the fees charged by the apra and rianz are not exorbitant, and even if they were, those organisations set the rules the music licensing. So you can either follow the rules by paying what they ask in order to legally operate your LPFM station, or alternatively refuse to pay, and face the consequences. Moaning about the APRA fee is not unlike complaining to your local power company about the price of electricity. Operating a LPFM station is for many a hobby, and as with most hobbies, there is invariably a cost involved. After all, whether you decide to while away your time talking into a microphone, or by shooting deer, cleaning spouting or crutching sheep, you are going to incur expenses along the way.
incidentally Ethan, as you're operating a stream of your station on your website, you ought be paying apra an additional $600 + GST a year for this privilege.

We dont make any money out of this, we are promoting other peoples music. Apra & Rainz is about $350 together each year. This is alot of money, I agree APRA need to rethink there pricing
Aparantly they bill in september, they have time to change it.
