Hi Haroon
Yeah things are coming together slowly,Today I went to sydney to pick up a Half cut engine package,so i now have all the parts to complete the job,I just have to o-haul everything to new or better spec as I wont start the conversion until everything is new or refurbished better than new.At least now I have a GSR AWD gearbox setup, still need to find a diff before the AWD conversion part of my Jumbuck evolution can continue, but that down the track..I will let ya know when the brakes are on.
Regards neil

Thanks for the replies, Kevin, John and Neil.
I was beginning to think my newly acquired car had issues with the fuel gauge. Never had a vehicle that has this type gauge setup.

I havent noticed the seatbelt light stay on when I'm driving but does appear when ignition is on. I'll have to pay closer attention to whats going on there. Where abouts does the plug plugin at the seat, I havent seen where.

As for the brake fluid reserve..... phew I tried to unscrew the bugger but it is "firmly" attached. I'll have to give it another try tomorrow or later when I can.

Ok thanks again for the answers

and 1 issue. My jumbuck is a 2003,45thou K's, Pearl white GLSi with
hard tonneau and towbar and had a front nudge bar which I removed,
hitting to many speed bumps and driveway entry and exit.

Ok 1st.. question in the engine bay fuse box, should there be a fuse
in the ABS slot?

2nd.. Theres a white plug under the drivers seat unattached, any
ideas. It appears to come from the seat, not sure.

3rd.. how do you remove the cap on the brake fluid reserve?

4th.. fuel gauge is now registering even when ignition is off, I
removed the fuse in the fusebox under the dash to see if that could
resolve it but it didnt. This is a problem I'd like to get resolved of
course. As I still havent had a chance of finding out what fuel
economy I'm getting.

5th.. is there a works manual available?

Answers on any of these questions would be welcomed, thanks in advance.

Hi Guys
Thought I better update things a bit. As most will know the GSR engine
Rebuild was finished in November Ready to install,Its been the little
things that has held me up for quit a while, electrical parts have been
nearly impossible to find, but I almost have that sorted out now.
In the mean time I have made a new album in the photo section for an
EVO 2 front brake upgrade,Twin pot calipers,276mm Slotted DBA
rotors,EBC greenstuff Pads, and stainless steel braided lines.
Bought the calipers in working order they said, but when they arrived
after seeing them I decided to give them a full O-haul anyway.
The casting is very rough on these calipers and I think it would be
impossible to keep the brake dust form sticking to them because of the
roughness,So while I had the pistons out I'll give em the full
treatment,Glass bead grit blasting, then grind them up completely
smooth giving me a fighting chance of washing the dust off later, then
giving them several coats of heatproof paint which you will see in the
photo album. The photos don't do them justice they look really good all
smooth so hopefully there is nothing for the brake dust to stick to
and will wash off easily.
Rotors and pads have been ordered, should have them next week.
I had to order blank rotors as there is no listing for evo rotors with
100mm stud patten, but drilling them to suit won't be any problem for
me.As the fitting progresses I'll post some more pics so you guys can
check them out. Next will be a 2 1/2 exhaust ready for the engine
conversion to go ahead. Keep ya all posted.

As Kevin said "No ABS installed".

2nd.. Theres a white plug under the drivers seat unattached, any
ideas. It appears to come from the seat, not sure.

This is connected to the instrument panel and is the seat belt warning
light

3rd.. how do you remove the cap on the brake fluid reserve?

Yes, it unscrews - but is usually VERY tight

4th.. fuel gauge is now registering even when ignition is off, I
removed the fuse in the fusebox under the dash to see if that could

The wiring to the fuel system is constant. I have the same thing with
my Lancer and my Mazda.

5th.. is there a works manual available?

I've been unable to get one - even through a couple of friends in
Malaysia.
I think most of us get by with the Electrics that Neil has scouted
down for us and the CC Lancer manual.

1 Not used, you don't have abs,
2 Don't know, haven't looked sorry
3 It unscrews
4 Fuel gauge is supposed to remain on the last reading when the car is off. It does not fall to empty when the key is off. Lots of cars do it. It's not broken. Unless you mean it never ever moves, and then, yes, it is broken
5 Probably, but not available to the general public. Neil, (site owner) has the wiring diagram available in the files? section.

Hi Haroon

I discovered puddles of water in my ute when i had the carpet out. I
was driving around when we were having all this rain and i notice a
collection of water around these rubber plugs on the floor.

I think these plugs go right through to the road. Mine were a bit
loose so i might have had water spray from the road and my tyres
coming through. I siliconed them up, problem solved.

I'd check those, maybe you are missing a plug entirely.

Hi Haroon
I would certainly be lifting the carpet up having a good look. The only hole in the floor that I know of is where the gearstick comes through. I drove thru the june flood and didn't get water inside the car,but driving thru the water pushed all the plastic wheel arches inside out rubbing on the tires, broke the plastic clips, and I was only going at 2 km/h so I would check that as well. Also the rear window in the jumbuck has a common problem of leaking in heavy rain and staining the felt trim inside at the side pillars,so check there for water too.
The jerky driving was probably  cause the exhaust was under water, thats common for all cars,If it rited itself it should be ok. But check for water everywhere.
Regards Neil

the engine light came on. After about 10 minutes thought this stoped
and the car felt normal again. I havent drven it since but i was just
wondering if you guys thought it could be flood damaged or not. the car
is insured so thats not really a concern.

thanks

Yeh it took bout a minute to boot up using tiny xp and get sound
through speakers. I tried to minimize apps on pc as well i.e no
antivirus/firewall etc. to make start up quicker. Some people make use
  of hibernate as well.

Turning pc on/off was all done by the jumbuck's ignition key with the
intelligent car DC power supply.

I recommend http://www.mp3car.com for more guides info, just search
the forums. Its where all my inspiration came from, i also bought my
screen, power supply, and usb gps through them.

I currently don't have the system in my car as the touch screen was
hard to see on a sunny day. When i have more $ i'm thinking of buying
one of the sunlight readable T/S lcd's on mp3car as they are quiet
expensive.

Will put up a photo album up on here of my jumbuck carputer when i get
a chance.

Nice work on the mp3 PC system.
I was contemplating practically the exact same thing with the 7inch
flip out LCD sitting in the console. My only concern was the
bootup/shutdown time required for a pc to boot up its OS. What OS you
using and how long after turning your ignition can you get sound
through your speakers?

The addition of a WIFI Card would mean that you can just pull up in
front of your house to update your tracks instead of having to remove
the hdd. Nicely implemented nonetheless.

Try copying the whole link into your address bar.

And yeh its real loud driving around with no carpet. It also feels
weird when reversing as i have no passenger seat to rest my arm on
when looking through rear window.

Will keep you updating on my progress.

Hey everyone,

Was glad to find a site like this regarding the jumbuck.
Its great to learn certain things about these great little utes.

I have added a photo album of how i sound deadening my ute, although
I have yet to finish total deadening my ute.
At the moment I have completed the doors, and am driving a jumbuck
with no flooring carpet, only one seat and most of the plastic
interior stripped out in an effort to find all the holes where road
noise comes through.

Well post pics of the rest of my sound deadening Project.

Also if your interested, heres a link

Hey Haroon
I'm not quite sure what you want to do? The washer you speak of can be broken off easily or ground off if you are careful, but I don't know why you would want to.
It will only let the boot fall down and you will be left with the shaft showing.
As for the new gear knob it can only screw on until it hits the shoulder below the thread on the shaft which is above the boot retaining washer anyway.
So unless you are planing on cutting the shaft off and rethreading it for the gear knob,I can't see the point of taking the washer off in the first place.
Maybe I'm confused.
