Don't The Generator operate on 88.50 from the Radio Training School, as well as Radio Lakeland

in Tokaroa, also why are there still a lot of Tourist Info stations still on the 100 - 101 Mhz Band ?

This is really quite interesting...

 

So, it could either mean the 88.0 + 88.5FM frequencies are now included, or (if I'm reading it right) that if the 88.0 + 88.5FM frequencies are excluded (as is currently the case, and was apparently always the case here in Wellington), to remain consistent that 106.7 is no longer available, but 107.4 is?

 

It seems as if 107.4 could either be used by a 300mW (LPFM), or 25mW(Real estate) device just by looking at the regs below... None of this seems to clear. It seems to be channel specific with 106.63, but all the other frequencies are rounded. So, maybe 106.7 isn't acceptable, but 106.75 might be (given the bandwidth, and channel spacings)? It's all a bit odd, really....

 

Maybe Andrew, our friend at RSM can help cast some light on this, if he's available to?

I noticed in the New Regs current till June 30th, 2003

 

that:

 

I note a couple of differences in the old freq Range for the Document issued May 2002

which says that the freq range shall be: 88.10 - 88.40

yet the new Doc issued Dec 2002 indicates 88.00 - 88.50

 

Is this correct ?

Pursuant to Regulation 9 of the Radiocommunications

Regulations 2001 ("the Regulations") made under section

116 (1) (b) of the Radiocommunications Act 1989, and

acting under delegated authority from the Chief Executive,

I give the following notice.

N o t i c e

1. Short title and commencement—(1) This notice is the

Radiocommunications Regulations (General User Radio

Licence for Low Power FM Broadcasting Short Range

Devices) Notice 2003.

(2) This notice comes into force on 1 January 2003.

2. General user radio licence—A general user radio

licence is granted for the transmission within the range

of frequencies specified in the licence by means of

radiocommunication transmitters known as "Low Power FM

Broadcasting Short Range Devices", "LPFM Broadcasting",

and "Real Estate Talking Homes" in accordance with the

terms, conditions and restrictions of this notice.

3. Terms, conditions and restrictions—(1) The ranges of

frequencies, and power of transmissions, permitted pursuant

to this licence are those prescribed in the Schedule to this

notice.

(2) Transmitters must conform to technical standards as

prescribed in notices made under Regulation 32 (1) (b) of

the Regulations.

(3) Frequency use is on a shared basis and the Chief

Executive does not accept liability under any circumstances

for any loss or damage of any kind occasioned by the

unavailability of frequencies, or interference to reception.

(4) Should interference occur to services licensed pursuant

to a radio licence or a spectrum licence, the Chief Executive

reserves the right to require and ensure that any transmission

pursuant to this general user radio licence change frequency,

reduce power or cease operation.

4. Period of validity of licence—This licence expires on

30 June 2003.

Schedule

Transmissions must be contained within the following

ranges of frequencies:

Frequency Maximum permitted radiated

(MHz) power (peak e.i.r.p.)

88.0 – 88.5 300 milliwatts

106.63 – 107.4 300 milliwatts

107.4 – 108.0 25 milliwatts

 

Dated at Wellington this Wednesday, the 4th day of

December 2002.
