THE FALSE ALTERNATIVES BEHIND
"HOMELAND SECURITY"
Dr. Edwin Vieira, Jr., Ph.D., J.D.

NewsWithViews.com
In the debate on continuation of the so-called Patriot Act and other legislation of its ilk, Americans have been saturated with the contention of politicians and their echoes among "conservative" talk-show hosts that this country needs such laws in order to prevent another terrorist attack of 9-11 proportions. The real issue, though, is very different from what they represent it to be.
Those supporting the Patriot Act and kindred legislation are actually telling Americans that, in order to prevent a conjectural loss of (say) 5,000 people to a new terrorist attack, America needs to lay the groundwork for destroying constitutional government and individual freedom, by erecting the institutional framework and molding the public attitudes necessary and sufficient for construction of a thoroughgoing, perpetual national police state. On its face, this argument is absurd.
First, the price is too high. Any loss of innocent life to a terrorist attack would be tragic. More tragic still would be adoption of a supposed preventive that resulted in the loss of our country. No one's life is more important than the life of his country as a whole. Yet that is the unacceptable choice politicians and their propagandists are offering: propositioning America possibly to save the lives of some of her citizens by surely committing national suicide! No American should be asked, or should be willing, let alone should be forced, to pay such a price, because the result does not constitute "homeland security" by any rational definition.
Second, the promise is illusory. Why should anyone imagine that, even with a national police state in place, no terrorist attack of 9-11 proportions will ever occur again?
If one believes that a handful of terrorists, all by themselves, carried out the 9-11 strike, one must also conclude that they outwitted every agency providing America with protection at that time. This includes the FBI, the CIA, the NSC, NORAD, the Department of Defense, and dozens of State investigatory and police agencies. If all these agencies failed because they were riven with shortsightedness and incompetence, why, simply by reorganizing them from the top down with mostly the same personnel, creating a new super-bureaucracy in the Department of Homeland Security, and giving the whole shebang the jack-booted powers of the NKVD or Gestapo, will all become well?
Can any thinking person believe that, no matter how invasive, repressive, and legally uncontrollable a national police state becomes--no matter how many wire-taps it maintains, no matter how many financial records it searches, no matter how many torture-chambers it operates--highly motivated terrorists will not find chinks in its armor? Can anyone doubt that some terrorists are just as intelligent as the "security professionals," or perhaps even more so? That some terrorists will gain access to the same manuals, procedures, and theories of "security" that the police-state operatives are employing, study those materials, and ferret out their blind spots and weak points? That some terrorists will devise strategies no "security professional" has ever imagined, and which the whole police-state apparatus is unprepared to counter?
Is it not obvious that, in the long run, the only people a police state will effectively control will be law-abiding common Americans, who will find themselves always under suspicion, under surveillance, under the gun, and in "lock down," while the most dangerous terrorists stay one step ahead of the "security professionals" at all times?
Third, the existence of such powers holds America hostage to Fate. Even if one assumes that the Bush Administration would never employ these powers to harass common Americans--which requires a gargantuan leap of faith, inasmuch as History teaches that no one who aggressively seeks such powers can ever be trusted not to abuse them--the undeniable fact remains that the Bush Administration will, by a date certain, be replaced with who knows what. Americans have no idea into whose hands these powers will fall, and to what purposes they may be put. Indeed, to conjure up a justifiable fear, one need not presume even that the next Administration will be composed of such sociopaths as have occupied the White House in the past. That it will likely include men and women of weak characters, but strong vices, is enough. In that event, the nature of the powers provided by the Patriot Act and like legislation will suggest how and to whose profit those powers can be misused, the suggestion will lead to the temptation, the temptation to the act. Only by prohibiting all such powers in the first place can this progression be prevented.
Fourth, the consequences to be anticipated will be worse than the dangers America now faces. The proponents of legislation such as the Patriot Act are quick to conjecture how many lives might be saved from terrorist attacks by the surveillance and regimentation now being put into operation throughout the United States. Left unconsidered is how many innocent lives will be lost to the oppression, brutality, and lawlessness of a police state: including the lives of political opponents of the regime, idealistic dissenters, mentally ill individuals whom trigger-happy "marshals" find it easier to gun down than to tackle, individuals mistakenly or maliciously fingered as "terrorists", or people who simply wander into some official free-fire zone at the wrong moment. In such situations, as the killers wipe the blood from their hands the answer will always be, "Oh, we're so sorry, but that's the price you have to pay for 'homeland security.'" The price that the victims have to pay, because none of the reckless gunmen or their superiors will pay any price at all. If Ruby Ridge and Waco could shoot and burn their way into American history before a complete police state had been set up, what must be expected afterwards? Will the innocent lives to be lost hereafter not greatly exceed in number those already snuffed out in 9-11? Has not that calculus been true of every major police state known throughout the last century?
And what of those individuals wrongly humiliated, intimidated, arrested, interrogated, prosecuted, convicted, imprisoned, and generally terrorized by aggressive, sadistic, or just plain bovine police-state operatives? Should the disruption or ruin of their lives count for nothing?
Fifth, at stake is more than a few quaint "civil liberties." Too many Americans acquiesce in the intrusions of the Patriot Act and like legislation into other people's lives on the theory that "I have nothing to hide, so why should I worry?" As long as these "summer soldiers and sunshine patriots" make money--gambling in the stock market, flipping real estate, importing junk from China to peddle at exorbitant profits to fellow Americans their entrepreneurship has thrown out of work--they assume they are as safe as they are happy. And the Devil take the hindmost. Unfortunately for them--and even more so for all those other Americans their shortsightedness has betrayed--they, too, will find themselves amongst the hindmost. For the loss of civil liberties inevitably evolves into a deprivation of economic rights. Indeed, the latter is the real reason for the former.
The first rule of political analysis is "follow the money." The ultimate purpose of centralizing governmental powers in a bureaucratic state is to siphon wealth away from the common man and into the hands of a self-selected elite. An elite which maintains its position by political manipulation and, when necessary, by the ruthless application of homicidal violence.
The degeneration of America's monetary system is the prime case in point. Originally (and even today, were the Constitution enforced), the common man was protected against politically driven monetary manipulations, because silver and gold coin were the only official, governmental money. All too soon, however, a symbiosis blossomed between two elites: politicians and bankers. In short order they concerted their efforts in a political-cum-economic conspiracy against the public interest that institutionalized dishonesty in the form of politically protected fractional-reserve banking. Fractional-reserve banking being inherently unstable, though, further measures were necessary to perpetuate the scheme.
The forced circulation of national paper currency was introduced with the first "legal-tender" law in 1862. Immediately followed cartelization of the banks, with a fascistic interface between the private paper-money pyramid-scheme and the General Government's Treasury, in the National Currency Acts of 1863 and 1864. The edifice was expanded with the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. But not perfected--because Federal Reserve Notes remained redeemable in gold, which limited the bankers' and politicians' ability to redistribute wealth through expansion of the supply of paper currency. With the banking collapse of the 1930s as an excuse, this vestigial protection for common Americans was destroyed by the General Government's abrogation of the domestic "gold standard," repudiation of public and prohibition of private "gold-clause contracts," and seizure of most privately held gold. Silver was removed from the system in 1967-1968, and the international "gold standard" terminated in 1971. Since then, the General Government has imposed pervasive surveillance on everyone who conducts his financial affairs through the banking system.
If such a mini-police state in the realm of money and banking developed with no suggestion that it was necessary to "protect" Americans from terrorists, how much more economic power will an across-the-board police state wield under color of that elastic excuse? A national police state will be a looting mechanism of the most extensive and efficacious sort. Not only will it eat out common Americans' economic substance, but also it will force them into positions where they will be limitlessly exploited, and prevent them from protecting themselves. No escape, no evasion, no extrication, no amelioration will be possible. Just obey, work, and pay...and pay...and pay.
Sixth, a better alternative exists. If patriots reactivated "the Militia of the several States," tens of millions of men and women would become available for "homeland security" duties--orders of magnitude more than any centralized national police state could muster. Of greater consequence, this mobilization would forefend a police state, because ultimate authority, control, and deterrence against domestic usurpers and tyrants would remain in We the People's hands, where it belongs. Authority from the bottom up, not the top down.
True enough, even with the Militia restored, people--perhaps many of them--might still have to give their lives for the preservation and in the defense of this country's traditional way of life. At the end of the day, though, America would be hurt, but not destroyed. She would still enjoy "the Blessings of Liberty," not suffer the curse of a police state.
So, instead of denigrating the Constitution as “anachronistic,” Americans should be putting it into operation just as the Founding Fathers intended. Particularly, with "the Militia of the several States" assigned their proper role in "homeland security" to "execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions." Article I, Section 8, Clause 15.
Admittedly, no one can foretell the future in the realm of "homeland security." But the past enables Americans to make reasonable predictions. We know who wrote the Constitution, and what they stood for. We also know who enacted the Patriot Act and other legislation following in its footsteps, who is touting such measures--and what they stand for. That suffices for each of us to make the correct decision.

MORE ACTION TO BAN ASPARTAME
IN NEW MEXICO

NewsWithViews.com
In our December 29th column called, “Will N.M. Be First State to Ban Aspartame?” we provided a vivid account of the battle royale going on to exercise state power to remove aspartame from the marketplace in New Mexico. An FDA-approved non-caloric food additive to sweeten foods and beverages whose metabolites include methanol and formaldehyde, aspartame has been the center of a heated controversy for over 25 years regarding not only its safety but in the manner it was approved over the objections of many medical experts. Briefly, the chemical is a neurotoxin associated in medical research with several forms of cancer, migraines, headaches, weight gain and generalized toxicity. You can read more about the 92 nasty effects of aspartame on www.dorway.com.
Our story centered on the determination of Stephen Fox, owner of New Millennium Fine Art in Santa Fe, to find a way to champion states’ rights and power to protect its citizens when the USFDA has failed to do so, because of corporate manipulation of the approval processes. At the time our first story appeared, the New Mexican Environmental Improvement Board was scheduled to have public hearings in July 2006 regarding the safety of aspartame. In addition, there had already been one legislative attempt to create a nutrition board that would have the authority to police the quality of foods and beverages but instead was hijacked and eviscerated by corporate lobbyists.
In catching up with the story, we found a post at the on-line edition of the Santa Fe New Mexican, the oldest newspaper in the West, by Stephen Fox bringing his fellow citizens up to date on the progress of his mission. His story was dated January 27. 2006, and when Elissa called him the following Monday (January 30, 2006), she got an earful of news that seemed to be unfolding by the minute. Since our deadline for wrapping up stories is every Monday, and we know this tale is going to continue to unfold long after this column is posted, we thought the best way to bring, you, our readers, up to date is to report, in chronological order what has happened so far.
First, Stephen Fox’s story in the New Mexican, which will bring you up to Monday January 30, 2006, is found below. Elissa will then pick up the story as it unfolded on her watch and at some later date, we’ll continue to chronicle one of the most important fights over health freedom we have in this country today.
PERSONAL PERSPECTIVES II: The Grim Reality of Neurotoxic Corporate Lobbyists vs. Inspired Hopes for Consumer Protection Legislation in New Mexico [Read] by Stephen Fox-January 27, 2006
Dear Santa Fe New Mexican Readers:
Thank you for the wonderful response to my recent mega article on the chance that bicameral bills to ban the neurotoxic artificial sweetener, aspartame, introduced in both Chambers of the New Mexico Legislature might precipitate a long overdue powerful and wonderful new era of Consumer Protection in New Mexico. The optimistic tone in that article derived from my 28 year friendship with Governor Bill Richardson and the perception that since he proclaimed 2006 to be the Year of the Child, great strides might be made legislatively in the pediatric realm.
Now, my perceptions have changed to reflect the Industrial manipulation of all Legislative processes through the effects of corporate lobbyists. These have been thoroughly documented by Professor of Public Health Policy and Law at Hastings College of Law in California, Michele Simon. She is Founder of an organization called Center for Informed Food Choices. Her many articles chronicle the state-by-state destruction of almost every single bit of pro-child protect-nutrition legislation by mega corporate interests, and the list of names thereof is too predictable to go through. Just turn on a television or walk down one aisle of any regular grocery store and you will see the same list of names. www.informedeating.org
I had higher hopes for New Mexico in this legislative session, given my conversations and prior experience with many legislators on these matters, particularly those I could describe as highly principled, deeply concerned, sometimes even brilliant folks who are almost all dedicated to public service in the deepest sense.
Above all, I recalled the comments made by Governor Bill Richardson in a 10 minute conversation with Dr. Ken Stoller, Pediatrics, Leland Lehrman, Founder of Mother Media, an online newsletter, and me on December 22, 2005, in which he ordered his Legislative Affairs Director, Brian Condit, to put the Nutrition Council bill by Senate President Pro Tem Ben Altamirano on the call for this session. That is 2005 Senate Bill 525, and you can read it on the web, as well.
We were very exalted when Governor Richardson stated in that meeting: States need to take back the power that had been given to the FDA, because the FDA is not doing anything, He was referring to regulatory efforts to ban aspartame through the EIB.
Regrettably, the EIB hearings were postponed on Jan. 3, due to pressure from private New Mexico attorneys employed by Ajinomoto of Japan, the world’s largest aspartame and monosodium glutamate manufacturer.
Undaunted, and with my knowledge of the Legislative process, and secure in doing so because of Governor Richardson’s observations of states powers vs. the corporate manipulations of the FDA, I wrote a bill to ban aspartame legislatively, rather than through the manipulated and vanquished regulatory board process.
Thus, banning aspartame by statute was introduced as two separate perfectly crafted bills in both houses in the first few days of the session.
However, since their introduction, the effects of lobbying efforts by the world’s largest Aspartame manufacturer, Ajinomoto, have almost wrecked the legislation, which seemed so hopeful and beneficent only ten days ago. They used the lobbying firm of Butch Maki and Associates, which includes former NM Governor Jerry Apodaca and former NM Governor David Cargo. Another former Governor, Toney Anaya’s son works for Coca Cola, the largest US purveyor of the sweetener which is metabolized as methanol and formaldehyde and continues to cause neurodegenerative diseases.
It was my intent to write in this second Personal Perspective article about other legislation which may be introduced before the February 1 deadline for new bills, on a variety of matters, particularly the need for a system and series of statutes to protect the children in schools in New Mexico from overuse and over prescription of Ritalin, the amphetamine based drug schools administer for the so-called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. We will get back to you in a few days with Personal Perspectives III, when that bill gets put together by some of the best pediatricians and legislative drafters in New Mexico. Look forward to that one, since there is not one present statute to regulate or even allow the schools to administer drugs to children, let alone arrange for the prescriptions thereof, for the 7% of New Mexico school children taking drugs on campus. There is still time for such a bill, and we are working on it...." (Discussion draft text)
Now Elissa’s report:
At the very end of Stephen’s posting in the New Mexican website, there was a notation that this year's Nutrition Council Bill, Senate Bill 217, sponsored by President Pro Tempore of the New Mexico Senate, Ben Altamirano, had finally received an Executive Message from Governor Richardson. This means the governor has allowed it to be heard in this session, whose agenda he controls, and go through the committees process and eventually be put to a floor vote, this, however, is not going to stop corporate lobbyists from Ajinomoto and Kraft/Philip Morris from doing everything they can to destroy that legislation in the remaining two weeks of the Session.
In brief, the purpose of this bill is to establish a permanent advisory council comprised largely of physicians and educators, whose duty is to make sure the food quality is strong and free from neurotoxins, carcinogens, and other additives. They will also help promulgate rules and advise state government, from the Attorney General of New Mexico to the Office of Consumer Protection, on nutrition and health concerns, to insure that public employees responsible for nutrition programs actually have up-to-date training in safe food and good nutrition as delineated within state policy. And, (lo and behold!) they are charged to promulgate curricular advice for the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and develop a nutrition curricula for medical students that will actually train them in not only basic nutrition but how to prevent and treat nutritional diseases.
Fox, who has a thorough understanding of nutrition, wrote both the Nutrition Council Bill and the Aspartame Bill. The bill includes the authority to recommend banning particular toxic food additives.
I then called Stephen Fox and got an earful that kept me on and off the phone all day trying to nail down the story. After getting the background on the political machinations that many New Mexico newspapers had been reporting on for some time, I decided to call the governor’s office to request some answers directly from him or from various PR-Communications and/or Legislative Affairs staff. I telephoned, told them who I was, that I had a press deadline and that I had some questions about the aspartame issue and I wanted to talk to somebody before the day was out so I could meet my deadline. I got passed around to several people who, upon hearing the nature of my inquiries passed me to somebody else.
I then landed in the voice-mail of a fellow named John Goldstein in the Governor’s Communications Center. Mr. Goldstein had just stepped out so I left my now detailed message. Several hours later I called again. Mr. Goldstein was still out. I then dropped some other names of people who might have the information I needed and still got nowhere. The Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Billy Sparks was leaving his post on February 1st and was not in his office as he was taking a vacation day. Fox informed me later that he is a Cherokee who appreciates the merits of the ban aspartame issue.
Others were out or in meetings. I was assured Mr. Goldstein was my best resource. The questions I wanted to ask and still have no answers to are these:
1. Twenty two state senators including the President Pro Tem of the Senate, and several Senate committee chairs including Finance, Judiciary, Public Affairs, Indian Affairs, Conservation and Rules, plus the Majority Leader of the New Mexico House and the House Finance chairman, signed a letter asking for an Executive Message from the governor regarding the aspartame banning bill, Senate Bill 250, whose text is at: [Read]
This letter to Governor Richardson was signed by five Republicans and 17 Democrats (out of 42 state senators) and was taken to the governor's staff by Senator Ortiz y Pino, the sponsor. I want to know why this letter has been thus far ignored?
2. Governor Richardson received a campaign contribution of $10,000 from Kraft Foods and Phillip Morris, which are operating as Altria Corporate Services. Is the Governor considering returning the contribution, due to the fact that this same firm's high-powered lobbyists are so intent on destroying all of the pro-nutrition legislation in the New Mexico legislature this session?
3. As background for readers for my next question: Stephen Fox, the principal citizen activist behind this push to rid the New Mexico food supply of toxins the FDA thinks are perfectly safe, has begun contacting heads of state and luminaries in the realm of international politics, with the hope that they might convince Richardson to endorse a ban on aspartame rather than ignore the overwhelming evidence against this chemical. They include UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Bill Clinton, two friends of Richardson when he was a United Nations Ambassador. Others are heads of state with whom Fox has corresponded for several years about aspartame, M.S.G. about creating a new Undersecretary General of the United Nations for Nutrition and aspartame. These include the Prince of Wales, the Queen of Denmark, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, and the Royal Family of Norway. He asked the Emperor of Japan by e-mail yesterday to please just close down Ajinomoto because of the vast toxicological and neurodegenerative damage its products were doing in every nation, a terrible blot on Japan's image internationally.
Fox has also provided Heads of State and Health Ministers in many less affluent nations with information about the dangers of aspartame, the politics behind its approval by the FDA, and is asking them now to encourage Gov. Richardson to strongly endorse a ban of aspartame, rather than rely on already vanquished regulatory boards like the Environmental Improvement Board, which postponed the aspartame hearings for yet another six months.
My question for Governor Richardson in regard to Fox’s international activities is, “Would you listen to these international leaders if any were to contact you regarding banning aspartame in their nation?”
4. How many hundreds of people have thus far contacted the governor by phone, fax, e-mail, and letter in support of banning aspartame?
5. How much money is the governor’s longtime legislative aide from his congressional days, pilot and friend, Walter "Butch" Maki, earning as a lobbyist representing the interests of Ajinomoto, Kraft/Philip Morris, and the Glutamate Association of America? It is my understanding that Maki’s lobbying team includes several former governors. So clearly, if anybody can put the whammy on a bill or two, this team headed by Butch knows every trick in the book.
By the end of the day, I called Fox again and learned that two important things had happened at the legislature. First, the aspartame-banning bill, SB 250, at the request of the Committee chair, Shannon Robinson, was moved to the Corporations and Transportation Committee (yet another way to kill a good bill: through delays). The other big news is that a second aspartame-banning bill is now on the horizon, thanks to Sen. Gerald Ortiz y Pino. This new bill is the same aspartame bill SB 250 but includes a $100,000 appropriation for the next Attorney General to enforce the ban. However, due to the arcane political system of the NM legislature, during this short session, which ends on February 16th, and is controlled by Gov. Richardson, this appropriations bill will not have viability unless he gives it his Executive Message.
For anyone who has ever done grassroots lobbying, you can see this is going to be a furious battle in the last two weeks of the legislature! Because there are so many big players with such deep pockets involved; public evidence of such a clear neurodegenerative toxin; and because the New Mexico public is so well informed, this political tangle is certainly of the magnitude and reminiscent of Big Tobacco eventually being brought to its heels. Ironically, one of the key Attorneys General who triumphed in the Tobacco suits was Tom Udall, now Congressman for Northern New Mexico. Udall supports the New Mexico Senate Bill to ban aspartame, and also asked Gov. Richardson to give it an Executive Message.
If you want to help support this new aspartame banning bill with the $100,000 appropriation to enforce the ban, you can fax letters to Governor Bill Richardson at (505) 476-2226.

THE 21st CENTURY PAUL REVERE RIDE

On the night of April 18, 1775, average citizen and Paul Revere jumped on his horse and galloped from Charleston to Lexington to warn of the British troops advancing from Boston. Later, Longfellow immortalized this gallant American in his epic poem, “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere.”
Most Americans don’t know another fact about Revere: he led the Boston Tea Party. He earned a meager education, yet became a lieutenant-colonel in the army to fight the British. When his country called, he answered!
Revere illustrates what an average citizen can accomplish through sheer grit and determination. Call it ‘noble purpose’. Today, we have 21st century Paul Reveres in Chris Simcox, Jim Gilchrist, Tom Tancredo, Barbara Coe, Bonnie Eggle, Cindy Sheehan, Sherri Correll, Terry Anderson, Andy Ramirez, William Gheen, Mark Edwards, Peter Gadiel, Bill and Jan Herron, D.A. King, Robert Vasquez, Glenn Spencer, Garrett Chamberlain, Ezola Foster, Pat Buchanan, Lupe Moreno, Luca Zanna, T. J. Bonner and hundreds more across the land.
The fact is—this nation suffers an invasion that will prove its destruction if not stopped. We now know, especially after the State of the Union speech, our leaders languish behind pomp and circumstance. They decay behind rhetoric while we watch our country being invaded.
They fill the airwaves with words but no action. They talk about jobs but continue allowing endless millions crossing our borders without warrant—thus ensuring stolen jobs and depressing our wages. They encourage insourcing, offshoring and outsourcing ad nauseam. It’s not funny how General Motors failed and Ford follows with tens of thousands of jobs vanishing in the Midwest! I’ll bet you can’t wait to see the new car imported from China onto the US market! That car will drive our Middle Class into the new Poor Class.
“Rather than creating conditions that allow American workers to fill jobs at higher wages, what the president is proposing merely converts low wage illegal aliens into low wage workers with visas,” said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform after Bush’s speech. “Our economy would have to adapt if the influx of cheap foreign labor is ended, and that is an adjustment strongly desired by a majority of Americans, whether native-born or foreign-born. The concept that our economy must be served by a permanent under-class of foreign guest workers is reprehensible and unacceptable.”
The president referred to ‘hope’ repeatedly in his address. “But there is not much hope for Americans in blue-collar work being able to hold their jobs if the guest worker proposal is adopted,” Stein said. “Concerned citizens will not have much hope that today’s illegal workers will leave the country after being given six-year work permits, and they will simply have to hope that there is still a middle class in a few years. President Bush also talked about ‘stronger immigration enforcement and border protection,’ and we might hope that after decades of broken promises that this time he really means it, but the record does not justify much hope.”
Many of you know that my brother Howard has ridden his horse coast to coast across America, twice! You may know that I’ve pedaled my bicycle six times across America. Twice coast to coast! Howard and I are sons of average American citizens. Our mom was a farmer. Our dad was a small town boy. He became a career U.S. Marine.
My dad, Master Sergeant Howard Wooldridge said, “When you know you’re right, stand up for that right. It’s your responsibility to your family and your country.”
My brother Howard speaks all over the country to change the failure of the War on Drugs. I speak on the coming immigration-driven population nightmare. In the last few months, we decided along with other friends, that if Paul Revere could gallop his horse to bring America into being, we could pedal our country back to its original purpose—to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution. We’re not going to whine about the president or the Congress not doing their jobs. We will make them do their jobs.
As of February 2, 2006, we announce the “21st Century Paul Revere Ride” coast to coast across America.
1. Major objective: The 21st Century Paul Revere Riders’ major objective connects the dots for Americans of all walks of life, in small towns and big cities across America as to the dangers of unending legal and illegal immigration. Three teams, red, white and blue, of four riders will reach millions of Americans via 100--200 radio interviews, 200 TV interviews and an estimated 400 to 500 newspaper interviews from small town dailies to big city papers. We expect to reach in excess of 50-100 million Americans concerning the dangers of continued immigration-driven population growth that exceeds ‘carrying capacity’ within the United States. Riders on three separate routes--northern tier, central tier starting at the Golden Gate Bridge and southern tier--will cover 48 state capitols on their way to Washington, DC. We expect to impact the 2006 elections focusing on immigration. Extra bicyclists are welcome on this historic ride.
2. Three major aspects include:
A) Adding 100, 200 or 300 million more people to America will create
an unsustainable society mired with water shortages, environmental dilemmas as to polluted air, loss of farmland, non-renewable resources, diminished quality of life, lower standard of living, species extinction and many more consequences.
B) When the rate of immigration exceeds the rate of assimilation, it is
a recipe for the breakdown of any civilization. Riders will address Balkanization, loss of English language, loss of American culture, breakdown of education and other aspects fracturing America.
C) Each encounter with media will allow us to arrange and give
citizens information to contact local organizations to further work to affect national immigration limits.
3. Main audience: We expect to reach Middle Class America, who will, in
turn, impact local, state and federal elected leaders. Every Tom, Dick and Harry along with Linda, Paula and Mary will be given a voice.
4. Connecting the dots: We expect to center on the negative impacts
immigration thrusts on all Americans, their communities, cities, schools and language. We expect to enlighten and empower citizens toward action.
5. Major media contacts: Frosty Wooldridge/Howard Wooldridge will serve as
primary media contact persons. Both bring unequaled media experience. Howard Wooldridge resides in Washington, DC and Frosty Wooldridge will coordinate from the field as one of the Paul Revere Riders on the central tier route. wooldridge@... and frostyw@.... Available seven days a week.
6. Supporting this coast to coast bicycle ride will be three donated RVs
equipped with computers, press kits, magnetic signs created for maximum exposure. All riders will wear T-shirts: “Stop Illegal Aliens: Ask Me How”. We have one major radio talk show host offering to become a moving radio station that will hook up to air waves across America for maximum radio impact. The Chuck Baker Show will interview thousands across America. Those interviews will be picked up and a video will be created of the entire ride. Sponsoring web sites will gain maximum press.
7. Great moments in American history exploded with such Americans as Paul
Revere. Others include the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Betsy Ross stitched and Jefferson wrote. Franklin advised. John Adams guided along with James Madison the great constitutionalist. Men gave their lives at Valley Forge. Later, Susan B. Anthony stood for voter rights for women. Dr. Martin Luther King stood for human rights. All of these great moments will vanish if we allow our borders to remain open to an unending line of legal and illegal immigrants. The structure, cohesiveness and fabric of America will not survive this human wave. We stand up, make a statement and change course—or we will find our nation in the death throes much like Paris, France; Amsterdam, Holland and Sydney, Australia.
8. Riders will be provided meals and transport to origin and from destination.
RV drivers will be provided fuel and food plus magnetic signs. We’re looking for bicycle riders who can speak well and give speeches with coordinated immigration groups in each state. Please contact frostyw@... with your intentions to ride. We ride from May 10 or 20th to September 15 and over 4,200 miles while we reach small and big towns. Every American will be given a voice. If you have ideas for this ride, send them to me. We’re looking for every creative outlet to bring this issue to every TV and radio station across America.
9. We’re very close to gaining funding and will know by February 15, 2006. We’d like a documentary film crew to film this epic ride if one can be found. Yes, we’re going to need extra money for costs. Anyone who would like to donate may send checks to: ‘21st Century Paul Revere Ride’ C/O Frosty Wooldridge, P.O.Box. 207, Louisville, CO 80027. Over $350 billion of your tax dollars have been spent bombing and building Iraq. Let’s spend money to save our own country. We’ll have a web site illustrating the routes and the progress of the ride.
All that needs to be asked is what is the value of our nation, of our way of life and the prospects for our children: the future of the United States?
I’m asking each reader to send this announcement to everyone you know. We’re going to create a ‘counter critical mass’ of American citizens for three months on the road with this bicycle ride. We’re going to empower citizens. We’ll push the public opinion polls out of sight to stop this invasion. We’re leaving instructions with every person, town and group on how to stop both massive legal and illegal immigration. We’ll reach and speak at every state capitol. I expect a lot of retired military NCO’s and officers to jump into this effort. I expect the AARP, FOP (my brother is a retired cop) and other groups. Most importantly, we’re going to inject this immigration/population issue to the highest levels of the media and power brokers in this country. CNN, FOX, NBC, CBS or ABC will be able to ignore us. No senator or House member will be able to duck, run, hide or pretend.
We can expose and vote out 33 senators if they don’t stop this insane immigration and 464 useless Representatives in the House, save Congressman Tom Tancredo and 93 members of the Immigration Reform Caucus. We will create discussion, debate and results.
This moment in history is no different than Paul Revere’s ride. He galloped his steed through the night. We’ll pedal our iron steeds through the day. He warned his countrymen about the British. We’ll warn our countrymen about the consequences of this invasion. He birthed a nation. We demand to preserve our nation. He separated America from Britain. We will separate our nation from Mexico. He rode to birth America. We ride to keep America. We won’t let Paul Revere down, so help us God.
