Welcome to Geelong Writers Incorporated Short Fiction discussion group.
This is your group. Use it wisely and have fun. Our rules are below:
/ Use this forum however you want, so long as the topic remains related to short fiction: to share your work, invite critiquing, as a learning tool, to pass on info re competitions and publishing opportunities, etc.
/ This is an un-moderated forum, so whatever you send will be posted here with no censorship. HOWEVER, please give a warning at the top of stories if they include emotionally disturbing imagery, intemperate language, gratuitous violence, horror, or adult themes.
/ Posting on this forum does not constitute publication. Authors retain copyright of their work and members must respect those rights.
/ However, no guarantees can be given regarding the confidentiality of online forums. If very concerned about plagiarism, do not post your work on the internet other than in a direct email to a specific person.
/ Defamation is unacceptable whether directly expressed at a person or thinly disguised within a ’fictional’ story in which the victim or others can recognise the character. Such material will be removed.
/ You must not advertise any links to this group. The moderator reserves the right to terminate membership at any time for breaches of these rules, but a warning would usually be given, except for spammers.
/ Please do not offer a critique unless the author requests it and be positive and constructive, i.e. state first what you like about it and then be specific about what is unclear or you believe could be improved.
/ If nervous about your work being critiqued, please keep in mind that we're friendly and reading critiques of other people's writing helps us all. We learn how different people react, what doesn’t quite work, the work which is admired and what appeals to the majority. LEARN AND ENJOY!!
