Re: [LPFM] Re: Ogg Vorbis again

This kind of thing makes me happy. My radio work has me converting
files from Ogg, AAC and mp3 into wav and back to mp3 again and I've
noticed that about the AAC conversion in db Power Amp (which, I have
to say, I love to bits).

Of course, getting precious about fidelity between formats is a little
nonsensical if the end result is going to get squashed through FM
processing and then broadcast. Everything I supply to radio is in
128kbps mp3 - partly because I know that the station is going to be
able to deal with that format, but mostly because that's still miles
better than it's going to sound once it gets to air.

Looking forward to Ogg improving - but I have to say that the majority
of my favourite online stations stream as m3u playlists (usually
128kbps - though bFM seems to be 112...) or as AAC+. Very little of my
regular streamy listening happens in any other format.

I'd be keen to blog this conversation - Ross, do you think Monty would
mind being extensively quoted (and attributed, of course...)? Anyone
else have problems with being quoted?

Cheers,

Dubber

I doubt Monty would have any problems with that. It's all on a public mailing list which is archived here. http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/vorbis/ Ross. ... ...
