G'Day All
4 months ago I started looking for a front strut bar for my jumbuck.
This proved very difficult,as auto shops in my area didn't seen to
know which model bar would fit.
This led me to the net to find information, but this wasn't very
helpfull either. I did find a ebay auction for a car wreckers for a
strut bar for a lancer EVO. This looked promising, and as luck would
have it,This wreckers was not far from home so I set off to see it.
The guys were helpfull in leting me try this bar on the jumbuck. It
fitted straight on,except it hit the alarm siren.Other wise a
straight fit.The EVO bar is all aluminium one peice.( see Photo in
folder)After this it led me to another auction for a new polished
aluminium bar for a cc lancer,After emails to the seller who claimed
it would fit straight on I waited and won an auction for this for
$26.00 amnd I thought teriffic. However when it arrived I found it
fitted a mirarge
NOT a lancer as advertised.
So this is where the project started. The polished aluminium bar is
very nice and strong. The project was to reproduce a bracket based on
the EVO bar,So being a fitter by trade I found some high tensile 3mm
plate to make the brackets.
Once made I have colour matched the brackets complete with clear
coat and fitted it. The only MOD I had to undertake was to lengthen
and lower the bracket which holds the alarm siren. Had to drop it
about 20mm. Everything else is clear and useable. I have posted
photo's and pics of the templates to make the brackets.
All this for $26.00 Bucks and a bit of time.Gotta be happy with that.
Any questions please ask.
Hope this helps someone.
