I am GUESSING at how to MAKE your own waxy hot pepper mixture to pour over plants -- and here is a suggestion: take a bottle of mineral oil (baby oil), put hot pepper seed or powder in (or extract). If seeds, let it sit awhile before pouring onto plants. I think - again I'm guessing- that it would probably be as safe as the food grade wax used in the ones you can buy. Worth a try, hopefully. Apparently it not only keeps the bugs and critters off the plants, but kills the ones already there, and one application lasts about three weeks, from what I read. It is probably safer (for us, anyway) than bug sprays and pesticides. --"Cheyenne Cin"- P.S. Perhaps we can even use it ON OURSELVES as a repellent? If you are worried about the 'food grade' part, use olive oil instead, mixed with cayenne pepper (or hot seeds). Am sure hot chili powder would probably suffice.
