Hi Neal Sorry, I'm a little confused on what your looking for? Do you want to know where it is located?or where to get one from? Have you downloaded the jumbuck diagrams in the links section? As for the sensor, there is a diode sensor in the rubber intake hose just off the air box and air intake sensor on top of the inlet manifold plenum chamber.Hope that helps. Regards Neil P.S. Well I struck my first snag today. Got the engine in,but the right
hand side gearbox mount doesn't fit the chassis bolt hole
pattern.There is 5mm difference between the hole centers in the gsr
mount compared to the jumbuck one.The other 3 mounts are in ok after
some difficulty in aligning the bolt holes,Not sure here what others
have done,dave or benny or robert maybe one of you guys can tell me
what you did to get this mount to fit.All I can see at the moment is
to cut the original jumbuck mount off and reweld it back on in a
higher position.
Any advise guys,urgently. Thanks. Got some more pics up.Keep ya posted.

Hi Guys
Well im well and truly into it now,I got the new loom and ecu in today
and relocated the bottom radiator support bracket.That's not that
difficult to remove,I had to drill all the spot welds out and it comes
off pretty easy and then reweld it thru the spot weld holes i had to
drill.It's a bit time consuming stupid battery drill kept going flat,I
think my batteries are shot.(should have asked santa for a new one)

My radiator has arrived and my cooler and piping kit too but its stuck in customs atm.. but ive just recieved an invoice which ive send to my customs brokes to get it cleared so hopefully next time i go on the 29th ill be in the 12 secs mark, im getting excited now

its not really that big of a job, i did it in my coupe a few years back after another acciedent i had, you just drill all the spot welds out and weld in the new one... there isnt much of difference except, for the headlights and its abit chucker at the bottom there the coupe/jummy ones are little but skinner

Hi Guys
Well I got the engine out today,removed the jumbuck K-Frame cleaned
all the chassis up and reinstalled the new gsr K-frame and crossmember
ready for the new engine,and removed the ecu and wiring.What a bitch
of a job that was,you have to remove the fan box from under the dash
to get the loom out of the hole in the firewall as part of the loom is
bolted to the firewall behind the fan box which goes across to some
relay units under the stereo system,so you have to remove all that
console fascia and stereo to get it out.anyway I have put some more
pics up so hopefully they will tell the story.Keep ya all posted.

Hi Stephen Yeah the stainless bracket looks really nice,I do have a set of original proton double roll bars,but you can't use them with the hard cover on,That's why I had to make the stainless steel one that bolts in between the cab webs to the tub,so the hard cover would open freely.Yeah inside the tub still looks brand new,even tho I have carried sand,gravel,bessa blocks,bricks,everything.It is a ute after all,and I do use it as such. I just use a large tarp for loose soil,etc,and am very careful how I remove it.I only have a checker plate look rubber mat on the floor of the tub.I'm just very careful with anything I do. I was able to pick it up on friday from a local sheet metal shop.
After looking into getting the old one galvanized I couldn't get it
done until next year.Not wanting to wait that long I took the old one
to the sheety shop as a sample to have one made from 304 Stainless Steel
plate. I spent half of friday and all of today drilling all the bolt
holes and polishing the bracket to mirror finish.
Over the last 2 weeks I have removed and treated all the rust,repaired
the damage,and repainted the mounting channel,and installed stainless
steel nutserts for all the bolts in the body work for the hard cover
bracket. I have posted some pics in MY JUMBUCK album of the repairs

hi justin i have a tow bar fitted if it is a proton bar i dont know but it lines up with all the holes neil talks about,if the bar comes with all the bolts it will be easy to fit and there maybe a loom you can just plug in but dont quote me on that one. good luck with it all.

Well i hit the strip again wednesday nite... dint do as well as last time but, ive got aolt of people asking me what i was running and what it was powered by.. and imn getting noticd on the streets now too but my besttime was a 13.3 but the head winds werent helping me either
My radiator has arrived and my cooler and piping kit too but its stuck in customs atm.. but ive just recieved an invoice which ive send to my customs brokes to get it cleared so hopefully next time i go on the 29th ill be in the 12 secs mark, im getting excited now

its not really that big of a job, i did it in my coupe a few years back after another acciedent i had, you just drill all the spot welds out and weld in the new one... there isnt much of difference except, for the headlights and its abit chucker at the bottom there the coupe/jummy ones are little but skinner

well members a week ago ask for info about oil leaking at head. Found
that the after market head gasket was the problem , not enough meat on
the gasket and when tensioned down as per specs it split the gasket.
Also Graham if you are still thinking about buying a jumbuck go for it
My jumbuck cost me $7,500.00 I then put 18" mags and lower it,exhaust
manifold was cracked so i put extractors and a system.It has done over
100.000klms so I changed the head gasket,water pump,timing belt and
all drive belts. I love it.

If you have a look on the chassis rail straight above the leaf spring
there is set of holes in the chassis,I don't have a tow bar fitted
but I'm fairly sure that's where it bolts on, It can't be too
hard?proton do it,and we all know how hopeless they are.As for the tub
liner,it's standard on the GLi model and an accessory on the GLSi
model but it's not surprising there sales people haven't got a clue.
The torneu cover front bracket bolts to the channel under the rear
window,you will see the nuts already in it.I was told somewhere the
kit comes with a paper template to mark out the holes you will need to
drill into the body for the pins for the elastic loops on the cover,so
It can't be too hard.Again proton do it??
Just go for it mate,I'm sure you will sort out the fitting later.

Sorry, cant help you on the towbar. However, when I took out my lease
the dealer was happy to fit and invoice me for the accessories
separately to the invoice sent off to the lease company. Surely it
makes no difference to the dealer. I did that for the exact same
reason as you, to avoid paying FBT on the accessories.
Id suggest talking to the Proton dealer your lease company is going
through.
Interestingly at the time I could get a better deal through Proton
directly than the lease company could, so it pays to check your
figures and whats on offer.

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a genuine proton towbar after they
purchased the vehicle? If so, was it a simple bolt on and jobs done?
Also, is there a connector on the rear loom somewhere to plug the
trailer socket straight in or does the trailer plug need to be grafted
into the current loom. I just spoke with proton, penrith and talk
about useless. They tell me proton don't supply a towbar for the
jumbuck. I advised them they should check the December promo (free
towbar and ute liner for the gli).....
Just looking at the paperwork for lease. If I purchase the towbar and
tornau cover after I purchase it, and fit myself I wont have to pay
fringe benefit tax for the life of the lease which is approx $35 a month.

Hi Justin Yeah that would be the solution,but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on proton to deliver such a car. If you look at protons history they don't review there models and improve them like Holden or ford do,they just make an entirely different car. Instead of improving quality they throw everything into something else. And yes,,there are some AWD converted jumbucks around.GSRTEK was one,pics can be found in the photo section.Jason was probably the first to do the AWD conversion into the jumbuck.His work shop is only around the corner from my place,so I have looked it all over many times,it was a nice job.. That will be my next project after my conversion is complete,To make it AWD... Regards Neil

At work we have 100,000k+ Hilux's and Falcon utes. The falcon are more
economical than the hilux fuel and maintainence wise. All mainly driven
unloaded but can be loaded with up to a ton but will drag there tails.
The falcons can easily tow our loaded two ton trailer with caution
(stopping). The falcon I drive gets low 10s to the hundred and as a
standard has air, steer, air bag, seats, mirrors, cruise etc and is
more comfortable than the Hilux's or my wifes Jumbuck.

I think the Brumby concept got old for Subaru and didn't fit in with
there future plans. Proton were thinking when they developed the
Jumbuck. Only problem is it's for a selected market. Duel Range 4wd
Jumbuck with a 1.8lt turbo donk........ Thats the solution!!!!

Seems unbelievable that Subaru abandoned the Brumby. If I do chance
upon a newer model with lower k's I will probably go for it but as I
said - I'm not holding my breath. I know all those era Subarus were bad
for cvs but our local mechanic loves working on these and there are
heaps of parts around - even out here in the sticks.
