Hi
I'm Gabrielle and have just joined (found out about you from
Davencarmel) I've been reading SF since I was 15 (that's 42 years
ago!). The idea of a swap meet sounds great - I don't have any flux
capacitors or spare parts for the Tardis but I do have a fair few
older paperbacks that I'd be happy to swap for some others (fresh to
me). How would it work? People pay for items then go and buy at
another stall, or direct barter?
I'd also be happy to swap books as a loan on a one-on-one basis, as
long as that person swears that they will take good care of them and
return them promptly. I prefer the newer writers, David Brin, Greg
Bear, John Brunner, Kim Stanley Robinson (the 'Mars' series' wow!)
and some of the not-so-new ones, eg Ursula Le Guin, Poul Anderson. I
like good themes and good characterisation; I find first contact and
alien relations pretty fascinating, genetic engineering and nono-
technology can be interesting, some cyber-fi is okay but not all.
Anyone out there have similar tastes and interested in swapping
books for a couple of weeks?
