..may I point out that TM Century are great for AMERICAN based music
libraries only. You'd be best to get hold of the NZ Gold Disc and Hit
Disc sets from NZ On Air to stock up on NZ music.

Good luck

Anyone know who is responsible for the talking clock in Highland Park
on 107.7? Its a complete waste of frequency, and likely illegal if it
tells the time 24/7.

I heard no contact info whatsoever, although I could only listen for
2-3 minutes before switching off! haha.

Hi Dave;
I have found that the NRG PLL transmitter kit is very stable. I
have been running it here for 2 years with no problems, and getting
good reports. Also running here a Slim Jim aerial. This matches well
to 50 ohms and keeps the radiation angle low.See www.nrgkits.com
As far as the programming, I have been using StationPlaylist
Creator to set up playlists and StationPlaylist Studio to play them.
It is the best program available, is NZ made in Tauranga by Ross
Levis, and mine just goes for days on end with no hitches at all. It
is a very reasonable price too. You also need a Limiter between the
Audio Source and the Transmitter to keep the deviation within
allowable limits. NRG produces these as well.

Hi Dave
You mention doing the Radio school in Auckland, but what part of New Zealand
are you planning your station in?

On the LPFM website there is lists of all known LPFM radio stations. You would
be best to work in with your local other operators, in your area and choose a
frequency that is unused to maximise your coverage area.

Hi All

Just a quick note to advise that we will be starting a new lpfm
station in the Upper Hutt area on 88.3 (after doing as much checking
as I could for conflicts). If anyone is aware of any other stations
that this may interfere with, please let me know asap -

I said it and I will say it again, if the licensing authorities happen to
tune along the band and find that there is interference and anarchy, they
will take a mickey fit and revoke all your licenses. We used to have it
cushy in my part of the world, running pirates mostly, then the powers that
be decided there was too many free voices and too much money to be made.
They closed everyone down and handed out licenses to their cronies and
lick-arses. Now they leave it to grow like a lawn and go out and mow it down
when it starts annoying them, bastards that they are. Though it can be
lucrative for a bloke like me when there are ten or more stations out there
without transmitters...

Hello,

For any interested parties for whom this might be of interest:

Recently Flatline FM have decided to broadcast on 88.3 MHz, right over
the top of Mix FM. Their studios are not more than 600-700 m away from
Mix FM's studios which is far too close to be using the very same frequency.

Because Flatline's catchment zone is almost identical to that of Mix FM,
it is causing major problems.

I will get in touch with Flatline FM to resolve the issue, although
their website does not provide much more than an email address.

Regards,
Edwin.

Just to let people know Fleet FM 88.3 has been getting heaps of interference from UP FM on 88.1 in the Grey Lynn through to Mt. Eden since they have relocated there transmitter to a higher place in Grey Lynn.

I will be getting my gear rechecked soon to make sure that it is not our gear that is out of tune.

Cheers,

Jamie
