The Highway started test broadcasts today on 107.4 in Paeroa (Lemon &
Paeroa Country) in the Hauraki District.

We are a self funded community station. Our target audience is anyone who
has ears so we will be playing just about everything.

I am a first time LPFM transmitter and have set up the station from scratch
so if anyone out there is a newbie to LPFM and is thinking of starting up, I
have some recent experience and tips.

I know this is almost sacrilege but I am not using an NRG Kit (I hear you
scream) as a newbie and someone who goes the easy route I got the all-in-one
Stereo Radio Station from Ramsey the FM100B and I am not disappointed. My
test broadcasts using a 1/4 Wave Antenna from www.fmdxantenna.com on the top
of a garden rake handle (yep you read it correctly) can be heard in crisp
clean stereo all over town and for miles out on the plains. My mother lives
on the other side of a hill from me and reception is perfect.
