Here in Nelson it seems as though there's an LPFM station on every second frequency on the guard bands! Thank you very much, Mainland TV and your ungainly...
... Same with Mainlands crap channels polluting the UHF TV band. The advantage they have is being up on the port hills their FM coverage carrys a long way. ...
I got my data from DSE http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/43bcb8fb0c266b922740c0a87f990788/Export/catalogs/SUP1000031 Would be a Good Place to Start. ...

... That's brilliant, thank you very much. I dismissed DSE when I found they didn't seem to _sell_ RG-58.... I've got a 3.7 dBi stacked dipole, and a 1 Watt...
I agree they don't give a rats about the rules by going over them in Nelson you will be doing exactly what they themselves have done in other parts of N.Z...

... You and others will be pleased then to hear that NZ on Air are refusing to give him any of the money that the Govt handed out for regional tv stations ...

Hi Michael, Stacked dipoles offer no benefit to LPFM. You already have sufficient transmitter power, so what's the point in reducing your radiation pattern? ...
He'll only consider it martyrdom, the evil empire ganged against him. In light of the content of his stations maybe we could all search our hearts and send...

The RG-58A Cable seems to be hard to find in Christchurch, I ended up getting it from Nelson and sent down. You need to remember the longer the cable more loss...

If you don't mind me asking, what meter are u getting? Sounds like a useful tool. Cheers Leigh www.HeavenFM.com <http://www.heavenfm.com/> ... From:...
You can only get more range by increasing your radiated power. If your radiated power is already at the limit, then changing the antenna won't help (because...
SWR METER Easily tune your transmitter up to maximum RF output power or check your antenna match with this 50 ohm SWR meter. The design specification allows...

Could we get a website link to that product and a price please. Does sound very handy indeed. Johnno <valentine@...> wrote: SWR METER Easily tune your...
Here's what *I* don't get: Say you have a 1-watt transmitter. How can changing your antenna radiate more power than 1 watt? Is it not the case that changing...
It would be nice if it was measured that way but the restriction is that you cannot radiate more than 0.5 watts in any direction. Stacking dipoles will reduce...
... in reducing your radiation pattern? ... Well, someone _gave_ me a stacked dipole antennae, so I don't see particularily fit to complain really :D -Michael...
By my calculations, with a 3.7dBi stacked dipole, I need to only feed it 217mW to get an EIRP of 500mW.... so with a 1 watt transmitter, this means 40 metres...

You can build an attenuator circuit using resistors which is fairly simple and much cheaper. You would need a tiny piece of circuit board and a simple diagram...
I just found this page. http://www.radio-electronics.com/info/circuits/resistor_attenuator/resistor_attenuator.php Only 3 resistors are required. Use 1 watt...

You could mount the attenuator on the back of the antenna socket . The other option is some Transmitters have an RF Drive level adjust to the Final PA...
It seems I will have to shelve my project for the time being, as there are simply not enough frequencies available in Nelson. I tried tuning my transmitter to...

Antennas focus the enrgy in a particular direction, similar to how a torch focusses the beam from the light bulb. So you get more energy being radiated in some...

Auckland uses 5,000W transmitters to radiate 50,000W from the Sky Tower. That's 50,000W per FM station :-) Some stations are running lower power transmitters...
