Subject: Community Radio Advert - School Bus Safety
Tragically every year for the last 12 years a child has been killed after getting off a school bus.
This is due to the speed of the cars which hit the children travelling at well over the legal speed limit of 20kmh when passing a stationary school bus in either direction.
Most people do not know this road code rule, and Rural Women New Zealand is campaigning to raise awareness amongst drivers, for the sake of our children's safety.
The mother of a child killed last year in Kaitaia, Lisa Collins, has made a radio advertisement with Jodie Lawson, Road Safety Co-ordinator with the Rotorua District Council, produced by The Radio Network.
I am attaching a copy of this advert. I have permission from both Lisa and Jodie to forward this to community radio stations, with a request that you give it air time if you have a slot for free community advertising.
If you would like to discuss this request, or need further information, please don't hesitate to give me a call.
Thank you
