Hello my glsi (name?) Welcome to the group. I'm sure you will be very happy with it for many years to come. If you have the remainder of the warranty I would get proton to fix the fuel cap release. It's only a cable but it may have come loose where the outer case is clamped and probably not hard to fix,but I have never had a look at mine. Your beat oil question??well if you ask 10 people you will get 10 different answers. I don't know what was in mine when I bought it new,but at the 1000km service, they used Valvoline formula 5000,at 10000km service they used Castrol GTX Protec 15w-40,at the 20000km service they used castrol gtx professional 15w-40. So you have 3 different oils from the same service center. And at every 5000km interval between services I use castrol GTX 15w-40 and haven't any dramas with anything.
Do's --- do change your oil
regularly,do change your oil filter regularly.Do change your air filter for a K&N High flow washable panel filter,it takes out those factory flat spots.
Don'ts -- Don't use your power windows too much, enjoy the air con. Older protons I have seen all have window problems, glass falls out of track. Of course this could depend on your cleaning and maintainance routine. There is lots of info in the group, have a good look around. If you have any other questions just ask and we will try to help. Hello Group... First of all great to know this group exists I came
accross it by chance.
I have just purchased a 2007 GLSI Jumbuck with 16,000 on the clock it
is the 2 tone white model and came with liner tarp towbar front nudge
bar re-upholstered front seats and replacment rear springs and shocks
also new bridgestone tyres last owner said he had the rear suspension
done because it was to rough.
I am so far very happy with it and it still has a couple of years of
factory warranty with it.
I would be interested to know peoples do's and don'ts with these
vehicles it is only going to be a town runner and as I am middle aged
will not get trashed at all.
I would be intersted to know what engine oil is best for these and
also have an anoying problem with the remote fuel cap release it does
not seem to work all the time and I sometimes have to prize it open.
Will leave it there for now and thanks for reading this
