RE: [LPFM] Suggest a good transmitter

It was ordered directly and I cannot remember what it cost.  It was several years ago.  Something like $1500 but exchange rates were different then.

Cheers,

Ross.

Did you get yours through cobalt or order direct?

Mind if I ask roughly what it ended up costing to arrive at the door all up?

Cheers,

Gavin.

Yep.  Expensive compared to NRG, but they are built very well, with options for remote monitoring and configuration via TCP.

I’ve got a BW but not by choice.  I needed more than my 1 watt NRG due to the site where my TX is now hosted is sharing an antenna with other LPFMs with filters and combiners reducing the power considerably, and need about 2.5 watts to get the 0.5 out the antenna.

Yeah right, OK, you are the expert. All is well......
BTW, I know.
When it comes to how good a station sounds, that has nothing to do with stereo or mono.
But hey, you are the expert and shall retire.

Simply because on LPFM ~0.5 w mono is picked up better than a stereo transmission.
I have a brand new, never used stereo coder for sale if anyone is interested.. ..

NRG sells good and reliable transmitters.
http://www.nrgkits. co.uk/cart_ new/index. html
Veronica gear is ok
http://www.veronica .co.uk/
If you have plenty of money buy from
http://www.broadcas twarehouse. com/
But, before you do anything check the LPFM situation in Wellington!
I urge you to do this before you consider going on air.
Pretty much all the frequencies are taken in town.
And stereo is not a good idea, sorry.

Hope this helps

Hey guys,

I am wondering if you could suggest some Transmitters you have had experiences with and links etc.

Preferably stereo and not made obsolete by any policy changes in broadcast regulation as i hear things may be changing from 500mw to 1W and possibility of it going to 2W.

Also any suggestions on a good technician in Wellington who can install the antenna and also supply coax cable.

cheers,

Doug
