Hi Jamie
Out of curiousity what Sample/Bitrate are you streaming at?
I have been using shoutcast streaming for ages and found 32k doesn't have many
disconnection problems (with a 256k down/128k upload connection). Some ISP's
in NZ zealand seem to limit music being streamed on some ports (I've heard
orcon does this).
I've had good results from winamp @ 32k sample rate. We have to watch things
that can clog up the bandwidth.... eg don't download email unless we have
too.
One solution I found is fire up a shoutcast relay server that connects to the
remote server..... just connect your winamp to your local server that relays
the first server.... and winamp never disconnects..... because one server
sticks like glue to the other.
Now one problem we had with frequent disconnections was a crook ADSL
router.... it was only 2 and half years old a DSE brand.... and putting in a
new router (different brand of course) solved the problem. See if your IP
number or the stream that you are tuning into changes frequently.
You could check out your ADSL filters.... incase your connection is dying when
you or someone else picks up the telephone.

Yeah, Id second that. Foobar is a tiny footprint on your machine, and can play ogg streams. OGG is great for streaming - UpFM's ogg stream is a great example:...
