What an excellent idea..

LP stations do not require the 'indepth' stuff Newstalk ZB or
National Radio provide. We just need an hourly update really.

I guess a financial solution for the supplier, if doing it yourself
fails, is to regurgitate IRN (for a fee I guess), which pays for
itself by the amount of subscriptions.

The other idea I had, was to share content - cause we ain't direct
competition, we are all affiliates. Any special things like Surf
Reports, or anything like that (which is not a mammoth production
job) for example, can get posted on Yahoo Briefcase - where you need
permission from the moderator/owner to access. As for cost of use -
make it "all for one, one for all". ie- You must submit content to
access content.

Thoughts?

We are planning a news service, we are in fact now running locally
produced bulletins on our station although we are currently in the
process of rebuilding our studios. When that is finished and we can
work out a suitable delivery mechanism we will be offering bulletins.
Thanks

I don't cotton to it, I think you guys are a trifle too content with your own set ups, just a smidgeon, own up? These guys at Apna could be showing you the wave of the future, keep watching and see if they continue to get away with it. its that or turn up outside their studio with a van load of nasty bug type oscillators relaying their audio everywhere on everything and start phoning in complaints about their interference...Those nasty pantek transmitters from the 70's do have their uses...

hi there,
i am hoping people here can help me once again.

i am now ready to plonk down my money and get a decent
transmitter and cd players and everything. but before
i do, i would like to know what options and equipment
setups are available to me that would give me maximum
area coverage (within lpfm rules of course)

multiple transmitters perhaps?, or someone mentioned
using sky? anything would help.
and please explain it to me as simple as possible.

you can email me privately so as not to clog up every
one's mail boxes.

thanks everyone

I have been following the discussions in this group for some time and
and find it interesting that 'mike stevens' has different ways of
speaking when writing to the LPFM group and the nzradio group.
At LPFM he sounds like my friend RobertKhan who has earlier written
to the 'lpfm' group as himself (but not disclosing to the group that
he is the owner of a licenced high power AM station Radio Tarana) and
at the 'nzradio' group (re: his earlier forwarded mail from that
group) he does sound like my friend HemantParikh, an employee of
Tarana who also had a lot to say to this group as himself earlier.
Just compare the stuff written by each and lets not be fooled by
hidden agendas. Why would any high power licenced radio operator want
any LPFMs to exist??

Hello from Wwwwwellington...dont ask what the last 4 days has been like here.....

Oct 1st has come and gone, we have reduced our
transmission in one area , what is the rest of you doing. Operators like APNA carry on even after their big cry in the Herald and the Indian Newpapers.
Whats the point of these rules if they are not complied with and further whats the need if its not policed. I am tired of APNA and the other crowd here - we need to smarten up. Lets face it - operators like APNA have created anarchy in LPFM - personally I dont care what some of you operators have to say for them - here in Wellington we are tired of their rubbish.
We have complained numerous times and even today - Nothing positive. Why this new regulation if MED cannot police it - I am saddened by this state of play.
We propose a joint letter from those affected by other operators who are not complying with the regulations and forward this to other media and MED as a group.
Why should my hobby or service suffer when operators like APNA can cry foul, create a sympathy picture of their so called plight and still carry on outside the law.
SAVE LPFM

They are still boradcasting all over NZ. In Auckland they occupy

WHY ?
What is MED and RSM doing?
Did Herald give them free publicity ?

Where do we Small /local area LPFM'ers go ?

NZ Herald is a reputed paper and to quote 20 joblosses and final
payouts are totally wrong. Because APNA FM Staff say they are still
being payed and are going to sue NZ Herald for mis-leading information.
I would like a reply for some of these questions as this is a serious

I like BSI stuff still the most, more flexable for internet news services, scheduling, recording, events/macros etc..

but for a software processor for winamp or stand alone, the octimax is the best I've found for only a few bucks, it's a 2-band agc, 5 and compressor and small wide-band final limiter. I don't like using straight compressors and limiters without a lever first, or you get over compressed modern recordings. www.octiv.com

The other is stand alone is MBL4/5 http://www.burnill.co.uk/mbl4.php however it lacks noise gating in the multiband stage so hiss can be bad on some recordings. Both don't have user definable cross-over points, so are targeted slightly more to internet webcasting than studio work, but sound not to bad just the same.

Cheers,
Gavin.

www.broadcastwarehouse.com has such a piece of software

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a kiwi version of
the "Guinness Book Of British Hit Singles" or anywhere that I can
find past NZ singles charts?

Anyone know of any software based processing?

Something a LPFM would use - and not a winamp plugin. I have browsed
over the archives here from the last couple weeks, and there ARE some
great programs and plugins out there, but I need a standalone program!

I know this subject is tired, and frankly I dont wanna post anymore
about it. Lets all agree that by consistently breaking the rules
(when they are easy enough to stick to), Apna is screwing the
privelege for everyone, and will forever ingrain itself in the radio
community as the idiot rebel.
They're hypocrites who use evils to try and do good.
Fair?

On another note, I think this station in Otahuhu on 107.1 are asian.
I listened for a survey 'quarter' to try and get a station ID. The
only thing that I could make out was Radio 'Farr-doh'? Is that radio
Father? radio Farter? radio Fardon? (((I give up.)))

My car radio has a bad antenna on it and in Papatoetoe and Manurewa it gets Apna on 107.1 with sidebands as far as 106.85 and 107.3.

We started a test broadcast and got quite good coverge.  By 7:30am
APNA was back on and our coverage was down to less than 1km.  This
indicates they are putting out on quite a sizeable power.  Anyone
know where from?  It will help when I call the MED.

hrm methinks it is apna still... I don't understand indian but I assume its them - it seems yesterday they started broadcasting on a few more lpfm frequencies in defiance of the new rules. I'm picking most likely the same thing up on 88.1, 88.1, 107.1, 107.3 at different places on the way into work this morning... time for rsm to smoke some ar*e

get in touch with them at http://www.apnafm.com/ , I am sure they'd be pleased to hear from you...

Cheers

Tony
