, 300 tons of DU weaponry were used against Iraq. According to documented reports, U.S. forces have deployed more than 1,000 tons during the 2003 invasion alone.
More data on this crime against humanity can be found here. Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich, who I do not support in any way, did have a video available on his web site when he ran for president in 2004. This video in living color, unimaginable horror, captured the results of DU following the first Gulf War invasion. Cancer rates among the Iraqi people went up by 1400%. Photos of women and children burned; babies born with the most horrible birth defects, i.e. babies born with their intestines growing out of their bodies and a different head growing out of their head. An indisputable fact: DU destroys the soil for up to 400 years so an indigenous population cannot even grow food to feed hungry bellies. Other statistics show that since Gulf War I there has been a fivefold increase in cancer, especially leukemia and a five to eight fold increase in children born with genetic defects.
Quoting Jesuit Father Simon Harak who maintains close contact with the Manhattan Project, the only group that devotes itself exclusively to DU after visiting a Dr. Jenan Hassan in Basra: “Depleted uranium is 60 percent radioactive. It is also heavy metal toxic. It is a byproduct of the uranium enrichment process of nuclear weapons production from which uranium's most radioactive isotope, U235, is recovered for re-use in new fuel rods. The DU weapons used in Iraq were far more deadly, far more enduring—Japanese scientist Katsuma Yagasaki estimates that DU’s radiation has a half-life of 4.5 billion years—and far less publicized than car bombs and roadside bombs. The DU was present in missiles, tank shells, and rocket-propelled grenades. Formidable at armor piercing, these weapons were known to aerosolize on impact into tiny particles that could be inhaled or ingested."
I cannot find the words to describe the effects of DU and other chemical weapons used in Iraq on the indigenous population. Our soldiers coming home from this current invasion are already dying from the effects of DU. They won't be having a "Happy New Year!" There have been many intensely researched columns over the years by respected journalists giving all the facts and numbers of how many of our soldiers have suffered and died from "Gulf War Syndrome" and how many are now coming home and dying. I have read mainstream papers (Washington Post, Sept 2, 2003, citing the US military Central Command as their source) exposing very disturbing facts, i.e., since the launch of this undeclared war until the publication of that article, more than 4,500 US troops were evacuated for "medical reasons other than combat or non-combat injuries." I was at Walter Reed Medical Hospital in late 2003 and saw the carnage for myself.
I also strongly and respectly urge Americans to get the DVD Beyond Treason: The U.S. Government's Long History of Conducting Deadly Military Experiments. See what Dr. Doug Rokke, Director of the U.S. Army Depleted Uranium Project, Dennis Kyne, NBC Medical Specialist and Veteran's Advocate and Jeuren Moret, Geological Scientist and International Radiation Expert have to say about the use of DU in the Gulf. This isn't for the weak and timid, but it should be watched and shared among friends, colleagues, family and church members. We have got to get the truth about this out to as many Americans as possible.
Long after one of Bush's rah-rah, carefully crafted public appearances or press conferences, the effects of DU and other chemical weapons will still be killing our soldiers as they return home to a fact deficient population who waved their flags in favor of this war, but never see the real causalities.
In the next few years we will see the same thing as we did after Gulf War I: babies born to our soldiers deformed in the most God awful ways in sickening numbers while their fathers slowly waste away. There will be those who automatically knee jerk and cry this can't be so! God forgive us, it is. War isn't just hell, the lasting effects are well documented. If you view all the videos I have mentioned above, it's no wonder thousands of soldiers returning from Viet Nam went insane or have never been able to get those images out of their heads. War should always be the method of last resort. Anyone who has spent the time to research 9/11 and Bush's naked aggression against a non threatening country should be very, very afraid of what is coming in 2006. The truth about 9/11, which has birthed this entire "war on terror" is an American issue. Those who choose to stay in denial, who won't do one single minute of research if it disagrees with Bush, their favorite radio talk show host, cable network host or columnist, do so at their own risk. The rest of us weep for what has happened in the name of black gold, but we will not get down on our knees and submit to tyranny for an illusion of safety.

On October 6, 2005, more than 7000 sites across the U.S. took part in National Depression Screening Day, which was created in 1991 by Screening for Mental Health, Inc. More than 100,000 adults, primarily seniors, were screened for depression or related illnesses such as bipolar, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorders.
Why might senior adults have these disorders? Well, it could happen if the power elite changed civilization and the culture or society so that people could be more easily controlled and manipulated. In the U.S. on March 18, 2002, Dr. Henry Makow published "Gloria Steinem: How the CIA Used Feminism to Destabilize Society." Dr. Makow explained that "in the 1960s, the elite media invented second-wave feminism as part of the elite agenda to dismantle civilization and create a New World Order. I have discovered that before she became a feminist leader, Gloria Steinem worked for the CIA spying on Marxist students in Europe and disrupting their meetings. She became a media darling due to her CIA connections. Ms. magazine, which she edited for many years was indirectly funded by the CIA....In 1958, Steinem was recruited by CIA's Cord Meyer (Scroll & Key member at Yale University, first president of United World Federalists, and with the CIA from 1951 to 1977) to direct an 'informal group of activists' called the 'Independent Research Service.'...Steinem helped to provoke riots.
One of Steinem's CIA colleagues was Clay Felker. In the early 1960s, he became an editor at ESQUIRE and published articles by Steinem which established her as a leading voice for women's lib. In 1968, as publisher of NEW YORK magazine, he hired her as a contributing editor, and then editor of Ms. magazine in 1971....Ms. magazine's first publisher was Elizabeth Forsling Harris, a CIA-connected PR executive who planned John Kennedy's Dallas motorcade route....In the 1980s, Steinem dated Henry Kissinger.
Our main misconception about the CIA is that it serves U.S. interests. In fact, it has always been the instrument of a dynastic international banking and oil elite (Rothschild, Rockefeller, Morgan) coordinated by the Royal Institute for International Affairs in London and their U.S. branch, the Council on Foreign Relations....The agenda of this international cabal is to degrade the institutions and values of the United States in order to integrate it into a global state that it will direct through the United Nations....The CIA's 'Project Mockingbird' involved the direct infiltration of the corporate media, a process that often included direct takeover of major news outlets. It is designed to weaken the American social and cultural fabric in order to introduce a friendly fascist New World Order....In the 1950s, women were free to pursue careers if they wanted to. The difference was that their role as wife and mother was understood, and socially validated, as it should be. Until Gloria Steinem and the CIA came along."
In the 1960s and 1970s, the power elite via their feminist allies promoted sexual liberation. In 1973, John D. Rockefeller III authored THE SECOND AMERICAN REVOLUTION, applauding sexual liberation and the "humanistic revolution" while disparaging "old-fashioned nationalism." Public schools promoted humanistic values and "comprehensive sex education," which has resulted in more, not less, teen sexual activity with a corresponding rise in sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). On November 7, 2005, Barbara Simpson on WorldNetDaily authored "The search-&-destroy mission against children," reporting that on November 2, "a 3-judge panel of the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals...dismissed a suit brought by a group of Palmdale, CA, parents against their school district concerning a psychological survey the children were to complete which contained explicit sexual questions....The survey was given to children in the first, third and fifth grades, supposedly to help measure trauma.
The 79 questions asked about their thoughts, feelings and experiences concerning such things as suicide, anger and dreams. There also were 10 sexual questions asking children to rate their involvement in such activities as...'can't stop thinking about sex'." How many six-year-olds do you know who say they can't stop thinking about sex? Simpson included a statement from the court's ruling in this case, which was "We also hold that parents have no due process or privacy right to override the determinations of public schools as to the information to which their children will be exposed while enrolled as students." She further indicated that things like this have happened "in schools across the country...resulting in children becoming victims of what really is mental and social abuse."
Once the civilization and culture have been changed from their traditional moral values, the people are then more easily controlled and manipulated. Globally, this would entail promoting "shared values" while presenting religion in a negative way, so that we have a "common future." Relevant to this would be former President Clinton's mid-September 2005, three-day conference on the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). The goal of CGI, in its own words, is an "integrated global community of shared benefits, responsibilities, and values." And according to CGI, religion represents "a chief engine of deadly conflict." A little over a month later, on October 21, 2005, Mikhail Gorbachev and Bill Clinton both spoke at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Gorbachev remarked: "I believe that we need a kind of global compact about the principles of the New World Order....We should also start building a better global governance on the basis of international cooperation, international law....There is understanding in the world about the need to move toward a truly New World Order....Our future will be common, a common future or no future at all." Clinton followed this by stating: "I support the analysis of world events and the prescription for their solution that President Gorbachev outlined tonight. We live in an interdependent world....We can agree with any people of any faith as long as nobody claims to be in possession of the absolute truth...."
The basis for Gorbachev's and Clinton's "common future" could be the Earth Charter, written by Rockefeller Brothers Fund chairman Steven Rockefeller for Gorbachev and Maurice Strong (U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan's right-hand man). In an interview with the LOS ANGELES TIMES a few years ago, Gorbachev proclaimed: "My hope is that this charter will be a kind of Ten Commandments, a 'Sermon on the Mount,' that provides a guide for human behavior toward the environment in the next century and beyond." And Maurice Strong similarly stated elsewhere that "the real goal of the Earth Charter is that it will in fact become like the Ten Commandments." In 2002, the Earth Charter was placed in the Ark of Hope (designed like the Ark of the Covenant, see www.ark-of-hope.org/home.html_) and presented to the U.N. at a meeting in South Africa.
This was after the U.S. Conference of Mayors passed a resolution on June 25, 2001, stating that the conference "endorses the Earth Charter and commits the organization to the realization of its aim." Since one of the stated goals of the Earth Charter is "Promote the equitable distribution of wealth within nations and among nations," it appears that America's mayors have accepted Socialism for the U.S. and the world. More recently, on October 8, 2005, Earth Charter Community Summits have been held in cities across the U.S. And November 7-9, a meeting was held in Amsterdam, attended by Gorbachev, Strong and other notables, partly designed to see how Earth Charter principles could be integrated into international law.
Or, the basis for our "common future" could be OUR COMMON FUTURE, produced by The World Commission on Environment and Development in 1987. It proclaimed the need to "create greater willingness to share global resources equitably," and pronounced that "many governments must work on several fronts---to limit population growth." Or, our "common future" could be based upon the much broader document, OUR GLOBAL NEIGHBORHOOD (1995) by The Commission on Global Governance (partly funded by the U.N. Development Program and endorsed by then U.N.
Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali), which stated: "A new world order must be organized....Global governance is the way we manage global affairs....Nations have to accept that in certain fields, sovereignty has to be exercised collectively....We need to accept that there may be circumstances within countries when the security of people is so severely violated that external intervention becomes justified.
We propose that the U.N. Charter be amended to permit intervention in such circumstances....We believe that there is a need for a highly trained U.N. Volunteer (military) Force....Accelerated progress must be made toward demilitarizing the international society....We strongly endorse community initiatives to...encourage the disarming of civilians....The inadequacy and unreliability of present arrangements for financing the U.N. have led to proposals for a system to raise part of the resources for global governance through international taxes....Acceptance of the compulsory jurisdiction of the World Court should surely be a basic condition for membership in the United Nations....One way is to make international law enforceable in domestic courts....We are...in need of a mobilizing principle....That principle could well be global governance, a genuine internationalism, a new world order that secures the ascendancy of global neighborhood values over divisive nationalism."

As we start off the New Year, I’m heartened at the millions of readers that have answered writers’ calls to action concerning the greatest threat ever to our nation. Many times in the past 20 years, I felt like a dog barking into the wind in the middle of the night on some lonely island. This national legal and illegal immigration crisis, no matter how dire, seems to have eluded most Americans’ radar screens. They’ve been too busy with family, kids, schools and working.
We thought our presidents and Congress represented our best interests. As we now know, that isn’t the case! The past five or six presidents along with their Congresses duped us and undermined our country. Senator Teddy Kennedy, the biggest buffoon in the Senate, initiated the destruction of America with his 1965 Immigration Reform Act. It’s been downhill ever since. He’s turned the most successful society in the history of humanity into a growing national nightmare from which our civilization may not survive.
Finally, in the late 90s, a great statesman, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo began his lonely vigil with late night speaking in the House chambers. Few listened while Clinton carried on his peccadilloes and the current administration carries on a fabricated, but deadly war.
It’s fantastic as millions of readers connect the dots as to America’s fate. We must change that ‘destiny’ by our collective actions. What you’re about to read is from the pen of John Martin, an American citizen. By reading his words, you’ll connect more dots and then, share them with others. The important aspect of this two part series stems from a growing ‘counter critical mass’ of American citizens taking action on behalf of their country.

In recent months, mass immigration--both legal and illegal--has been one of America's most hotly debated topics. Almost everywhere people are growing more and more frightened about everything from job losses to chronic overcrowding and new pandemics of once-conquered diseases.
A few members of Congress are speaking out about illegal aliens and are offering "solutions"--from tightening up security at the border to the "Real ID" scam that was railroaded through the Senate on a 100-0 vote. As expected, Congress has not demonstrated any backbone on proposing any solutions that would really work--only programs that impose more on America's citizens than have any value on stemming the alien tsunami.
The first thing to look at is our historic immigration quotas. For decades, we enjoyed a limit of about 170,000 new immigrants per year. Not only that, but the majority of these come from Western Europe--people whose cultures were most compatible with our own.
But the Immigration Reform Act of 1965, sponsored by the notorious duo, Lyndon Johnson and Ted Kennedy, turned our responsible immigration policy upside down. First the numbers went way up. Worse still, quotas were imposed to limit European immigrants while much more liberal allowances were granted to poor, third world countries. Today, 2.3 million immigrants come in (1.3 million legal and 1.0 million illegal)--the vast majority of them from poor countries and with cultures that are contrary to those of most Americans. (Time Magazine states that 3.0 million illegals gain entry annually.)
This incompatibility has built up resentment from many people as they see their neighborhoods and lifestyles overwhelmed by impoverished, overcrowded, noisy, crime-prone masses. Here are a few facts:
* Each year, the world's population jumps by 80 million. * America's population surges 3.3 million per year--almost all from third-world immigrants and their offspring. * By 2050, if current trends continue, America's population will approach HALF A BILLION. * California alone adds 600,000 annually. * By 2030, California will be saddled with 55 million crowded people. * An endless line is always waiting to enter America. Since the 1965 Immigration Reform Act, over 60 million have come here. And there are always more waiting with no end in sight. * The number of foreign-born in America has tripled since 1970. * The average Mexican immigrant in his lifetime consumes $55,200 more in services than he pays in taxes. * Legal and illegal immigrants sent $56 billion of our dollars abroad last year (2004)--$15 billion to Mexico, $25 billion to South America, and $16 billion to Asia. The drug cartels took another $100 billion. * Unlike America, Mexico has immigration laws that are very strict. It is pro-sovereignty and anti-bilingual. Illegals are quickly deported and receive no benefits.
The greatest causes for concern, of course, are Mexico and Latin America. These are by far our primary producers of excessive humanity. Various sources estimate that anywhere from 1.5 to two million aliens now come across the Mexican border every year. And just since 1975, counting their offspring, some 50 million are already here.
Numerous states, especially California, are suffering from urban sprawl, gridlock, escalating home prices, crime, and massive drains on social services. Many third-world newcomers don't understand American civilization or even speak English. Some carry virulent, drug-resistant strains of tuberculosis, leprosy, polio, AIDS, and other deadly diseases. Some have religious convictions that most Americans would consider abhorrent--the "duty" of revenge, for example.
Many have grown up in criminal environments where street gangs, theft, vandalism, looting, violence, bribery, and other anti-social behavior are the accepted norm. For example, living and traveling in Mexico City today is dangerous and terrifying. People--especially foreigners--are subject to assaults, car-jackings, robbery--even rape, murder, and kidnapping. There were 1200 kidnappings in 2003 alone. Policemen won't help. Many are on the take--they make their livings that way. (This is known as Third World Momentum.)
And they are importing new forms of crime over here. A 60 Minutes TV program recently illustrated how a group of Hispanics (mostly women) cleaned out an Old Navy outlet. They pretended to be customers, but instead they were repeatedly going in, stuffing large, foil-lined bags with high value clothing, and taking it out to their truck outside. Meanwhile, accomplices used their bodies and clothing to shield the thieves from the security cameras. In one day, they had lifted thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. (This was noted in my December 30, 2005 column.)
A devastating and unfortunate societal process is that populations in the poorest nations and continents continue to have more children than they can properly feed, cloth and educate. As their populations are already destitute and overcrowded, such a path only leads to more misery. For Latin Americans, it is due partly to their Roman Catholic religion. But unlike non-Hispanic North American Roman Catholics--most of whom practice some reasonable family planning--the Latinos from farther south opt for large families--the bigger the better. As a result, Mexico is expected to double its population--already bursting at 100 million--in the next 50 years.
The late Frank Mayo observed that the greatest ambition of a typical Mexican peasant woman was to have as many children as she could. What an ambition--to perpetuate and exacerbate her family's grinding poverty!
Pope John Paul II may have aggravated this mindset. During his numerous visits to Latin America for more than 20 years, he had repeatedly condemned all forms of birth control--the one and only solution that can lift these desperate nations out of their poverty. We can only hope the current Pope will, instead, vigorously promote some common sense family planning.
Today, while other parts of the world have begun to restrain their population growth, chronically overpopulated Latin America, Africa, and parts of Asia are still multiplying exponentially. Poor families who cannot adequately support even one child frequently pop out 10 or 15, condemning each succeeding generation deeper into poverty.
Exporting this problem is futile. Even at current emigration rates, their population growth far exceeds the millions that cross into the United States. These third world countries have but two choices--one rational and one fatal: Either immediately adopt strict birth control methods, or let nature take care of the population with pandemics and wars.
Although mass emigration does them little good, mass immigration of this feral humanity into the United States is a guaranteed catastrophe. It will destroy us just as surely as a cancer destroys its victim. If the current immigration trend continues, America's population will double from 2005 to 2065. We are already far beyond our optimum population and are approaching our maximum sustainable limit right now. If it becomes much bigger, our life quality will plummet down to third world levels. Much of America will resemble Mexico City with its miles of hillsides crammed with shacks and homeless people as far as the eye can see. This runaway loss of our lebensraum will eradicate our hope to retain any form of civilized society.
Writer Frosty Wooldridge (www.frostywooldridge.com) said, "Immigration is the most formidable weapon of mass destruction threatening America today."
And to add insult to injury, the American taxpayers are being forced to finance their own destruction. Aliens, both legal and illegal, as well as others who have been given citizenship, are consuming vast amounts of welfare, child support, food stamps, EBT cards, and other public goods and services. They are sending their multitudes of children to the public schools, and they are overwhelming and bankrupting numerous local hospitals.
According to Dr. Madeleine Cosman, "At least 300,000 to 350,000 "anchor babies" (babies born in this country to illegal aliens) annually become citizens in California." Stockton taxpayers shelled out $215 million for the births of 74,987 in 1994. The San Joaquin General Maternity Ward gave birth to another 2300 in 2003--70 percent from illegals. When they grow to school age, they each cost $7000 above and beyond what their parents pay in taxes. Today, California is $38 billion in debt.
The danger signs are obvious. Once considered a great place to live as recently as 1980, people are now calling it "Mexifornia." By 1998, nearly half of the children born there were Latin American. The latest statistics show that over a third of its population is Latino--mostly Mexican--the fastest growing ethnic group in the U.S. By the year 2028, it is expected to be over half. As a result, social services are being strained far beyond their limits while taxes to finance them are being pushed to intolerable levels.
Neighborhoods in California are being consumed. Hispanic street gangs are proliferating. Drug crimes are rampant. Shoplifting, burglaries, looting, fornication, vandalism, rape, and murder by Hispanics are all on the rise.
Mexicans are buying up large numbers of homes, even homes in nice neighborhoods. As many as 30 or more Mexicans pool their money, buy or rent a house, and all of them live in it together--like packed sardines. They repeatedly invite dozens of their friends and extended family relatives to their huge, noisy parties. Their cars occupy every single on-street parking space.
The alien plague is not limited to the west. "Anchor babies" born in Georgia cost $13 million for 5,133 in 2000, $23 million for 9,528 in 2001, and $27 million for 11,188 in 2002. The health care for just these 25,849 cost the state taxpayers $42 million every year. And in 2002, their illegal parents ran up another $63 million for 64,000 doctor visits. In Cobb County, the Hispanic population has skyrocketed in just over a decade. In 2003, they numbered 60,445--one tenth of the county's population--up more than six times from the 9403 in 1990. Complaints of housing violations and noisy parties by Hispanics in the county now average one per day.
So what is the solution to the immigrant nightmare? For starters, nearly everything Congress has done--and state and local governments as well--has either been useless, or worse than useless. At least a couple of times Congress has come up with a "reform" of some sort--stiffer border enforcement, etc. But both times, this "reform" also gave amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.
This amnesty was about the most dangerous thing anybody could do. Since they were suddenly made legal, they can not only work legally and draw some public benefits--they can draw additional public benefits (like social security) and have no worries about being prosecuted or deported. And finally, when these later become citizens, they can legally vote and run for public offices.
We not only face an overpopulation crisis; we face an outright overthrow of our government. Once they reach a numerical majority, they can out-vote the American minority. Their candidates can then twist the state and local laws to suit themselves--laws that benefit themselves at the expense of others, and at the same time deplete the tax base and impoverish everybody.
They're not calling California "Mexifornia" for nothing. Numerous news reports verify that the Mexicans want to reclaim the entire southwest United States as their own state of "Aztlan." With their runaway birthrate, they are well on their way.
La Voz de Aztlan (www.Aztlan.net) predicts when California will fall: Mario Obledo--former California Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare and current Mexican American Legal Defense Fund founder said, "California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave. Every constitutional office in California is going to be held by Hispanics in the next 20 years."
Later, as their population continues exploding and they achieve majorities in other states, they can take those over. Later, they could elect enough U.S. Congressmen and Senators to corrupt the federal government. Eventually, they might even manage to re-write the U.S. Constitution. American freedom as we know it will become extinct. We will be serfs in a destitute, overcrowded, disease-ridden, crime-ridden, uncivilized, third-world cesspool. Click below for part 2.

Ladies and gentlemen, America’s immigration policy is a recipe for national disaster. What John Martin wrote in the first part is what we’ve all been experiencing with greater fear for the past 10 years. This thing is quickening beyond solving. It’s quickened to the point of violence in France and Australia. Sweden, Norway, Britain, Holland, Belgium and Germany shudder within their societies from the immigration onslaught. Multiculturalism fails on all fronts. It creates deadly consequences.
Do we sit by as our politicians “self-inject” us with an unending line of Third World immigrants both legal and illegal? No, we don’t. Yes, we have compassion and we help them in their own countries, but they must solve their problems in their cultures. It’s not our responsibility to solve their problems by importing unending numbers of them into our country. It’s like injecting our nation with a cultural and population bomb. Once our civilization dies, we can’t help anyone.
Thousands of radio talk show hosts spoke up in 2005. George Putnam in CA, Peter Boyles in Denver, Laurie Roth, Bob Grant of NYC, George Noorey, Alex Merklinger and George Ann Hughes of New Mexico and countless others spoke up. Lou Dobbs of CNN stood at the forefront. Jim Gilchrist and Chris Simcox formed the Minute Man Project. It’s spreading. Arizona voters passed Proposition 200 to take away benefits to illegals that didn’t merit them anyway. Colorado pushed its own initiative based on Arizona’s. Tancredo led passage of HR 4437 which reforms immigration. Who knows what will happen to it in the Senate. Beyond that, it gets down to states rights and local level action. We must impact everything at the local level.
John Martin explains what we must do as he writes:
America's elected Congressional leaders have sworn to uphold the Constitution and to protect our country. But they are throwing it away for an imagined short-term political gain. The U.S. Congress and Senate, along with "Dubya" and Vicente Fox, have teamed up together to impose the greatest act of American genocide since the Conquistadores. Why are our "leaders" in Congress and the White House selling us down the river? Where are their morals and common sense? How can they be so incredibly stupid? What can they even gain for themselves? If they destroy America, where will THEIR families find a safe place to live?
Americans can't expect to find refuge by retreating to other countries. Every other civilized nation on this planet has far stricter immigration laws than ours. And as they observe how reckless we are in admitting this wave of illegals, they are tightening their limits on Americans settling into their countries. Even sparsely populated Australia has severely limited American immigration.
As we plummet down into this political black hole, can we correct our course before we reach the event horizon--or have we already passed it? Is it too late for a real solution? Maybe, and maybe not! But the sooner we correct our policies, the better our odds become. It's time to act NOW!
FIRST: STOP the anchor baby scam immediately. NO automatic citizenship by birth from any alien, immigrant, or visitor--legal or illegal. BOTH mother and father must show proof of citizenship before any child is given citizenship.
SECOND: NO amnesty or citizenship to illegals, ever--no matter how long they've been here, or how many legal family members they have here. No government benefits. No reclaimed taxes. No drivers' licenses. No voter registration.
THIRD: NO free or reduced cost education, health care, food, social security benefits, student visas, or anything else to any non-citizen--legal or illegal. Better yet, restore independence to all Americans by abolishing all government entitlement programs for everybody.
FOURTH: REPEAL the Immigration Reform Act of 1965. Bring our legal immigration quota back down to 100,000 total per year--no more. Severely limit impoverished and third world immigrants and those with unreasonably large families. Abolish all preference for family members.
FIFTH: NO shortcuts on becoming a citizen (for legal aliens). The full five year naturalization shall apply to everybody.
SIXTH: REPEAL all "Special Order 40's" nationwide--the insane laws that prohibit law enforcement from arresting illegals--even when observed committing felonies. No more sanctuary policies for any city.
SEVENTH: REFUSE immigrants who can't speak and write fluent English. Abolish all government programs in any languages other than English.
EIGHTH: STOP industrial and business incentives and grants for foreigners. Stop foreign land purchases. Limit leases to foreigners to no more than 10 years.
NINTH: STOP the foreign aid giveaways--all forms of aid--both economic and military. Stop importing refugees. End entangling alliances and all forms of meddling into the affairs and wars of other nations. We must quit trying to build empires and manipulate other governments. This is why so much of the world hates us--just like the South hated the North during and after the War of Northern Aggression. Instead, we should adopt a live and let live policy and become a neutral country like Switzerland.
If these procedures are applied to immigration, border security will be much easier. If the gravy train of government benefits is cut off, many of the incentives for illegals to come will be gone. Sure, some will come to work, and they will probably work for lower wages and send some of their money back to Mexico (or wherever). But the drain on the economy will be greatly diminished. As illegal aliens, they could not legally draw government benefits. Their children would not be a drain on the public schools. Their women couldn't give birth to children here and have them automatically become citizens. They couldn't make huge profits smuggling drugs. They could not legally vote or run for public office, and thus corrupt our government. They would have to carry their own weight or head back to their homelands.
John Martin’s word ring true. He’s telling it at the gut level. I’ll bet he’s expressing exactly what you’re thinking and feeling. He’s not afraid to say it like it is. That’s what it takes to save our country from this alien invasion. I’ve said it dozens of ways in my columns. Conviction without action is worthless. Peace and Prosperity in 2006?

The ongoing war in Iraq, hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and congressional scandals all served to make 2005 a tough year for America. We can hope and pray that 2006 is a happier and more peaceful year for our nation.
All Americans, regardless of their views on the Iraq war, can share the hope that the killing in that country will end in 2006-- and that our troops can begin to come home.
Our goal in Iraq at this point must be self-determination for the Iraqi people, nothing more and nothing less. Nation building doesn't work and we can't afford it. We should seek to get our troops out of the country as soon as possible and remain neutral toward the various factions still vying for power. The ultimate solution may be for Iraq to break up into several countries based on ethnic and religious differences.
Regardless of the outcome, we must have the courage and integrity to admit that our founders' wise counsel against foreign entanglements was correct. Once the rationale for the war shifted from weapons of mass destruction to installing democracy, our credibility became dependent on true Iraqi sovereignty-- even if the government that emerges is not to our liking. True sovereignty for Iraq cannot be realized unless and until we end our occupation and stop trying to engineer political outcomes.
Meanwhile, prosperity at home cannot be achieved if we allow government to engage in the kind of runaway spending that marked the final months of 2005. The fiscal year 2006 budget, already bloated with billions of dollars in unnecessary and counterproductive spending, became an 11th hour Christmas grab bag for every group or industry seeking a handout. Several federal agencies and bureaucracies needlessly received even more funding than originally requested by the administration.
Dangerous foreign aid spending also grows next year, sending more of your tax dollars overseas to fund dubious regimes that often later become our enemies- as we've seen in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Congress cannot continue to increase spending each year and expect tax revenues to keep pace. No reasonable person can argue that a $2.4 trillion budget does not contain huge amounts of special interest spending that can and should be cut by Congress, especially when we are waging an off-budget war in Iraq that costs more than $1 billion every week.
It is easy for us to lose sight of the primary responsibility of our government during troubled times, and many Americans are anxious to have the administration spend any amount and ignore the Constitution to achieve some mythical standard of security. Yet we should not forget that peace and prosperity are best secured by a government that secures liberty for its citizens. The best formula for securing liberty is limited government at home and a noninterventionist foreign policy abroad. Americans deserve better from their government in 2006 than huge deficits, scandals, domestic spying, and mindless partisanship.
