It was a wee while ago now but I have been away...

Did anyone see Fleet, a fellow LPFMer, on Nightline on the 30th of December?

Bit of a crack up I thought.

We have an outdoor gig happening on the 15th of Feb. but I will let you all
know the details closer to the time.

There is a signal null UNDER the Sky Tower.

You get more radiation on the top of Mt Eden, I reckon.

Perhaps that's causing the erosion of the summit?

Lets do some maths...

50,000 watts for one service
times 16 services
equals = 800,000 watts EIRP (or thereabouts)

Now you understand why it is so warm in Auckland.... :-)

The one that would warm my Jimmy's pie from a 50 block radius.
Blow living near that kind of radiation.

So far I've found one station my band expander can't pick up, the Nui Fm guys on 103.6FM Invercargill feed (not that I listen). Otherwise I haven't heard much in the top of the band down here yet. One day I will get a new radio for the car, although I receive no interference on my radio and I get to listen to TV1 in Dunedin in the car when I'm up there.

I also found Country Radio 88.7 in Dunedin the other day, sounds good.

But in Auckland 100.6 is a high-power licence, which I am sure you can
expect to see used within the next 6 months (won at auction, licence
starts 1 Jan 2004)

So having 50,000 watts EIRP on 100.6 competing with 0.5 watts on 88.6
or 88.7 or 88.8, guess which signal will get through?

Not much thinking done obviously mate, as noone is permitted to
broadcast on 100.7 anywhere (yet..), and is very unlikely for your
area anyway.

Any guardband frequency on 88.1-88.7 is safe with band expanders -
only the 10mhz step mirroring 98.1-98.7 is your only worry.

10mhz: 88.7 = 98.7 = 108.7
12mhz: 88.7 = 100.7 = 112.7
14mhz: 88.7 = 102.7 = 116.7

Nice one Richard, I'm impressed! Had I known about you earlier....

As for those who have commented about our yanky-sounding sweepers, I
did try to find talent in NZ and even OZ, but a search on the net
found nothing for NZ and only a few in OZ that I couldn't afford. I
suppose I could ask Jeff to re-record our sweepers and put on a kiwi
accent :-)

heh. Sounds well produced, but there's something about hearing American imaging on a kiwi station. It had my eyes prowling around the net for voice overs in NZ, although one kiwi site I came accross referred to all American and overseas based voices aswell. I guess they can't read the words New Zealand voice over or talent list on the website I found.

We are offering a mainstream music program to all LPFM broadcasters
who broadcast this format. Basically it's a TOP 40/Rhythmic format
of 'top of the chart' music mixed by Club DJ's already working for
radio stations in their own local markets.

This program brings all of that talent together on a single radio
show. It's a 4 hour Saturday night program shipped right to your
station on CD, Data CD or MP3 download from the program website.

It's free to LPFM's around the world including coast to coast in
America. Please feel free to visit our website at
www.themixdown.com. I would be more than happy to answer any
questions about the show if you would like to contact me. Thanks
everyone and good luck with your stations.

Hi Claire

That should read www.stationplaylist.com.  I already mentioned my products the other day on this list.  StationPlaylist Creator & Studio can both utilise Winamp.  I designed the products with LPFM in mind, though they are somewhat more sophisticated these days.  A few members on this list use them.

Presumably you might also be wanting sweepers done.

I strongly recomment Jeff Straub (www.jeffstraub.com).  I used his
services to produce sweepers for Mix FM.  He did a superb job and way
exceeded my expectations.

You can check out the sweepers he did for me and others here:

BTW: No I'm not affiliated with his business and I don't get
commission for recommending him!

Hi mals, please excuse my blatant advertising.

I presume you are wanting something free, but if not then you may be interested in my StationPlaylist Creator software which includes a sophistciated music/spot scheduler for designing/creating playlists, plus a playlist scheduler utility which loads playlists into Winamp every hour to keep it on time.  Creator comes in Lite ($24.95), Standard ($79), and Pro ($169) editions.  The playlist scheduler is not a plugin but a system tray app which controls Winamp using windows messages.

I have also written a live assist/automation broadcast player, StationPlaylist Studio, which utilizes Winamp internally but provides many features, particular for doing live shows, such as 48 instant carts for jingles etc, music fade while over-talking with the mic, take news feeds via satellite or internet streams, just to name a few.  It costs an additional $89.

30 day trial versions are available for download from the website (below).

Regards,

Ross Levis

Jochen,

You may have also noticed that Julia FM on 107.5
(Parnell/Devonport/Grafton/CBD) has also been broadcasting RDS since
before Xmas.

BTW, for the record, this is now Julia's permanent frequency.  Can
you please update your list with us Graham?

We've just got our studio connected to the transmitter (at last) and
will be launching with limited real life DJs before the end of this
month.  Format will be pretty much what our DJs bring to the (turn)
table - from urban dance genres to alternative and more...

And a huge thanks to the guys at Twisted FM who moved from 107.6 to
107.7 to give us a bit of space.  This has done wonders to improve
our coverage reach.

That is a good accident Chris. I spent the majority of my day today
writing a response to this.

I have posted my thoughts on the [nzradio] group if youre interested.

Cheers.
