Onion Rings  Onion Rings Recipe
You have seen onions rings in Middle Eastern cooking served with shawarma, done kebabs, and other "fast foods". Learn how to make easy, authentic onions rings at home with this easy onion ring recipe!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 large sweet onions, sliced 1/4" thick
  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • oil for frying

Begin to heat cooking oil.

In a medium bowl, combine flour, milk, salt, paprika, and cayenne to make onion ring batter.

Copycat Burger King Onion Rings
2 medium white onions
1-2 cup milk
1-2 cup all-purpose flour
1-2 cup Progresso Plain Bread Crumbs
vegetable shortening or oil, to deep fry
salt
  1. In a fryer heat up vegetable shortening or oil as required by your fryer, to 350 degrees.
  2. Cut the onion into 1/4-inch thick slices, then separate the slices into rings. (I leave 2 rings together for a thicker onion ring).
  3. Pour the milk, flour and breadcrumbs in three separate large shallow bowls. The large shallow bowls will make breading easy. (To make it easy, I mix the flour and milk together, and it seems to stick better as well. If the flour/milk mixture is too thick, add a little more milk to make it the right consistency for dipping).
  4. While the oil or shortening is heating up, bread all of the onion rings: First dip an onion into the milk, then into the flour. Dip it back into the milk, then into the breadcrumbs; and once more into the milk and into the breadcrumbs. (Or, if you mix the flour and milk like I do, dip in flour/milk mixture, then breadcrumbs, and repeat once or twice more). This will give each of the rings a nice thick breading.
  5. When the oil is hot, fry the rings, a handful at a time, in the oil for 1 1/2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove rings from the oil to a rack or paper towels to drain. Lightly salt the onion rings and serve them up hot.

  1. How-to-make-onion-ring the easy way

6 large Spanish onions vegetable oil 1 cup milk 2 eggs 1 cup flour 1/4 teaspoon salt

  2. Peel onions under running cold water. Cut into 1/2 inch slices and separate into rings. Heat oil (1 inch) in 4-quart saucepan to 350 F.

  3. Blend remaining ingredients with blender or a beater until smooth. Dip each ring into batter, letting excess drip into bowl.

Fry a few onion rings at a time in hot oil, turning once, until golden brown, about 3 minutes; drain.

    Serving Size: 1

You have enough onion rings to share with one other person.
