Great. That's us out. Ironically last I heard, RSM listen to us in the office.
Does the GURL for short range devices specifically prohibit broadcasting? (I should just look it up).

From my calculations, you could safely broadcast at 16W at our frequency (107.7FM) without risk (from the graphs) at a distance of 8km from the flight path...
In Wellington there should be no problem at all because the ILS is operating on 109.9FM. Miles away from the top of the FM band.
In fact, looking at the table, most places are even better. The only area that is close is Whenuapai and there peobably isn't much demand for frequency use there is there?

Subject: [LPFM] Proposed LPFM Upper band changes

It looks like changes in the upper LPFM band are also planned causing a shrinkage in the available bandwidth -- 106.6 to 107.4, and allocating more space to the GURL.

Here is the relevant paragraph in the PDF document.

2  FMBC Planning Issues

2.1  The planned allocations of FMBC services in the 100 to 108MHz band noted in the

discussion document "Future of the FM Band" are:

·        public broadcasting services in the band 100 to 106.6 MHz;

·        low power broadcasting services in the band 106.6 to 107.4 MHz; and,

·        a General User Radio Licence (GURL) for Short Range Devices (low power) in the band 107.4 to 108 MHz.

That's right. It's a case of massive over protection to the point of ridiculous. I'm sure you could transmit on 107.7Mhz with 1 watt inside a plane and it...
